Chapter 17 she is born alpha
Lucifer’s P.O.V.
I put my unconscious mate on the bed gently and moved all the hair from her face to behind her ear.
She was breathing shallowly as if she was having difficulty in breathing.
"I just got you, mate. There is no way that I will let you go." I murmured to her while stroking her face gently.
She was beautiful.
Even when she was too weak to stand up, the way she protected her people and faced me without any fear, I knew when I fell for her.
My face resembled her first love. It hurt her the first time she saw me, but I never saw disdain in her eyes for me because of the scar.
She faced me fiercely, treating me as a completely different individual, but I didn't know from where my obsession came.
Not only me, but Beast also wanted him.
I had finished this pack yesterday, but I stopped myself from doing that because of her, and now I was glad that I listened to Theo for the first time.
"Alpha." I looked at the person who called me and saw the same doctor who treated Anaya yesterday standing at the foot of the bed.
I stood up and gave the space to him
The next few minutes until he finishes examining Anaya.
“What’s wrong with her? Is she still weak?” I asked him worriedly when he stood up after finishing connecting Anaya with IV drip again.
He took a deep breath and looked at me with a serious gaze.
He should be in his late thirties.
“There is something you need to know now, Alpha.” He spoke to me in a serious tone.
I didn’t like the choice of his words, but right now, he was the only one who could explain to me what was wrong with Anaya.
“When Anaya was 12 years old, all the future generations' high-rankers and warriors accepted her as their alpha.” He spoke further in the same serious way, but it only made me widen my eyes in shock.
“She is a human by birth, but she has some exceptional abilities that made her far better than any other alpha werewolf. Well, I can’t say about all the alphas, but she is definitely a more powerful and capable alpha than her father.”
I listened to him intently, masking my shock.
She was thrown out of the pack by Alpha Alfred when she was fifteen, and before she left the pack, she commanded all the people under her command to stay with the pack and protect her. That’s why Beta Jacob went to take her back. They didn’t work under Alpha Alfred’s command but followed what their real alpha commanded to them.”
This was hard to believe, but I believed it.
Because I also took over the pack at the age of 12, commanding everyone to submit to me.
“But Anaya is a human. Are you sure that she was born as a human?" I asked him while knitting my brows tightly. I suspected witchcraft here.
“Unfortunately, she is, Alpha, but she has all the capabilities of a born alpha except an internal wolf. That’s why she refused to call you her alpha.” The doctor answered me in the same serious tone.
“Accepting you as her alpha means she made a choice for all of them who are loyal to her. No wonder she refused.” Beast remarked in a low voice, admiring Anaya’s protectiveness towards her people.
“Why is she unconscious?” I asked the doctor in a grim tone, still processing that this pack belonged half to Alfred and half to Anaya.
“This is something that I am also trying to understand, Alpha Lucifer.” He replied to me and clicked his tongue in the end, jerking his head a little.
“Normally, a human doesn’t have any effect of accepting a werewolf as his or her mate until they are marked. Because accepting a mate is related to the heart, and for a human, a mate bond is kind of a love relationship. But in your and Anaya’s case, this is completely different. Did you feel anything, anything th.. that made you feel like it was coming from her, not your own emotions, after she accepted you as her mate?” he asked me in a troubled tone.
I narrowed my eyes while listening to his question but nodded in response after a few seconds.
Theo entered the room at the same time.
“Damn!” The doctor exclaimed in shock and looked at Anaya in admiration.
“Her acceptance tethered two of you through a mate bond, Alpha Lucifer. This…. This is not normal… the mate bond is like a bridge with two doors on each end – one in both the mates. The acceptance opened those doors, and they became one through the mate bond. But.” He clicked his tongue once again, exasperated and astonished at the same time.
“He… her acceptance created that bridge between you two, Alpha. This is not possible, not even possible for fated mates, let alone chosen mates."
My body trembled hard when I processed his words.
Theo put his hand on my shoulder from behind, trying to calm me down through our bond.
Did I just throw her in death's mouth?
“She is weak because her body used all her strength to create that bridge.” The doctor was still looking at Anaya with a complicated gaze.
“Is there any danger to her life because of that?” Theo asked him anxiously, and I snapped my head in Theo's direction, my eyes still unfocused as I was still trying to process what I just did.
I was cursed. I can’t have a fated mate, but I can take a chosen mate.
Then why is Anaya in danger?
Why did her body create that bridge? Why her when Beast could have done that in a heartbeat?
“I… I’m sorry, Alpha. My knowledge is not that vast. I need to discuss her case with my superiors. I will send you the report after finishing that discussion with them. This is completely new for all of us. L… let me find if there is something like this is mentioned in our history books or in any medical scripture.” The doctor answered Theo, stammering a little, but sounded more excited.
“She is not a test subject, mutt. I want a way to save her if her life is in danger by any means.” I threatened him angrily, my hand almost reached his neck.
“Go to Anaya, Lucifer. Let me take care of this.” Theo instructed me sternly.
I sneered but walked to the bed where my mate was now sleeping peacefully.
“One more thing, Alpha.” I groaned angrily when the doctor spoke again behind me.
“It seems that she has a blood oath with someone. The only person who can mind-link her.”
I flipped my body in his direction, widening my eyes in shock, completely stunned by what he said.
“Come with me.” Theo grabbed him by the collar and dragged him out of the room.
“She…. She can mind-link to someone?” Beast exclaimed aloud in shock, but jealousy was evident in his voice.
