Chapter 34: My Savior, My hope
I thrashed around, trying to use whatever magic flowed through my body. But it wasn't working.
"You are going to die here! Too bad your mates will never see you again!" He snarled while inching closer to where I stood.
Every time his steps echoed on the floor, my hands started shaking uncontrollably. "Don't come near me!" I yelled so loud that it shook the house.
But he didn't listen to me. The man kept walking, his mouth curling up into an evil smirk.
Fear began snaking into my heart, and my insides curled at his words. Despite it all, I knew what I must do.
*No way in hell he will notice the sheer panic in my eyes. I must survive this challenge that was thrown my way. But how can I do that if I have none of my magical abilities? What if I'm here alone for a longer time without my mates? Although I used everything I had to fight against him, it didn't work. There has to be something that I can do to fight this person.* I pondered while silently praying to the moon goddess.
Something about this whole situation was not right. It's like I am in a dark cloud that won't let go of me, and every time I try to fight it, it wraps itself even tighter around me.
I hoped she would send me the inner strength to overcome this situation. But I knew that was not going to be possible since I wasn't in my world.
Suddenly, the sound of something opening caught my attention. My breath hitched at the thought of another person I didn't know entering the room.
***Creak...***
He turned away from me and focused on the open door instead. His head moved from side to side as if he was looking for something or someone.
What-ifs swirled around in my mind while I observed him talking.
"Who's coming in here?" he whispered as he made his way to the door with slow, deliberate steps.
My heart pounded inside my chest while hearing him mumble under his breath.
*Who is he talking about? It's only us here, so why is he speaking like that? Are they a part of this man's scheme to scare me? If they are, it's working,* I wondered as the stranger spoke with little to no emotion.
As I watched him, a tranquil voice entered my mind. And a sense of calm flowed through my veins, urging me to allow him to take care of it.
Then, my eyes widened as he continued speaking to me in my mind. Not able to fully grasp who it was, questions ran through me.
*Who is talking to me?* I wondered while I continued trying to remove myself from the tendrils. It tightened even more until his voice was loud and clear at the same time.
"Everything is going to be alright, my mate! I will get you out of this situation." I heard them declare quietly.
Due to the chaos surrounding me, I couldn't understand what they were saying.
"What is going on? How is this happening?" I mumbled as the tendrils that surrounded my body started falling away rapidly.
It left me just enough room to peer at the sight before me.
And my goddess, what a handsome sight it was. The more I looked, the more I couldn't help but want to be closer to him. Yet, I was still stuck on this side of the room and didn't want to cause more harm than I already had.
Standing with his arms crossed over his chest, Gabriel bared his teeth as he faced the stranger who kept me from continuing the journey.
"This... This is what I have waited for. Although I wish I could have saved myself." I grunted as a blush crept up my cheeks.
In all my life, I was never one to be called a damsel in distress. But, now being considered one isn't too bad since Gabriel is here, and I can't do anything about it.
Subconsciously, I sighed a breath of relief.
The person that I never thought would appear again was right there. As his voice entered my ear, longing and awe filled my bones.
Wow! I can't believe he's here! It's as though everything was just a nightmare. Thinking I was alone on this journey is false since he found his way back to me. And I'm happy he did. I wondered while watching him save me from the evil man's clutches.
Something I never thought I could fathom crept into my mind.
*This has to be a dream. I never thought I would see the day when he would arrive here rapidly. But is it only a figment of my imagination?*
I thought when out of nowhere, his voice, a stark contrast to what I was in, was loud and clear enough for me to hear.
"How dare you do this to my mate! You have no right to do that!" Gabriel screamed while running toward him with immense speed.
Once close enough, he sank his teeth into the man's neck and ripped him to shreds. A guttural scream escaped the man's mouth as he vanished into thin air.
Then he faced my direction, reaching his hand to mine. His eyes bore into mine, sending shivers down my spine.
I shivered at the sensation, unaware of the chaos that was about to enter our lives.
"Gabe... Did you do that for me?" I asked, my voice just above a whisper. I couldn't believe the lengths he had gone to protect me; then again, he always had.
Gabriel nodded, his eyes searching my face.
"Yeah, I did do that," he replied with a low and comforting voice. Gabriel inhaled through his nose, allowing ease to flow through him.
"We have to leave now before the portal closes," Gabriel said with a neutral facial expression.
A portal? He came here through a damn portal? I thought while trying to understand everything that was happening. My eyes widened with every word that floated through my brain.
I nodded as my arms tightened around his neck, not willing to let go.
"Okay, let's get back home."
