Chapter 198
Chapter 198
Stormy
The smell of exotic flowers and sunshine filled Stormy’s nose. Her eyes fluttered open as she surveyed the scene around her. She found herself drapped over a fainting couch in the center of a garden. It reminded her of the memorial garden Angie had made in the future. She sat up carefully, and scanned the space. Her eyes frantically looking for her mates.
“Hello” she heard herself call out. Stormy paused. It had been ages since she had heard the sound of her own voice. It sounded almost foreign.
The more she looked around, the more she began to wonder if any of it was real. The colors were too vibrant, the sounds felt like a cinematic movie. ‘Was this a product of magic or possibly a dream?’ She mentally asked herself.
“Good morning, Daughter!” Angelica said brightly. The Queen was in her natural form. The celestial crown in her hair shone brightly and reminded Stormy of all the times.she had spent with her mother.
Stormy got to her feet and rushed into her mother’s arms. They hugged each other before Angie placed a small kiss on Stormy’s forehead.
“Where am I and why am I here?” She asked her mother. She was surprised to hear her own voice.
Angie indicated for Stormy to have a seat with her on the couch. “I have brought you back to our time, because we have something important to talk about. I have temporary given your words back, so we can discuss things as we used too.”
Angie waved her hand at the floral space around them. “As you guessed, this is the garden on your former training grounds. Today, it is a memorial garden in a thriving city of all races of supernaturals.” Angie said with a wide smile.
“Did I save them? Is this future certain?” She asked sheepishly. Stormy and her mates had been through so much. She wanted desperately for all of their struggles to have made a difference.
“This outcome is indeed certain. The only future currently in question, is your own.” Angie told her.
Stormy’ raised her eyebrow. She hated when her mother was cryptic but she was too respectful to complain. She steeled herself to see what else her mother had to say about her future.
“A problem has arisen and I wanted to give you a choice. When I made your avatar hybrid body, it was always my intention of you to return to your status as a goddess, after you saved your children.” Angie said sadly. She put her hand over Stormy’s in an act of solidarity.
“When you channeled your sisters power away in order to uncorrupt Mara’s vessel, you absorbed even more magic. That much power is poisoning your form.” Angie said.
Stormy bit her lip thoughtfully. “Mother, are you trying to tell me that I am dying?”
“Sadly yes, if something isn’t done, you will pass away in a matter of days. The dark magic was never meant to mingle with the light. It has created an unbalance in your body. I have been using my own power to alleviate your symptoms, but the damage is beyond me now.” Angie said.
Stormy’s heart felt like it was being ripped from her chest. She couldn’t believe that after all the millennia she had finally found true love, only to lose it again. Each of her mates faces passed through her mind and her chest hurt. She saw Drew’s shy smile as his wings wrapped around them. She shivered at the memory of the sensation of Damian’s fangs sunk into her mating mark. Dean’s goofy grin when he rubbed her feet swirled before her eyes. Finally the way David looked at her like she was his greatest treasure flashed in her mind. She didn’t know how to exist without them.
“I have been inspired by you choosing to give Mara a second chance. I want to offer you a choice.” Angie said with a small comforting smile.
“I don’t want to die. If there is another way, I would like to hear about it. I cannot leave my mates.” Stormy said as she clung to the picture of David’s face in her mind.
“Letting you go, is not an option. I am your mother, and I am not ready to outlive you. Instead, I offer one of two options. The first is that I return you to the status of goddess and give a form that can sustain both the light and dark sides of creation. You will return with me to rule. I will return your voice and when their natural lives are over, I will return your mates to you.” Angie explained.
The idea of being away from her mates even temporarily was excruciating to Stormy. “What is the other option?” She asked with a concerned tone.
“The other option would be for you to remain in your current hybrid form, just as you have been. I would remove your powers. You would only retain the natural powers of each race and your elemental magic. You will never again be able to create life. I will instead bind your life force to your mates ,so that you will live and die as one. You will enter the Well of Souls together and will be reborn together. Your mate bond will transcend time.” Angie explained.
Stormy considered her options. She already knew that she would choose to stay with her men. She just needed to know the consequences of her choice.
“Does the loss of the ability to create mean this form would be barren? Or that I would never see you again?” She had never voiced it but she wanted a Golden dragon baby desperately.
The Queen hugged her daughter. “You will have four beautiful children who will rule the four kingdoms. And I will be their GiGi Angie.”
“I choose to remain in this form. I accept that price.” Stormy said with conviction.
Angie chuckled. “I thought you would.” She waved her hand and Stormy felt her body begin to change. While she could feel the loss of some of her power, she did not mourn it. Nothing was more important than the love she had found.
“I am so proud of you.” Angie said as she wiped away a tear. “Remember that I am only a prayer away.” Her mother told her as she stepped away and Stormy’ felt the ground beneath fall away. She closed her eyes as the colors around her began to swirl.
When Stormy opened them again, she was standing in the middle of the dragon throne room. David was already sitting on his throne, while Dean, Damian and Drew sat on the matching ones near him. She saw their eyes light up and David opened his arms to her. “My Sweet, is home!” He happily announced.
Stormy let her eyes drift over her fae, her wolf, her vampire and finally her dragon. For the first time in her life, she finally felt at home. Joy swelled up in her heart as she looked at each of them lovingly. She felt an itch in her throat and knew that something had changed.
“MATE!” Stormy cried aloud!
