Chapter Eleven: Dera is a living hell

(The Lycan King's POV)

Walking in a fatigued way to my room, I opened the door in a way that could indicate how weary and, at the same time, delighted I was. I entered the room, jamming the door slightly. I did not get to the bed before I ended up removing my outfit for it had been a long day.

If you must inquire of me, I felt pleased within myself. I was discerned to get back the mate handed over to me by the Moon Goddess after waiting for what seemed like an epoch. It emerged like a dream to me but I discovered, I am certain.

Ever since the demise of my beloved Queen, Ella, I had not been myself. But, then, it seemed the Moon Goddess gave attention to my pleas after a long while and acquiesced to give me a replacement. Not just anyone but a special breed, just like me.

What more could I request than having a wonderful family? Ohh, I almost cannot remember about the pain in my ass, Stella. That is another thorn to remove from my flesh. Hopefully, I get a solution to her problem.

It was getting late already and I needed to freshen up so I could go meet...my soon-to-be Queen.

Smiling broadly, I walked to the bed and was about to take a nap on the bed when a movement occurred.

"My King." I heard the masculine voice, that was supported with a soft knock on the door.

"Come in," I replied, posing up.

"I thought you would have been getting prepared." my second-in-command said, putting on a surprised face.

"Getting ready for?" I asked as I became confused instantly about what he was talking about.

"My King, Alpha Greg Virginia would want to attack our pack. Are we not supposed to be ready?" Beta Ernest asked, looking as confused as I was.

I let out a loud laugh as I held my ribs tightly.

"What do you mean?" I asked him, moving close to where he stood. "Are you not aware of how strong we are? You should know he would not even dare to make such a move." I added, smiling as I went back to the bed. "I am fully aware of that my King but we should understand that this particular Alpha is so cruel and brutal that most werewolves get terrified of him, including some lycans," he concluded, demonstrating with his hands.

"Beta Ernest, I am surprised you are speaking this way. Of course, I know how stubborn and relentless the Alpha is when he wants something. He can go any distance for it." I spoke, agreeing to what he was pinpointing.

"That's true my high.." "But..." he was about to complete his statement when I interrupted.

"You should also not forget how strong we are than ordinary wolves," I said as I reminded him of our pack and what it is capable of doing.

"Definitely. I would always remember," he replied, nodding his head gently.

"Good," I said, clapping my hands. "So, how is Ellen doing?" I asked as I remembered I had given him a job to do. "About that my King, she is doing well and seems to love her room." Beta Ernest said, smiling.

"Perfect." "But it will take a long process though." Beta Ernest said as I proceeded to go wash my face.

"What are you talking about?" I asked, wondering what he was speaking about as I had no idea.

"To make her adapt to the whole Night pack drama, especially the ongoing one in this house." he spilled as his countenance changed to being uncomfortable.

What he said was very true. I loved her and wanted her to move away from the bully and mental stress that could affect her sanity. I achieved that without much stress but now, she is with me. I just wanted her to stay with me as my Queen without thinking of the complications that were included.

Dera's stay in this mansion has been hell for me. Not to speak of adding additional injury to her supposed "open wound." as she would always say.

Instead of focusing on me, she would begin to have her eyes on Ellen, thus, making life a place of living grave. But clearly, I wouldn't let that happen. Not in my lifetime. As long as I am alive, I will continue to prove to her that I am innocent of all the accusations and will also make Ellen, the Queen of Night Pack.

"My King, are you here?" Beta Ernest asked, snapping me out of my thinking. It was obvious he had been watching me for some time now.

"Yes, yes. I am here." I said, nodding my head.

"You seem to be lost in thought, my King," he added, coming close to me as I sat on the bed.

"Not really. You know, I have been worried about the next activity Stella would take as she is a very dubious person." I disclosed, using the fingers on my right hand to rub my temples.

"I have been thinking of it too. We just have to be cautious as we have always been. We need to inform her about the situation." my second-in-command spilled.

"Inform who?!" I shouted suddenly, standing up my eyes shot wide. This took him aback as he was not expecting that retort.

"My king, you know how tough Stella is. Ellen needs to prepare well before she gets attacked by her. If she doesn't, it is just like sending a soldier to a war without informing him. He might be a soldier who is already ready but would have a short life as he could be hit where he is not anticipating." he said as I looked at him in surprise.

I never knew Beta Ernest was this understanding. He was given to me by the council of Night Pack immediately after I was made the King. He had been helpful in all spheres which included wars with the rogue, family life, and my growth as a King.

The sad thing about him is he does not have a family. His family was killed years ago by the Blood Moon Pack. He, however, was capable of taking revenge but he chose not to. That still baffles me as I wonder what kind of man refuses to avenge the death of his family despite knowing the reason behind it.

His personality is superb and I have never for once, considered leaving him behind in my activities.

"I will look into it and know the next step to take," I said, sighing vehemently.

"Noted," he replied. "I need to check if the maids are done with dinner so they can prepare the table for you both," he added, waiting for my response.

"Okay, okay. That is good." I said, smiling.

Bowing slightly, he presided to the door and left the room.

“So much to do," I muttered.
