CHAPTER 31

Travis As we run through the woods following Luna to Emmy, I see a streak of lighting in the air. I smile, my baby girl is tapping into her full power since she can control the weather like that. It won’t mean anything if we don't get to her. I sense the Enchantress’s presence. That sneaky witch was just waiting for Emmy to run off. To be on her own. Emmy may be strong and powerful, but she is not ready to take on the Enchantress by herself.

I hear Brie and Alice shout. “Over here!” In unison.

They have found her.

When I get to Emmy, she is laying on the ground with her left shoulder torn to shreds by claw marks. She has lost too much blood. Jason and Kenzie are trying to help her with their magic, but it isn't going to be enough. Emmy is dying. Whatever attacked her had poison on its claws. Emmy doesn't stand a chance. I must get her to the Knight’s Wood.

“She has been poisoned. We must get her Knights Wood leaves. Tell me you planted one around here.”

Vivian nods her head.

“We did, I'll take you to it.” Vivian declares.

“Good. Jason, get her to the healing wing,” I order.

Jason gives me a dirty look, but I don't care he would do what I said if he wanted Emmy to live. I leave with Vivian, and let the others take Emmy back to the manor.

The Knights Wood is a rare tree that could heal any poison known in the human or magical world. It is a unique tree, and only so many exist in the world. The tree has black and white bark with deep plum leaves. It is hidden to the human eye. The leaves from the tree are what heal. We find the tree, and we pick leaves from it. I don't know how many we would need since the poison is serious, and Emmy is badly wounded.

After we gather the leaves, we race back to the manor and into the healing wing. I place the leaves on Emmy’s shoulder. I kick everyone out except for Carter, Jason, and Vivian. Emmy would be mad if I made Carter leave her side. Jason and Vivian won't leave Emmy’s side so they can stay.

I also want Carter around because Emmy will be able to sense his presence and she will want to come back to her soulmate. This type of poison makes the person happy in a dream world so therefore they will never wake up, and simply die.

Luna is laying at the end of the bed refusing to leave her owner. We all are anxious and want Emmy to wake up right away, but this is something she must do on her own.

Hours pass, and Emmy doesn't seem like she is improving. Could we have been too late? I hope not. I’ve lost Gemma and Calder; I can't lose Emmy too. Emmy is strong, but she must want to live. The leaves can only do so much.

Carter is holding Emmy’s hand. He hasn't left her side. Jason is pacing the room like a caged animal. Vivian just sits in the corner staring at her granddaughter fighting for life. Emmy should have made some progress by now. I’m beginning to worry that we have lost her.
