CHAPTER 100
He Is Her Legally Married Husband
Alexa looked around the car she was in and she was already irritated by the loud noise coming from the song the DJ was dissing, and the withering sounds of conversation from people close to her that she felt like throwing up.
She has been sitting on a spot at a house waiting for that particular someone who was taking his time to show up, and Alexa hissed frustratedly anytime she remembered how embarrassing it was for her.
Her goal was to get home before Maurice and also leave the bar early, but with the delay, she feared that Maurice was going to get home before her.
"When is that fool going to get here?" Alexa mumbled, and she hissed frustratedly as she looked around searching for that familiar face that was yet unfamiliar to her.
Alexa's phone blared up and she got scared at the loud ringtone and she picked it up thinking that it was the man that was disturbing her but she was surprised to find out that it was Maurice.
"What! Why is he calling? Is he home already?" Alexa mumbled and she picked it up immediately thinking that the man must have got home before her.
"What! You called?" She asked surprised and she heard Maurice chuckles like she just said something funny.
Alexa panicked hearing his laughter and she wondered if what she said was funny.
'Maybe he has caught up on my lie' Alexa thought and she bites her lips in regret.
"Where are you?" Alexa heard Maurice ask, and she looked around the bar trying to gauge the eyes of the people there.
She knew that she told him about going to visit her mother in the hospital and that was the reason she was able to be still in the bar despite being late.
'There is no way he is going to know I am not in the hospital, right?' Alexa pondered and she decided to take a bet.
"I told you in the morning…I am in the hospital," Alexa says anxiously, and she hoped Maurice would not catch that, her voice was already giving her away.
"Oh really then you would be shocked to hear where I am too," Maurice says, and Alexa creases her eyebrow in confusion hearing his words.
She wondered where the man could be for him or say something like that but nothing came to her head and she opted to ask.
Alexa noticed that the man went briefly silent on the other side of the phone and she wondered what was going on.
"What! Where are you now?" Alexa asked, feeling today something was going on.. something was going wrong and it was like she omitted a possibility.
'What possibility could I have possibly omitted?' Alexa wondered.
"Where did you say you are again, Alexa? No lies," Alexa heard Maurice ask, and she started to get suspicious of his questions and she wondered why the man was so perceptive about the question.
Even though she felt like something was wrong, she made sure that her answer wasn't different.
"Why are you asking the same question? I already told you where I am," Alexa finally says, trying to act neutral despite the turbulence of reactions going on in her head.
"No, I am just making sure that I am not wrong," Maurice says over the phone and Alexa nods her head.
"Ohh, I told you that I am with my mom in the hospital…or did you want me to put her on?" Alexa said, trying to sound neutral, she felt bad for lying to the man, but that was the only thing she could do to get herself out of trouble.
"No, you don't need to put her on..we don't want to disturb her," Maurice says and the call went silent immediately.
Alexa looked at her phone and she thought that the call ended rather abruptly, but she brushed it off.
"I am sure that I am just being paranoid," Alexa mumbled, and she looked around but she still didn't see any familiar faces in sight.
Alexa looked at the bustling bar and she wondered if she had lost her mind for asking her to come to that kind of place.
'That fool! Why can't he just take a bank transfer than ask me to come here!" Alexa berated the man in her kind, but her thoughts got suspended when someone breathed into her ear.
"Have you waited for too long!" Alexa heard someone ask close to her ear and she jolted up in surprise and she turned to see the man she had been waiting for all along.
"You crazy freak!" Alexa yelled, almost hitting the man and the man smirked at her
The man Alexa had been waiting for was Marcus, and he was the one she was also giving the money to.
"Did you have it with you?" Marcus asked, and Alexa hissed in frustration as she dipped her hands into her bag and brought out a brown envelope.
"I did my part of the bargain so it's now your turn to do yours," Alexa says, and Marcus's eyes lighten up seeing the envelope.
"Don't rush princess…the night is still young," Marcus says, extending his hand to the envelope.

After spending some time in Alexa's mother's room and with Jason making sure he interrupted every discussion he was having with the woman, Maurice decided to leave and he bid the woman farewell before he stood up.
"Why is Alexa not here today?" Alexa's mother asked, and Maurice's hands balled into a fist hearing the woman's words and he remembered Alexa's earlier words about being in the hospital.
"I am sure that she is just busy with work, she is going to be visiting you soon," Maurice says and the woman smiles, bidding him farewell.
Jason was surprised to hear Maurice mention Alexa working and he was confused about their relationship.
When he saw the man walk in earlier he thought he was just an acquaintance, but seeing Alexa's mother's interaction with him he knew there was more.
Seeing Maurice walking out of the room, Jason also followed suit bidding the woman farewell.
Jason followed behind Maurice in the quiet hospital hallway and he decided to ask the question that had been eating him up.
"Who are you to Alexa?" Jason asked, immediately he stepped out following Maurice, and Maurice's steps halted immediately hearing that.
He smirked, turning around to look at Jason who was glaring at him and the man chuckled wondering why the man was trying to put out a tough front.
"I don't think it would be in your own interest if your father found out that you are glaring at one of the most potential investors of his company," Maurice says, and Jason hissed in frustration knowing that Maurice recognized him.
"So you know who I was that day you came to the coffee shop?" Jason asked, and Maurice shrugged his shoulders like he could not be bothered.
"No, I don't because you are insignificant and not worthy of my acknowledgment, but after your involvement with Alexa I have to find out either way," Maurice says, and Jason's jaw tightens hearing Maurice's demeaning words.
"What! So you just found it funny that the son of a big tycoon could be working in a coffee shop?" Jason asked, and Maurice shook his head.
"No, I found it childish and anyone else who also thinks the same," Maurice says, and Jason feels embarrassed.
"That's none of your business but I think you still haven't answered my questions..who are you to Alexa? Are you her boyfriend?" Jason asked with so much difficulty and he hoped that it wasn't true.
"Me? No, I am different from you because I am not her boyfriend just like you thought," Maurice says, Jason's expression lightens up, but his expression turns solemn with Maurice's next words.
"But her husband…her legal husband," he says and Jason gasped hearing that.
