FOR CHRIS

FOR CHRIS
CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO

DIANA

I was sick with worry just thinking about the kind of situation Chris was in now after he beat up Dylan.

Although he did it for me, I could not feel touched. I knew that Chris needed that land, otherwise, he wouldn't have come all the way here.

And now, he had lost it, instead of warmth, the only thing that I felt was a deep sense of guilt.

All of this happened because of me.

Chris frowned, a look of confusion on his face.

"Fix this? What are you talking about?" He asked me.

I sneered, "because you lost your temper and beat up Dylan, you can no longer buy the land, you came all the way here for that, and now you have lost it? Is this what you wanted? Who asked you to lose your temper? We could have just walked away and nothing would have happened!" I complained.

I had a troubled look on my face. Dylan was a petty man, and even if Chris was offering a higher price, he would never sell the land to him.

Besides, knowing Dylan, he would never let things rest at this.

In fact, I was already sure that he was planning how he was going to try back at Chris right now.

I didn't want Chris to be Dylan's target just because of me. Dylan was a demon and if he wanted to mess with someone, no one could stop him.

"Do you realize what you've done?" I scolded Chris once again.

He smiled, and I froze. Did he think this was funny? How could he be smiling in a situation like this?

"What the heck is wrong with you? What are you smiling about?" Was he not as worried as I was?

He slipped his hands into his pockets, a lazy look on his face.

"It's just a land, I'll just get another one," he said simply.

"You....if it were just a land, then you wouldn't have come all the way over here for it.".

I really hated this , I was losing my mind here, and Chris was just calm as if all of this had nothing to do with him.

"Look, Diana, I did this for you. He was trying to take advantage of you....I had to teach him a lesson to let him know that you're not someone that he can touch. Besides, aren't you grateful to me?" He asked me, an eyebrow raised.

"Why the heck would I be grateful to you? Did I ask you to? Chris, tell me the truth, did you do this because you wanted me to feel guilty?"

Chris hated me, and so I could not understand why he would throw away the land that he had been working so hard to get just because Dylan was trying to take advantage of me.

It did not make sense at all.

The smile was gone from Chris' face, and I knew that he was angry now, but I was too stimulated to stop.

"Is that what you think of me? Do you think I have the time to go around trying to make you feel guilty? Diana, you think too much of yourself! Why on earth would you think that I am trying to make you feel guilty?" Chris sneered at me.

His words were sharp, and I knew that he war trying to hurt me, but I welcomed the pain.

Chris should hate me, he should never stop hating me. There was no way a person like me deserved forgiveness.

"Yes, there's no reason for you to do this for me. Does that mean you just wanted to lash out? Chris, you need to stop doing things like this, or else, I am going to get the wrong idea that you're still in love with me," I taunted him.

Chris froze at my words, and he looked lost when I heard this.

For a second, I wondered if I had been spot on. I wondered if there was a chance that Chris never got over me, the way I never got over him.

However, he just sneered in my face .

"You are thinking too much of yourself again, Diana, why the heck would I still be in love with you? I would have lost my mind to be in love with a woman as terrible as you!" He snapped at me.

Although tears threatened to roll down my cheeks when I heard this, I just nodded my head and held it all in.

This was great....Chris should hate me....that was the only way I would feel a bit better about all the things that has happened so far .

"Yes, you should hate me. And I don't want to owe you anything either. I am going to find a way to make Dylan sell the land to you," I said.

I did not give Chris a chance to stop me, I just turned and walked out of the hotel room.

I heard a loud crashing noise as soon as I walked in. It was obvious that Chris had broken something.

I sighed, thinking if it was really a good idea for me to be working for Chris.

As long as we were in each other's presence, we would just keep torturing each other and holding on to the hate from years ago.

Perhaps....it was time for me to really move on Chris. I had to start looking for a new job as soon as we got back.

......

"Miss Diana, are you here to see Mr. Dylan or Mrs. Rita? Mr. Dylan just got back and I am not sure he will want to see guests right now...."

"Get out of my way!" I pushed the butler that was trying to stop me from going in out of my way and I made my way into the house in brisk steps.

When I left , I promised myself I would never step my foot into this house again, however, I was back here , for Chris.

I chuckled in my heart , this was just ironic, considering the fact that I had come here for Chris in the first place .

"Dylan, where are you? Come out! We need to talk!" I yelled.
