CHAPTER 32
Emmy I sit on a beach watching the waves crash against the shore. My mom is sitting next to me smiling at me. It is her and not the Enchantress. The wind blows and messes my hair up. My mom put her arms around me. I lean into her and put my head on her shoulders. It is just us and no one else.
“My Little Bird, you can’t stay here,” My mom states as she kisses my head.
“But I want to. It’s so peaceful here.”
“I know Little Bird, but you have to fight. You have to win.”
“If I fight then I will hurt you.”
“I don’t care if you kill me, just kill this bitch that has taken over my body. I’ve saved just enough of my mind and magic to come to you in this dream. I’m going to show you how the Enchantress came to be. Her real name is Leoria, and she was a princess a long time ago.”
The beach changes to a medieval castle. There is a very beautiful woman in the tower. Her hair is dirty blonde and is very long. Her heart shaped face was beautiful, and she has deep green eyes. She is beautiful. This is her original form.
Leoria is sitting in her room brushing her hair, but her brush is magically brushing her hair without her touching her brush. She seems happy and peaceful, and nothing like the evil woman I met earlier.
The scene changes. Leoria is getting married to a man named Lucian, but Lucian has a hidden agenda. A dark agenda. The scene changed again. Leoria is walking with Lucian in the castle gardens. She is about to tell him she is with child, but he stabs her before she can tell him. He leaves her to die.
Leoria manages to get away and find a cabin in the woods. She was losing her child. Suddenly darkness takes over the cabin. Leoria was no longer a happy wedded woman. Her eyes turned black, and she screamed a horrible scream that chills me to my bones. The darkness that was around the cabin has gone into her. Leoria was now the Enchantress. Her child was gone. The hate in her eyes terrifies me. This was a woman out for revenge.
Leoria found Lucian and attacked him. She has him pinned down and asked him why he tried to kill her. He told her he could never love a creature that belonged to the devil. He knew she was a witch. Leoria killed her lover, but not before she made him have sex with her to replace the child that he killed.
The scene changes on the last time to show a string of events. The Enchantress goes around wreaking havoc among anyone who was sorry enough to cross her path. She had many children with many men making sure to spread her dark magic bloodline across the world. At one point she needed a new body, and took over a powerful witch, she did this every time the body she had failed her. She continued to have child after child throughout the decades.
When Travis said he was a direct descendant, he meant the Enchantress gave birth to him. Not many of her children survived, and if they did, their bloodline was diluted. Travis is one of the few of her children to live and keep his dark magic.
I’m then back on the beach with my mom.
“So, Lucian broke her heart?”
“Yes. He thought that by killing her he was getting rid of evil. Lucian knew that Leoria had the ability to become evil. There was a prophecy about her that she would turn evil. That’s why he thought she was from the devil. Lucian didn’t know that his actions would turn her into the evil being he was trying to prevent from seeing the light of day. There was always bound to be someone born with evil in them. Humans are born with evil intent, and so it’s the same for us magical beings. Light cannot exist without darkness. There is always a balance. The Enchantress tips that balance.”
“How did Lucian know she was a witch when he was human?”
“Lucian belonged to an order of men and women known as the Warriors. They know all about witches and warlocks. The Warriors are the human version of the Reapers. Ivy and Darren, your trainers, are members. The Warriors help make sure the balance between good and evil stays balanced. Carter and Avery are also members now as well. They became members the moment they joined your team. Carter can’t tell you yet. It’s killing him not to tell you. That’s why he’s been so distant. Don’t be mad at him, it's how the Warriors do things. They are a secretive bunch. They fight with Reapers which is why Carter and Avery can fight with you and your team.”
“Why didn't he tell me?”
“Because he hasn’t gotten the mark yet. Much like you must be sworn into the coven, Carter must be sworn into the warriors. Once he does that, he can bare the mark of the Warriors. The mark is a sword with wings on the side of it. He will get it on his right arm and so will Avery. They aren’t official members until they get the mark.” I recall seeing the mark on Ivy and Darren's upper right arms.
“Oh.”
“It’s not a secret, so don’t look at it like that. Now go back to your father and tell him I love him. Go back to your soulmate. Be brave, my Little Bird. I have faith in you.”
My mom stands and kisses my forehead, and then she is suddenly gone from my side. I miss her but I know I can save her. I’m going to try and save her. I don’t want to hurt her, but I may not have a choice.
Right now, I couldn’t think about that. I have to focus on finding my way back home. I need to get back to my loved ones. I’m sure they are worried about me. I have to be strong; I know I can be strong now. I will do what I must do no matter what it takes.
