Chapter 43; Unexpected Encounter

"Can you tell me who you are?" This land is my family's private property! You're infringing!" Cheska roared, her gaze fixed on the man in front of her.

But the man simply smiled and leant against the tree. "You've got to be Cheska Mcbride... Although we haven't spoken in a while, I recall the times when we were close. I'm Connor, a Thunder Pack visitor and a friend of your parents.

Cheska arched her brow. "When you come to our house, please ask permission before you go exploring..." she retorted, picking up her clothes and sliding them on. "I'm sure you understand that you don't want an outsider roaming around your territory, either."

Cheska doesn't understand Connor's apathy, which is why she decides not to transform into her wolf for fear of him discovering her secret.

"Hmm... no way... I'm not afraid that anyone will dare to enter Shadow territory because my territory is well guarded." With a chuckle, Connor responded.

Cheska completely ignored Connor. That's why, as soon as she put on her clothes, she began running. Connor, on the other hand, did not give up as he ran and chased her.

"Your father and I have shared many memories together over the years," he reminisced. "I still remember when you were a toddler and your parents used to leave you with me."

"As you mentioned, I was a toddler at the time, so I have no recollection of that incident." Cheska sneered and accelerated her pace.

Connor, as the alpha of the most powerful pack, quickly caught up. "What about the night you were kidnapped?" "Can you recall what happened that night and who took you away?"

Cheska's teeth chattered as she closed her mouth. She has no desire to relive her past with Connor. She doesn't trust him, to be honest. Despite the fact that Cheska was silent, Connor continued to speak.

Meanwhile, Matthew sat quietly as the water from the falls poured over him. He couldn't sleep after talking with Connor and Aunt Maurice. As a result, he ran and spent time in the woods.

He still considers Alpha Connor's relationship with Cheska's family. "This is terrible... "There's a chance he knows Cheska's secret!" he muttered, his eyes still closed. "I need to know whether the Shadow Pack is an enemy or ally."

Matthew heard footsteps and quickly hid himself in the cascading water of the falls, his gaze elsewhere.

Cheska arrived a few minutes later, her face glum. Soon after, Connor appeared, a broad smile on his face.

"Stop following me!" says the narrator. Cheska exclaimed, coming to a complete stop. [Because Cheska's alter-ego is short-tempered, it is difficult for her to control her rage.]

"If you answer my question, I'll leave, and the sense of anticipation will fade." "Can you tell me if you still have blackouts?" Connor asked, smiling but serious in his eyes.

Cheska is enraged, which is why she is ready to assault Connor when Matthew appears out of nowhere.

"Hey, what's wrong?"

The latter quickly relaxed. "Matthew," she said cheerfully, drawing closer and holding his arm.

"Alpha I saw Cheska earlier and joined her in her run, Matthew." Connor smiled as he explained.

"I apologise for being impolite, but this forest is off-limits." Even my pack might not come." Connor's smile was not returned by Matthew. He wanted to make it clear that this was his domain.

"Ha, ha, ha!" You appear to be a true alpha..." As his smile faded, Connor muttered.

"Of course, because I am an Alpha..." With a sly grin, Matthew retorted. He wanted to maintain as positive a relationship with the Shadow Pack as possible. Despite this, Matthew changed his mind after seeing Cheska earlier. His priority is the safety of the latter, so if Connor carries danger, so be it.

"Alpha Connor, now that you've seen the sights of the forest, it's time to go home. My mother is probably looking for you... She told me you were going to the pack house earlier. Cheska retorted with a smile.

As he looked at Matthew and Cheska, Connor's face darkened. "I dislike the way you speak... "Have you forgotten who I am?" While his eyes turned red, he exclaimed.

"I'll never forget who you are, but Cheska is clearly uneasy in your presence, and as her alpha, I can't let that happen." said Matthew.

"Matthew, he's inquiring about my childhood... "His curiosity is to know if I recall the incident when I was kidnapped," Cheska observes. She didn't want to tell Matthew, but she couldn't help herself. The conflict between the two alphas will cause pain to the Thunder pack, which she despises.

Matthew frowned and fixed his gaze on Connor. "Did you question her about that incident?" Cheska was traumatized, so questioning her about that night is inappropriate!"

"I have no ill will..." "All I want to know is if she remembers."

"Why would I remember something and share it with you?" I don't recognise or remember you." Cheska cut off Connor's other explanation. "You mentioned being close to my parents... "How do you believe my mother will react?"

Connor is not afraid, but he stops arguing and submits. "Fine! I'm leaving because you two have rejected me. He turned around and walked away without waiting for Matthew or Cheska to respond.

Cheska sighed after ensuring that Connor was no longer present. When she caught sight of Matthew's intense gaze, the relief she felt vanished.

"Now that Alpha Connor is gone, I'm taking my leave as well." Cheska turned to walk away, but Matthew grabbed her shoulder and pulled her back.

"Where exactly do you think you're going?" Matthew took command, pulling and turning her to face him.

"My mother told me I needed to go back right away." Cheska explained before forcing himself to take a step. But Matthew is so powerful that she is unable to move.

"We haven't finished talking yet... "Have you returned?" Matthew's gaze is critical, as if he wants to ensure that the real Cheska has returned. "Tell me, are you the real Cheeska or her alter-ego?"
