Chapter 7 taking her back
Jacob’s P.O.V. (Continued)
I admired their courage to stand up against the more powerful species than theirs for Anaya and also felt happy for her for having such friends in her life.
Anaya was truly blessed, but I had no time to explain everything to them.
“Anaya is not an ordinary human, Rose, and you know this very well. She is an alpha human. I need to inject her with wolfsbane so that I can take her to the pack without any hitch, and trust me, I am doing this unwillingly.” I could see that they didn’t believe a single word coming out of my mouth, even when I brought my most convincing tone.
“Let me take her to the pack, Rose. If I fail today, it will be her father the next, and that man has lost his sanity already. To take Anaya back, he will not hesitate to kill innocent people around you guys.” I still try to convince them by telling them what the next thing can be.
“I assure you that I will not let a single harm come to Anaya at any cost. I swear on my life that I will bring Anaya back as soon as possible.” I still continued convincing them while mind-linking Fred.
“Ask two of them to spray the gas at a slow rate, targeting both of them.”
I knew Anaya very well. If Rose and Nancy lose a single strand of hair in our presence, Anaya will bury us 20 feet under the ground without any hesitation.
“Go back, Jacob. Put her back and get out of our home.” Rose roared at us, opening the safety lock in the process.
“Hold the breath.” Fred yelled through mind-link. I immediately held my breath, holding Anaya tightly in my embrace while looking at both Rose and Nancy expressionlessly.
“I am sorry, girls, but it’s time for us to leave.” I apologized to them with a sincere apologetic gaze. Rose narrowed her eyes at first, and her eyes widened in shock the next second.
Bang!
I immediately ducked down as soon as she shot, but her body swayed. “Rose.” Nancy yelled in panic, and her body started swaying too.
I signaled Fred at the same time. He didn’t waste a second and injected wolfsbane into Anaya.
“Traitor.” Rose snarled, shooting daggers at me through her eyes in hatred, before dropping on the floor unconsciously.
Nancy fell next.
“Close all the windows and doors securely. Rick, you stay here and keep an eye on them from the shadows. Leave when they wake up.” I instructed my team while walking out of the apartment in long strides.
They are Anaya’s friends. She will kill me in a blink if she learns that I left them unguarded when they were unconscious.
“Yes, Beta.” Rick replied to me with a slight bow and moved away.
Fred opened the back door of my SUV. “Are you sure that she will not kill us when she wakes up?” Fred asked me in a hushed voice, sounding anxious.
I glared hard at him before entering the back seat.
Anaya’s P.O.V.
My head was pounding so hard that I felt explosions inside my brain. I tried to open my eyes when they were so heavy that I felt as if someone had glued my eyelashes.
“Don’t try to be so hard on yourself, sis. You are still under the effect of wolfsbane.” My brain immediately alerted as soon as I heard the familiar but sinister voice of a woman.
“Oh my, sis! You broke my heart. You already forgot me?” My jaw clenched, and a low growl erupted from my mouth as I slowly opened my eyes.
I should have recognized her the second she opened her mouth.
The last memories rushed to my brain, and I felt like killing both Riley and Jacob without a second thought.
Jacob's betrayal stung hard, but what more can I expect from these people? They all are driven by their own selfish desires, and Jacob was no better than them.
The headache was still so severe, but I stared at her coldly. Her cunning emerald eyes, just like our father's, were filled with hatred and killing intent.
“What is there about you to remember?” I asked her coldly, without hiding the sarcasm and disdain.
That nasty smirk dancing on her lips till now vanished immediately, and her face twisted in rage.
My hands and legs were tied, but I wasn’t bothered about that.
I gave my body time to heal so that I can have good stamina to deal with them.
Because I can’t think straight with this pounding headache, and what about the wolfsbane in my system?
Well, wolfsbane does affect me to an extent, but thanks to myself being half wolf, I knew that I had already gotten over with that.
Well, they don’t know this, though.
“I don’t know why Dad has to bring back when I can deal with that alpha by myself. You are nothing but a disgrace to our family and our pack. You are more worthless than an omega. Yet Dad thinks that only you can solve this. What are you? A lowly and disgusting human?” She spat angrily, spouting her hatred directed at me.
This wasn’t new. For more than five years, I heard this from both my father and Riley on a regular basis.
It hurt so much at that time that I ended up sleeping while crying too hard.
But now, it only makes me laugh coldly.
“Why are you laughing? You should be thinking about how to run away the way you did before. You should be thinking about how to escape from here, or else you will drop dead when he comes here.” Riley yelled at me, extending her claws, ready to strike me at any time.
I laughed harder, and with a flick of my wrists, I broke the ropes around my wrists.
“What the fk?” she yelled in astonishment, her eyes now wide-opened in shock. She took a step back in panic.
“Do you really think that bringing me here will help you and your pathetic father escape the mess?” I asked her sarcastically, jerking my legs a bit harder, breaking the ropes tied around my ankles in the process.
“No, Riley. You are wrong. I have no ties with this pack. Hence, I don’t need to be on your side. In fact, now you need to think about how to escape from me.” I continued speaking, sarcastic and cold in my tone, but I didn’t forget to add a hint of threat.
She stumbled back on her feet backward while looking at me in horror.
“What are you trying to do? I ….. I am warning you. Dad will kill you if you do something to me.” She screamed at the top of her lungs when I slowly stood up from the bed; my moves were deliberate and predatory.
“I believe you, Riley. He can do that, but you will be dead to see him attacking me.” I smiled sinisterly before doing something that I forgot a long time ago that I could do.
