Chapter 16 she accepted her fate
Lucifer’s warriors immediately pressed everyone harder than earlier. They didn't need words from their alpha. His one gaze was enough for them to understand his next order.
A few warriors from Anaya’s pack, who had already lost so much blood earlier, fainted on the spot. Even Jacob groaned in immense pain, looking at Anaya with a complicated gaze.
This wasn’t the outcome he had anticipated.
He brought back Anaya so that Anaya could take over the pack from Alfred, not to exchange her life as a bargaining chip.
Now he regretted bringing her back. He looked at her apologetically, tears filling his eyes in despair.
Anaya didn’t pay attention to him, but her heart was in turmoil.
She could still walk away, leaving all of them to their fate.
Being an assassin, she was trained to be immune to emotions like sympathy and empathy, but for a wolf, his or her pack is like a second family.
As an alpha blood, and raised by a Luna by responsibility, she was taught not to abandon her family if they are innocent.
In the present condition, her original family had no place in her heart, but the warriors and their families are completely innocent and at her will now.
Leaving them to accept their death is like betraying her mother’s teaching.
“Y…. you don’t need t…. to give in, Anaya. T… this pack did n… othing to … to save your mother b… ack then. We watched you thrown out of the pack but did nothing. Leave now, Anaya.” Suddenly a warrior in the worst condition spoke to her; his voice broke because of the pain and dizziness, but he remembered correctly what they did to her.
“Go back, Anaya. I am sorry to bring you back against your will.” Jacob also spoke in a hoarse voice, filled with pain and guilt.
Anaya listened to them while looking at Lucifer coldly. Lucifer was amazed by Jacob and others who urged Anaya to leave. One after another, almost everyone present there except Alfred and Winnie urged Anaya to go back.
Beast growled aloud, clearly pissed by their voices.
“I want her at any cost, Lucifer. Kill them, but don’t let her go away at any cost.” Beast demanded angrily, growling so hard that Lucifer felt a headache.
"I have a condition." Anaya suddenly spoke in a firm voice, controlling all her emotions, her gaze calm like the surface of the lake water.
“I am listening.” Lucifer replied to her immediately.
“You will take an oath that you will not involve yourself with any other she-wolf or a female from any species for the rest of your life if I accept you as my mate.” She demanded calmly, keeping her head high.
Everyone widened their eyes in shock.
People from Anaya’s pack didn’t anticipate that Anaya would still sacrifice her life for them.
People from Lucifer’s pack were shocked that a human put a demand in front of their alpha, who is known for his cruelty and short temper. They were confused from the very beginning of Anaya's appearance here. Their alpha was behaving completely out of character, and now this absurd demand from a human.
“I will take over the Luna position in your pack and fulfill all my duties as their Luna, but you will never force your desires on me until I get ready to have a life with you. You will respect my freedom, and I will do the same thing. Think about betraying the bond, and I will leave you and your pack the next second. You will not stop me.” She added it without any hesitation, her eyes locked with Lucifer.
Lucifer and Beast were shocked by her demand, but it only brought a sly smile to Lucifer’s lips.
“Agree to her. She is the only woman who is not scared of our ugliness and challenges us. If I have to wait for her all my life, I will. The only condition is that she would be with me.” Beast yelled excitedly, wagging his tail furiously.
“Do you want me to sign an agreement?” He asked slyly, making Anaya grimace, but she was now the one with the upper hand.
“That’s better.” She agreed without breaking the eye-lock.
She knew what she was doing, and she had no regret about her decision.
She didn’t have any reason to live her life anymore. If accepting her fated mate can save lives, she is ready to face that.
“You have my word. I, Alpha Lucifer Hawthrone, and my wolf, Beast Hawthrone, swear in front of the people from the Dark Shadow Pack and the Night Howl Pack that I will never get intimate with any other woman other than Anaya Rivers White. From this moment onwards, my wolf and I solely belong to Anaya Rivers White. If I break this oath at any point of my life, death can end my life at that very moment.”
Lucifer was loud, commanding, and firm on his oath.
The next jolt of electricity hit Anaya so hard that her knees lost their strength completely.
Lucifer noticed the swaying of her body.
He threw Winnie away, and before anyone could understand what happened, he was in front of Anaya.
He wrapped his hand around her waist and pulled her to his chest.
The sparks that generated from their touch into Anaya’s body made her shudder so hard that Lucifer felt as if she were having a seizure.
He held her tightly against his chest.
Anaya gasped for air, clutching her chest to calm her furiously beating heart.
“He is cursed, Anaya. You are signing death.” Jacob screamed at the top of his lungs through mind-link.
Anaya couldn’t tell him that the moon goddess played a twisted game with her and this cursed alpha was now her fated mate.
“I, Alpha Anaya Rivers White, accept Alpha Lucifer Hawthorne and his wolf, Beat Hawthorne, as my mate and my soulmate. At this moment onwards, my soul and I belong to them.” She accepted Lucifer as her mate while gasping for air.
She felt dizzy and knew that she would faint at any moment. So, she finished her oath in one breath.
Both Lucifer and Anaya felt something snap inside them, tethering their souls to each other.
Lucifer and Beast growled aloud when Anaya’s emotions hit them through the mate bond formed between them.
"Damn it. The tethering.... she is losing." Beast growled fearfully.
For the first time, Beast felt the fear.
The fear of losing someone very important to him.
Beast's revelation startled Lucifer. He immediately scooped Anaya into his embrace in bridal style.
"Send all the injured people to the hospital. Lock the alpha family to their villa next to the pack house. Call the most experienced doctor to the pack house." Lucifer commanded to Theo while striding towards the packhouse. His steps were hurried, filled with urgency.
"Take over the pack, but don't kill anyone. This is your Luna's pack now." He added the next command while walking away.
Anaya put her hand on his chest, resting her head on his shoulder, and let the darkness bring some peace to both her heart.
