Chapter 184

Chapter 184
David

David watched as Angie cradled Stormy to her chest and touched her face. “I hate that I have had to keep so many secrets from you, but I had to let you and your mates choose your own path. I know your journey has been difficult, but it has also made your bond strong. Without all you have experienced, you would not have become the person that each of you are.” The Queen whispered.

“What about Daniel and Dylan?” David asked. He didn’t understand why Stormy had to suffer.

The Queen gave him a wistful smile but her eyes revealed sadness. “One cannot truly appreciate joy, if you have never experienced sorrow. Dylan and Daniel chose their paths. Dylan’s journey taught my daughter about regret and the danger of discouragement. Daniel made her strong.”

What happen to Dylan? Did he become a shadow warrior too? Stormy signed with a troubled expression.

“No, my sweet child. Dylan made a wrong decision that he came to regret. In the end, he fell in love with you. I preserved him essence for you. When you have all passed from this life and into the beyond, I will return Dylan to you. You can spend eternity together.” Angie said as she wiped a tear from the corner of Stormy’s eye.

What of my other mates? She looked at Dean in particular and David realized that wolves had much shorter lifespans than vampires. The oldest dragons were young compared to the fae.

Angie smiled wide. “Your bond is eternal. They are as they will always be.”

David felt a weight lifted. Knowing that he would see her again no matter what happened in the upcoming battle brought him comfort. He knew that the war ahead was full of dangers and death.

“Now that you have completed the trial, I believe I owe you the reward.” Angie said as she waved her arm and the casting for Stormy’s blue stone pendant appeared.

It floated in the air, waiting as Stormy reached up and took the chain into her hand. She pulled the repaired glowing blue heart out of the leather pouch that she wore around her neck. She placed the stone into the casting that hung from the chain.

Are you ready? Stormy gestured as she looked around at her mates.

David braced himself, not knowing what to expect. When she had repaired the stone heart, his powers had grown. He wondered if repairing the pendant would cause a similar effect.

Stormy closed her hand around the pendant and her hand began to glow. As the pendants fused together, Stormy began to glow from top to bottom. He body lifted from the ground and she began to float. Her head went back and she looked like she was in a state of bliss.

Stormy’s memories suddenly began to flash through David’s mind. He knew it wasn’t everything and they were incomplete. The pictures were moving too fast, but he saw some of her most significant moments.

He saw her form the supernatural races out of mud and breathe life into them. He saw her playing with them until they were grown and began to yearn for more. He saw her create the first mates for her friends and saw her retreat to a distance to watch over them as their families began to grow.

He saw Stormy cry the first time her children ever went to war and how she mourned the loss of her children. He saw her meet with the early people in what later would become the temple of Tempestra. He saw her love and heal, but also allow the species to grow and develop.

David saw flashes of the battles she had with her sister. He had to watch as Mara corrupted the world and how Stormy had been forced to take a backseat while the different races lost their paths, became bitter and spread sorrow.

He watched as Stormy was forced to forget so she wouldn’t hurt anymore. He saw he grow distant from the people as her heart healed, only interfering when absolutely necessary. He saw her heart ache as the world began to die. And finally he saw her ask to be allowed to save them.

Stormy lowered to the ground, and collapsed as she clutched her head. David rushed to her side and pulled her into his lap as he sat on the ground. He cradled her head and kissed her forehead.

“Stay with me,” he whispered.

Stormy nodded and blinked. She reached up and placed her hand against his face. He could feel the power coursing from her skin and into his blood. He felt the heat of his fire grow again. But the more fascinating thing was that he felt a new pack bond snap into place. He felt connected to Drew, Damian and Dean as he never had before. He could almost feel their thoughts in the back of his mind, just as he could Stormy’s.

“Mine” he heard her growl softly through the new link. “Always mine.”

David looked around to see that Damian, Drew and Dean’s eyes were all wide. He knew they had heard and felt the love she had put behind her words.

Stormy groaned and sat up. She looked up at her mother and smiled brightly. David and Dean helped her to her feet before she turned back to the Queen. Angelica looked like her divine self and not their trainer. Stormy ran to her and threw her arms around her mother’s natural form.

I remember. I missed you, even when I forgot, I still had a hole in my heart. Stormy’s face suddenly fell as she stepped away. Are you going to leave me again? She signed with a deep frown and furrowed eyebrows.

“I have never left you, nor will I, but I cannot interfere in what is to come.” Angelina said as she put her hand on Stormy’s shoulder. “I love you. I always have and I always will.”

The Queen straightened up and glanced around the room at all of them. “I wish we had more time to talk of such things, but the situation in the kingdom is rapidly changing. You must be prepared. I am sending you back to gather your forces. Know that you have all my hopes.” She waved her hand and the space around them faded.
