Chapter 54 — Choice to Make

Robert POV:

I kissed Hailey’s forehead slightly as she smiled.

“Get up now, it is already afternoon…” I smirked at her, and she smiled.

“Not yet.”

“Okay.” I laid down beside her and sighed. “Let’s sleep again.”

“No, no!”

“Then?” I raised my eyebrows and looked at her. She smirked and pulled me closer and joined our lips. “Let’s talk.”

“Talk, huh?” I kissed her back and hovered over her. “Start then.”

She blushed and looked at me. “I think that I have recovered. So, I want you to go back to manage your business.”

“My business?” I raised my eyebrow and then smiled. “Your memory is still bad. It is not mine. It is yours.”

“I know! I know but you should take it back. And moreover, the company needs a good leader like you.”

“But you are also amazing—”

“Okay, okay, I know you love me but that doesn’t mean you gotta say that. We both know who’s better in business.”

I chuckled a little. “okay. and did you forget that you are a psychiatrist?”

“Uh-ha. I remember.”

“I never allowed you to work. I was so bad, I remember. But you can work now.”

“Never allowed me to work?” She raised her eyebrow.

I remembered that she still didn’t remember all of the bad stuff. All she remembers is that she studied psychiatry and just completed her studies when she married me.

She has completely forgotten that one year. I think that it is better this way, but I don’t wanna keep her in oblivion. She has the right to truth.

“I mean…” I put up a smile. “We were so happy and thinking about other things…”

“Ohh…” She smiled and kissed me again. “So, you will go back, right?”

“Yeah, I will. And you? Will you work too?”

She thought for a moment. “Yes, I will! That’s why I studied, didn’t I?” She grinned.

“Yes, correct.”

I got up after that.

“I’ll leave first,” I said and went to the bathroom. Then I took a bath and left.

When I left the house, I noticed something really weird. The road was quiet. It is almost evening now. Why would everything be so quiet?

I reached for the gun that was always on my waist, but suddenly a gunshot was fired from behind me. I got aside calculating the source of the sound and dodged it.

I turned around and looked at the man.

“John?”

I scoffed. “You haven’t got enough yet?”

“I will kill you, Robert.”

“You could have.” I looked at him. “If you wanted to. I am not Superman. I would have died if you brought two more people with you right now and shot at me. So why?”

He smirked. “So, you know who you are up against.”

“I don’t make the mistake that everyone makes.”

“Brilliant. So, you know, you should surrender to me. Surrender everything you own…” he looked at the house. “including your wife.”

“Dream on.”

“You really wanna do this? Don’t you remember how you failed so much that day? You couldn’t even save her. It was Alex who did it all, otherwise…”

My blood boiled as I remembered that time. I was so helpless. I didn’t wanna be like that ever again.

“So, you know, two of my people are in your house. Do you want them to forcefully bring her out?”

“What?” I sighed deeply. I should remain calm and think about it.

“Can you just leave her alone?”

“You should know that by now.”

“I am sorry. This ain’t happening.” I scoffed.

“Fine then.” He took out his phone and I looked at him, worried.

“Wait!”

“What?” He looked at me.

“I…not her, John. You want my business, take it. Not Hailey.”

he smirked. “So much of love?”

I remained quiet. “Too late, she is mine.”

I was looking at him shocked and confused when suddenly two men forcefully brought Hailey out of the house. I tried running toward them, but John stepped in the way.

“Tsk, no. You can’t.”

I gritted my teeth in anger. He came to me and took my gun away. I stood there silently because I knew that right now, he was the one in advantage.

“Hailey.”

When he called her, she looked at him. Till now, she hadn’t even noticed him. When she recognized him, she fell down on the ground and her eyes were full of tears.

“Hailey…” I whispered while John smirked.

“You remember me?” He chuckled at her.
