Chapter 74

Chapter 74

I stayed in the hospital for another day before the doctor discharged me.

James was waiting outside the hospital.

When I saw him, I pulled back the smile that was forming on my face.

Andrew followed my gaze: "Sophia, get in my car first."

I nodded.

James walked over quickly and grabbed my arm: "Aren't you coming back with me?"

I frowned: "Why would I go back with you?"

"Don't forget what our relationship is now. Is it appropriate for us to live together?"

James pressed his lips together, "Grandma wants you to come back."

I stared into his deep, cold, ice-like eyes for several seconds, "Then I'll call Grandma and ask what she needs me for."

James didn't move.

I made the call: "Grandma, is there something you need me to come back for?"

"What? I..." Indigo sounded confused and a bit strange, "I asked you to come back... probably maybe..."

Indigo spoke in fragments, then seemed to suddenly realize: "It's just that you haven't come to see me in days, I miss you."

James smiled slightly and raised his eyebrows at me, as if to say: See, I didn't lie to you.

I said gently to Indigo, "Got it, Grandma. I'll find time to come see you."

When I hung up, James had a faint smile on his lips: "Get in my car."

Andrew snorted coldly: "You're clearly lying to Sophia."

James's eyes held no warmth: "Mr. Anderson, do you know me that well?"

"Andrew, don't you have something else to do? You should go."

Andrew looked puzzled: "I..."

I nodded, picked up my phone, and waved it, signaling Andrew to check his phone.

He understood what I meant and nodded.

I got in James's car, lowered my head to send a message, asking Andrew to help me prepare a lawyer.

Once Freya found out I'd tricked her, she definitely wouldn't let it go. I needed to prepare in advance.

As soon as we arrived at The Smith Mansion, Indigo took my hand and sat down to chat. After talking with her for a while, a sharp scream pierced the air and charged right in.

"James! You have to stand up for me!"

Freya came in wailing. When she saw me, her eyes turned into daggers, stabbing viciously at me.

"Bitch, you bitch made me suffer so much!" She rushed over to hit me.

James blocked her, his lips pressed tight: "Freya, what are you doing?"

"James, you don't know - this bitch deliberately scribbled all over the settlement agreement. That document is useless."

"Juniper still has to be locked up in there. There's nothing there, it's dirty and old and stinks. How can she stand it?"

"It's all this bitch's fault! I'm going to kill her!"

James held her tightly, keeping her away from me. He looked at me with complicated eyes: "Why did you do that?"

My expression was calm: "You told me to sign it. You didn't say how to sign it."

Indigo listened in confusion: "What are you talking about? What settlement agreement? What happened?"

I sighed.

I had wanted to keep it from her, but Freya came straight to me.

"Grandma, here's what happened..."

After hearing my story, Grandma was very angry.

"Freya, you think Sophia has a soft personality and is easy to bully, so you just push her around, is that it?"

"She almost died in there. How dare you ask her to sign a settlement agreement for you?"

"James! Sophia is your wife, the person who will spend her life with you and bear your children, and you're helping outsiders bully her? I think dogs have eaten your heart!" Indigo scolded both Freya and James.

"Settlement agreement? No way. If you don't get out now, I'll have someone throw you out!"

Freya started wailing: "Indigo, you can't bully me just because you have more family members!"

"Since you're all trying to force me to death, I'll go die right now!"

James grabbed her, and she struggled: "James, you ungrateful person, let me go, let me die!"

"Enough!" James snapped coldly.

"Grandma, you're not well. Go rest for your afternoon nap. I'll handle things here."

Indigo kept me firmly behind her: "I'm not going. If I leave, who will protect Sophia? She'll be bullied to death by you all if she's here alone."

Amelia came down from upstairs: "What's going on? We're all family, don't fight. Let's talk this out."

Freya glared at me: "I have nothing to say to her. Right now, I want her dead, or I'll die."

Amelia walked to her side: "Freya, Sophia almost had an accident because of Juniper. Naturally, she's resentful."

"If you talk to her nicely, she'll forgive Juniper."

I looked at her coldly, my expression indifferent: "Amelia, if you knew me, you'd know very clearly that I would never show mercy to people who hurt me."

Who did Amelia think she was?

Now she was speaking up for me?

She wasn't the one who almost froze to death, so of course, she could talk without any pain.

Amelia sighed: "Sophia, we're all family. Why make things so ugly?"

Freya sneered: "You think of her as family, but does she think of you as family?"

"If you won't let me go, I won't let you go either. Worst case, we'll die together!"

Freya started struggling frantically again. Amelia went over to pull her: "Freya..."

Amelia was thrown off, and her head hit the ground, bleeding.

James immediately let go of Freya to check on Amelia.

Freya, now free, rushed at me.

Indigo blocked me. I tried to shield Indigo behind me. The scene became chaotic.

Indigo suddenly fainted.

"Grandma!" I caught Indigo, preventing her from falling to the ground.

Freya seized the opportunity. She grabbed my hair and kept pulling it back. I felt like she was going to tear my scalp off.

Tears streamed down my face, but my hands held Indigo tightly, not letting her fall.

"Grandma!" James came over and took Indigo from my arms.

"Freya!" he shouted, narrowing his eyes.

Freya froze for a moment.

Taking this chance, I stomped hard on her foot and slapped her across the face, then walked to James despite the pain, saying urgently: "Quick, take Grandma to the hospital."

He picked up Indigo, and I followed him to the hospital.

Indigo's blood pressure had suddenly spiked from anger. Fortunately, we arrived at the hospital in time, and the doctors treated her promptly, so nothing serious occurred.

I breathed a sigh of relief. My body went weak, I couldn't stand, and nearly fell.

James caught me, held me, letting me lean on him.

I wanted to push him away, but my hands and feet were weak and powerless.

"Sophia, can't you just back down a little for me?"

Give in?

What's the point?

Amelia didn't even need to give in - he couldn't wait to help her.

"Sophia, I'm talking to you."

"In the past three years, I've given in countless times. Did you ever help me?"

James seemed to think of something and said nothing.
