Chapter 44 — Can’t Control Me!

Robert POV:

I opened my eyes after a long time and looked around. I couldn’t figure out where I was. 

Then I heard the footsteps of someone and looked at the source to find a woman walking up to me. I looked at her confused and she smiled at me.

“Oh, you’re up?”

I looked around more carefully this time and realized that it was some sort of medical clinic. 

“Where am I?” I asked anyway.

“This is the Citi Hospital, Robert, and I am your doctor.”

I sat up, confused. “What happened to me?”

“Nothing much, just a little illness. You’ll be fine.”

I sighed. “Where’s Hailey?”

“She’s not around,” she said in a rather irritated tone. “But you don’t need her. I am here!”

“Huh?” I found this rather stupid. What’s the comparison between her and Hailey? “When can I go back?”

“I am sorry, but you’ll need to stay here for a month”

“A month!?” I almost freaked out. “What? Am I dying or something?”

“No. But you are suffering from a disease that’ll kill you.”

“Can’t Hailey treat it?”

“Nope, she can’t. I am here for you.”

I didn’t like the way she always tried to put herself ahead of Hailey. 

“Where’s Alex?”

“He isn’t around either.”

I sighed. They have left me with this stupid woman alone. I am gonna kill them, just after I get out of this hell. 

“By the way” she took a step close to me, making me alert. I know the tricks of these women. She also seems to be the kind of woman. “You will get better if your mind is at peace. If you are at peace…” she said, quite seductively. I looked to the side, almost disgusted by the shamelessness by which she was looking at me.

“Can I change my doctor?” I said to her face, and she looked at me shocked.

“Oh, why?”

“See, whoever you are, you know damn well that I understand your intentions, so why put up the act anymore?”

She instantly got up and looked down. “I-I don’t know”

“Okay,” I said. “Then you should do your job, or I’ll make sure that you can’t do it anymore.”

“Are you threatening me!?” She was agitated.

I chuckled. “No, but MY wife, Hailey is the CEO of Andersen Corporation, and it is a great investor of this hospital and on one command, you’ll be fired”

She looked down and nodded repeatedly.

“Uh…uh sorry!” She left the hospital, and I laughed.

But then I remembered Hailey and Alex. Where are they?

Anne POV:

I moved out of the ward and scoffed out loud. How dare he threaten me?

I went to the reception and asked if Alex or Hailey had come to visit him, but they told me that they haven’t. Then she told me something interesting.

According to the news channel, Hailey Anderson is diagnosed with a mental disease as she was taken to one of the hospitals and sources say Robert is admitted too, leaving no idea who will manage the company.

Is Hailey admitted?

A wicked and sinister smile appeared on my lips. This is the chance. Alex must be busy with visiting her too, and now I can have enough time for me to get what I want.

I moved back to the ward, and he looked at me and sighed.

Don’t sigh anymore, your wife’s not visiting you anytime soon.

“Well, there’s a go…bad news!” I almost spoke the truth. He looked at me.

“Hm?”

“Hailey is admitted”

“What?” All the playfulness and ridicule on his face vanished. 

“Yes. she is diagnosed with some kind of mental illness”

He didn’t say anything, just stood up really fast and went out of the ward hurriedly. I tried to hold him back but realized he was too strong for me to even have a little effect on him.

I followed him as he went out and demanded the whereabouts of Hailey from the receptionist. She got scared by the domineering of this man, and hurriedly remembered about the news and told him the name of the hospital. he nodded and went towards the door.

I ran to him and blocked his way.

“Robert! You can’t leave the hospital!”

“Just get aside! My wife is in trouble!”

“You can’t help her!” I yelled at him. “GET BACK!”

He suddenly pushed me aside so harshly that I fell to the ground. “NO ONE FUCKING CONTROLS ME!” He yelled and went out of the hospital, leaving me and everyone completely blank.

Some people helped me get up and I gritted my teeth in anger.

You caused me this humiliation, Hailey. See how I take your man away from you in front of your eyes, while you stay there, completely insane.
