Chapter 297 Meeting Alexander

Chapter 297 Meeting Alexander

"What did you just say?"

Jason was about to bare his soul when he looked up and heard Seraphine say she was willing to marry him.

He froze. It took him a long moment before he could force the words out.

"I didn't catch that, Seraphine. Could you... say that again?"

"I said, I'm willing to marry you."

Seraphine stepped forward, took the roses from Jason's hand, and kissed him softly on the lips.

"Jason, I don't know if we'll make it through this life happy together. But if it's you? I'm willing to take that chance. Let's get married. Tomorrow. We'll get the marriage license."

"Yes. Tomorrow."

Jason pulled her into his arms, a wide smile spreading across his face.

After deciding to marry Jason, the days seemed to fly by.

The next day, Seraphine kept her promise and went with Jason to get their marriage license. That same evening, Jason posted a photo of their marriage certificate on Ascend Global Group's official account.

Next came wedding planning.

Planning a wedding was incredibly complicated.

When Seraphine married Charles, they hadn't held a proper ceremony—just a small gathering with close friends—but even that had taken her two full weeks to organize.

This time, though, Seraphine barely lifted a finger.

Because Jason had taken everything onto his own shoulders.

"Your only job is to design a jewelry set for yourself. Leave everything else to me."

That's what Jason told her when she came to him to discuss wedding details.

Seraphine didn't know what to do with him. She could only obediently listen.

"Seraphine, there's a man outside. He says his name is Alexander, and he wants to see you."

One afternoon, Seraphine was in her office designing her jewelry when Nicole walked in, frowning.

"That guy looks intense. Like someone you don't want to mess with."

"Alexander?"

Seraphine searched her memory but came up empty. She looked up at Nicole.

"Did he say why he wants to see me?"

"No."

Nicole scratched the back of her head with an awkward smile.

"He spoke in a foreign language. I have no idea what he said."

"All right."

Seraphine smiled helplessly.

"Go ahead and bring him in. I'll talk to him."

"Okay."

Nicole let out a relieved breath and hurried back toward the door.

A few moments later, she returned with a tall, broad-shouldered man with blond hair and blue eyes.

"It's you?"

The moment Seraphine saw him, her eyes went wide with shock.

"Looks like you recognize me."

Alexander smiled lightly, pulled out a chair, and sat down across from her.

"Yes, I'm the man you saved seven years ago. Ms. Lavien, hello. My name is Alexander, and I'm the current head of the Smith Family."

"I apologize for not coming to thank you sooner. But it wasn't intentional—for the past seven years, I was deceived. I gave a con artist a lot of resources."

"But it's fine. I heard you already sent that con artist to prison. I'll make sure she's dealt with properly while she's in there."

Seraphine blinked. A moment later, an absurd thought crept into her mind.

"Mr. Smith, the con artist you're talking about... wouldn't happen to be Vivian, would it?"

"That's right. Vivian."

Alexander's expression grew even more guilt-ridden.

"Ms. Lavien, there's something I need to confess. Vivian's fake medical records—I had someone forge them for her. After I learned the truth, I immediately had your background investigated."

"That's when I found out Vivian used the records I helped her forge to destroy your marriage. I'm truly sorry."

"I want to make it up to you. Whatever you want—name it."

So 'he' was the mysterious person behind Vivian all along.

When she thought about it, the whole thing was pretty ridiculous.

Vivian's biggest backer was someone she'd gotten by pretending to be Seraphine.

Seraphine's gaze flickered, her emotions complicated.

"I don't need anything."

After a long pause, she gathered herself and looked back at Alexander.

She met his eyes and spoke clearly, word by word.

"You don't need to feel guilty. In a way, I should be thanking you. If you hadn't helped Vivian forge those records and sent her back to the country, I would never have seen my ex-husband's true face."

"Maybe even now, I'd still be stuck in the Stuart Family, suffering under my ex-husband and his family."

"You saved me. After my divorce, I met a man worth giving everything to. My career took off too."

Alexander studied her for a moment, then let out a long sigh.

"But I still want to repay you. You saved my life when I was at my lowest. I have to do something for you."

"Then buy a jewelry set I designed."

Seraphine thought for a moment, then placed a portfolio from her desk in front of Alexander.

"I started my own jewelry brand. If you're willing to promote my jewelry to your business partners, I'd be very grateful."

He'd just told her he was the head of the Smith Family, and 'this' was her only request?

Alexander narrowed his eyes. Then, suddenly, he smiled.

"All right. I understand."

He picked up the portfolio Seraphine handed him and slowly stood.

"I'll take this back and look it over carefully. Once I've made a decision, I'll have my assistant contact you. Ms. Lavien, here's to a successful partnership."

"Sounds good. I'll wait to hear from you."

Seraphine lowered her gaze, stood, and personally walked him to her office door.

……

"Mr. Smith, you're out already?"

Alexander's assistant had been waiting near Seraphine's studio. When he saw Alexander emerge, he hurried over, eyeing him curiously.

"Mr. Smith, what kind of person is Seraphine? After she found out who you are, did she make any unreasonable demands? If she's like Vivian and asked you to marry her, you absolutely can't agree."
