Chapter 93 You can not destroy everything we have built over this

Caspian's face did not look so hard when he looked at his mother. "We should talk in my office. Madison, you come in too."

Mr. Vance did not want Madison in a meeting this important. She was never easy to push around.

"Does your secretary really need to be here for this?"

Caspian stared at him like he had said something stupid. His voice was dry and biting when he answered.

"Is this not about ending our business together? Why would she not be here?"

Anything they decided, Madison would be the one to type it up and make it real. It was better she heard it all directly, since she already knew what was going on anyway.

Once everyone was sitting in Caspian's expensive office, his father, Louis, spoke. "Son, why did you break our contract with the Vances without telling me first?"

Caspian opened his mouth to answer, but his brother Ethan broke in, his tone nasty. "This is exactly why you should have let us run the company."

Caspian knew his brothers were always like this. But today, he could not stand it. His temper, usually locked down tight, blew open.

"You want to be in charge of the Gannon group? Fine. Take it. I do not want any part of it."

His father looked suddenly afraid. Caspian loved this company. He never talked about walking away. "Caspian, please, settle down. Do not listen to him."

Ethan and Lucas liked hearing Caspian say he would leave. Lucas decided to push it further. "He made a bad mistake. The rules say he should be let go."

Caspian stood up. He put his clenched fists down on the desk and leaned toward his brothers.

"Let me make something clear to both of you. Since I was fifteen years old, I gave every single free minute I had to this company. I shut everything else out," he said, and there was a real ache in his words now.

"It was the only thing I cared about. Making it work. What were you two doing?"

His anger got hotter with every question. He stared at his two older brothers, who just looked confused. When they did not answer, he did it for them.

"Chasing women. Wasting time. Doing nothing. And now you have the fucking nerve to tell me to hand it all over to you? You can have it. But when it all falls apart, do not come crying to me for help."

He knew it would not be simple for them. They would lose a lot of money.

His father knew Caspian, and it scared him. He believed Caspian might really quit. "Caspian, what I say is final. You are still the president."

"Then why are they even here?" Caspian kept his eyes on his brothers. Every single time, they used this same threat. Do things our way, or we will take your place.

He was done with it. "I disappeared inside this job. I broke the one woman who ever really loved me."

His voice started to come apart. His mother shifted in her seat, worried.

Caspian was always so closed off. Seeing him like this was strange and wrong.

"Because I was not paying attention, we lost our baby. Your grandchild." His clenched hand was shaking. Drinking to forget would not work anymore. "If that is still not enough for you people, then I have nothing left to give."

He fell back into his chair. Madison felt sorry for him, but his mother was just thinking hard.

No one had ever said anything about a grandchild. What was Caspian talking about?

"Caspian, what do you mean?" his mother, Louisa, asked.

Caspian looked into her kind, confused eyes for just a moment. Then he turned his stare to Jack Vance.

"Have you even gone to see your daughter?" he asked the older man, who was starting to look less sure of himself.

"Did she tell you she wanted Elara dead?" Caspian's voice was so cold it seemed to change the air in the room. "Did she tell you she planned the whole thing? The accident that killed my child?"

Everyone was looking at Jack. He was afraid now. He was afraid Louis would stop trying to make Caspian change his mind.

"Caspian, that is a lie," Jack said, fighting back.

Caspian just picked up his phone, calm and quiet. He sent a file to their phones. After everyone had heard it, he spoke again.

"Do you still need a reason why I am ending our deals?"

"Sienna did this?" Jack asked, his voice weak. Sienna had left that part out of her story. But Caspian was finished with all of them.

"If you have nothing real to say, I want you to leave. I have better things to do."

Jack and his wife, Charity, could not just accept this. They had to try something. Charity found her voice and demanded, "Caspian, Elara is already gone. I am sorry for what Sienna did, but it is over. She is with the FBI now. You can not destroy everything we have built over this."
