Chapter 38 — Confusions

Hailey POV:

“Well, she is the one with weird thoughts,” Alex said, and I looked at the woman.

She elegantly walked up to us.

“Hello,” she said to me and then looked at Alex with a smile. “Oh hey! Nice to see you again.”

I understood that she was the doctor who treated him.

“Hey,” I finally said back to her. “Nice to meet you.”

As she turned towards me, her expressions turned a little sour. “You are his wife?”

I raised my eyebrow at her rigid tone. “Yes.”

“Okay.”

“Any problem?” I asked. I hated the way she was behaving.

“Nope.” She made a mean look and then turned to Alex again. “Then the patient would need to stay here.”

He nodded and then asked me to leave the room. We went to the reception.

“Well, she seems wicked,” he said to me. “Are you sure she can treat him?”

“I won’t comment. Come on, I trust him” I smiled at him. “And no wicked lady can take him away from me.”

“Well, that’s true love” He smiled back.

I nodded. “And let her do what she wants. What I know is that Robert will never let her win. No matter how many fights we have ongoing”

He nodded. “Good. Then let’s complete the formalities and ask for details”

I nodded and we went to the receptionist. She told us to consult the doctor for details, but we completed the formalities and did the advance payment.

“I will ask her,” I said to Alex. “You should go back”

He sighed. “Really?”

“Yes. I wanna talk to her alone”

“Okay”

I nodded and then he went out. I went to search for her and found her coming out of Robert’s ward.

“hey”

She looked at me with a confused expression, like why the hell am I even talking to her.

“Hi,” she replied.

“I needed to ask, how many days will the treatment take?”

She made an ugly face and sighed. “One month”

“okay!”

I said in the same tone and left the hospital. I wanted to ask or say something, but I just can’t talk to someone like her.

I walked out and found Alex in his car.

“Do you want to go with me?”

“No, it is okay. I am gonna return to Summer. Maybe she is awake now”

He nodded. “I will visit him from time to time. You should also, okay?”

“Yeah,” I sighed. “Everything is falling apart again. This sucks”

“I know. Everything will be fine” he looked to the side and then at the road again.

I feel so bad for him right now. I know what he did was really wrong, but he is so good. I just wish everything becomes fine once again.

We reached Summer’s house and he asked me to go in. I got out and went inside and he drove off. I could sense that he wanted to see her, but…

Anyway, I went inside and then to her room. She was sitting.

“Hey Summer.” I sat beside her, and she looked at me. It looked like she had been crying.

“Hm, Hailey?” She looked at me.

I sighed. “Are you okay? How are you feeling now?”

She sighed. “I don’t know. Not good at all.”

“don’t stress yourself. Everything is gonna be okay.”

she laughed ironically. “It has always been okay, just now it's ruined. I fucked up. I let him go!”

“Uh…”

“He-he thinks I am a prostitute, so this…this child?” She looked at her belly. “This child is the child of a prostitute!”

I hugged her. “It’s nothing like that!”

“It is! It doesn't matter what the truth is. The child will never have a father!”

I looked at her sadly and sighed. “Shh. Do you want Alex here?”

“I wish I did. I want a father for the child. but he isn’t the father, is he?”

Alex POV:

I drove back to Robert’s house. I should be with him at the hospital, but I want some time alone.

I sat down on the couch in the living room and tears flowed. Summer…is she okay?

Even Robert isn’t okay anymore. I know what happened to him. This John thing…Max told me everything and that’s why I know that Robert was a good person. But I don’t know what to do anymore.

The doorbell rang and I got up. I opened the door and saw Max standing.

“Hey man” he said to me. “I heard about Robert—”

“Yeah”

He sighed. “Is he Robert or John?”
