Chapter Fourteen
Serena's Pov
The next minute, I felt conscious, I could feel my body was on something soft and not on the floor like I had expected to find myself on.
So, I slowly opened my eyes to find out where exactly I was, and the first time I tried to open my eyes, the sunrays stung me and I closed my eyes back with a piercing pain.
Was it morning already?
I tried to open my eyes again and this time around, it had adjusted to the light. Surprisingly, I was in my bed and in the hotel room.
“How… how did I get here?” I asked myself under my breath.
I looked around, still baffled by what I had just experienced.
“Or is there something I'm missing?” I uttered under my breath.
I recalled that I was at the bar and a random stranger was trying to have a conversation with me and was also hitting on me.
I couldn't really piece together all that he said, but one definite thing I knew about him was that he was trying to woo me. And then I recalled when I was going back to the hotel area, and someone grabbed and injected me with a syringe that I have no idea what exactly it contained.
“Gosh.”
I got down from the bed immediately and looked at myself in the mirror to check for any marks or the likes.
But I found none. My body was just like nothing really happened to me. But this was just so impossible. How could it be?
I should probably let Adrien know about this, or maybe he was the one who brought me upstairs to my room.
I left my room and headed to his, and he welcomed me in.
“Good morning. Sorry I couldn't check up last night. "I was just so hung up with work that I slept off the moment I was done.” Adrien said to me, and I halted in my tracks and turned to look at me.
“Are you saying you weren't the one who picked me up and took me back to my room?” I asked him in bafflement.
“What do you mean pick up? "What happened?” Adrien questioned, now looking curious.
“I… I went to the lounge yesterday because I was so bored and didn't want to disturb you, but I ended up kind of getting a little drunk because I found a cocktail which I really loved and enjoyed so much. And then… a stranger appeared to me and was trying to hit on me, but I ignored him and when I was tired, I left and was heading back to the hotel area where someone grabbed me and injected me with something. "That's… that's the last thing I could remember.” I explained to him, but Adrien chucked instead.
“Why… Why did you chuckle?” I asked, still feeling baffled about everything.
“I believe that all those that you narrated starting from when you left the lounge drunk, you were probably just seeing things and all. "Being drunk is not a thing you're used to, and it's probably your first time, so these strange things must have just been your mind messing with you.” Adrien said to me, and I looked within myself.
Could I really have been dreaming things up because of alcohol? Although, everything felt real and all, but seeing as there was just no explanation for what really happened to me, it was beginning to seem like it was probably my drunken state messing with my head.
“You should get ready for the next meeting this morning,” Adrien urged me, and I nodded.
I left his room and went back to mine, still feeling a little weird, but I decided to shake it off and get ready for today's agenda.
I washed up and put on something nice to wear and when I was done, Adrien was right at my door.
“Ready?” he asked and I smiled lightly.
“Yes.” I responded calmly.
“Alright.”
We both left the hotel area, and headed to the meeting area, which was the last time we had a meeting.
“Welcome everyone.” The speaker said to us with a smile, and we all responded.
We all settled down and listened keenly to all the ideas that were needed, and I also listened to some of the conversations they were having.
But while the meeting was ongoing, I noticed something strange. All through, Simon was staring at Adrien and I couldn't even make out what expression was on his face. talk more of what he had in his mind all the time his eyes were on Adrien.
It was so cringe.

After the meeting, we all shook hands and went our separate ways.
“So, remember our date, right?” Adrien said, with a smile.
“Of course,” I chuckled, feeling excitement bubble from the deep parts of my stomach.
“Okay then. Let's go.”
We both exited the hotel and went into the car ready to take us and I leaned against the back seat.
“What about Ethan? I thought you said he was going to come.”
“Yeah, not so sure about it anymore. "There's still a lot to do back at home, but just in case he gets done with it, and we're still there, he could come over,” Adrien replied.
“Alright then.”
The driver drove us until we got to our destination and it was a museum. I already thought it was just another fancy restaurant we were going to head to, but a museum was a nice place to go to as well.
We walked into the museum, and I was holding hands with Adrien as we drifted from one art painting to another.
“This is beautiful,” I complimented, staring at it with a smile.
“Ah. Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci. This is a portrait of Lisa Gherardini, the wife of a wealthy merchant. It's an enigmatic painting which is widely considered the most famous artwork in the world. Just take a look at the subtle, knowing smile and intricate details. "It's really fascinating sometimes,” Adrien said dreamily.
I didn't expect him to be an art person, but it was nice too. He didn't have to be a businessman who only cared about business. There had to be hobbies as well.
Then we moved on to the next painting and Adrien began to talk about it, but while he was lecturing me, snatches of being injected kept coming back to me and this time, I could see a man's face, but it was blurry.
I shook my head, not wanting to ruin the moment, especially as I still couldn't make out the face of the person that possibly injected me.
Besides, when someone injects one, it's for a purpose, but since nothing happened to me, then it had to be that my mind was only messing with me.
