Chapter 84 Untitled Chapter
Chapter 84 Untitled Chapter
GIANNA
“They even took me to their boss, so I could talk to him and find out what he knew, they didn't hurt me. And if it weren't for them I would have been dead.”
Sure, if I wasn't trying to escape them I wouldn't have gone out in the snowstorm and met with an accident.
But that's beside the point.
“They saved my life,” I finally ended.
Deliberately skipping over a lot of details that were best left unsaid. I also didn't tell them how Tessa had dared me to choose a man for the night and how I had taken the bait which had led me to the twins.
“No, what? That can't be all. Grams? Surely you could see the problem here. I know you said I shouldn't talk but there's a lot of discrepancies in Gianna's story.” Her face was blank, and I know, I just know where she's heading with this.
“Coz, you can't recount a story like this, you gotta tell it as it is, just saying. Even if I don't bring it up the cops will. They will ask where they kept you hostage, what they did to you? Why didn't they bring you home when they realized the truth? And how you get all those bruises on your body.”
Just like I feared Chloe wasn't about to let me get away with it so easily. I glare at her, my face red as a tomato, mortified beyond belief.
“Frank, park the car, Grams said to drop Chloe off if she speaks again,” I reminded.
“What? Don't mind her Frank, ” Chloe hurriedly countered looking straight at Bridget.
“Ma’am?” Frank said, clearly torn.
“Keep driving Frank,” Bridget ordered calmly. I glance at her, my eyes looking at her with betrayal. Her blank stare told me she's not budging until she gets her answers.
“Chloe raised a valid question. How did you get those bruises,” she deadpanned, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
Aunt Layla, Tessa and Chloe all wore a similar look on their faces, it is clear now to all of them how I got those bruises but they all want to hear me say it just to embarrass me.
“Not that it's any of your damn business, but every bruise on my body is there with my permission. I'm into that kind of thing. Also whoever had sent those pictures obviously photoshopped them. He'd exaggerated the whole thing to make it look like I was abused and I wasn't,” I explained with frustration.
My face burned furiously with embarrassment. For a while there was only silence as they thought about everything I had said.
“Look into my eyes Anna,” Bridget suddenly said, holding my eyes with hers, which had seen a lot of things in her seventy years of life and were very intimidating. Something in her eyes gave me hope.
“Did those men force themselves on you?”
“No Bridget.”
“Did they force you into doing something you didn't want to do?”
“No.” I didn't hesitate, while they'd kidnap me, it was because they thought that's what I wanted. Everything they did to me was things I was craving, and I won't change any part of it.
“Did they threaten you, or blackmail you? Is that why you are saying all these?”
“No, Grams. Everything I told you is the truth.”
“Are you lying to me right now?”
“No, absolutely not.” She sighed then nodded.
“I believe you.” I sighed, marginally assured.
“Come to think of it, why would they hang around where they know they could obviously be arrested if they were guilty,” Tessa admits begrudgingly.
“I told you they were innocent, they never hurt me,” I said, hiding my face behind a bottle of water I had, in the front console I'd noticed it earlier. I uncapped it and started guzzling it down.
“I bet those bruises aren't the only thing they gave you,” Chloe said with a smirk.
“I don't know what you're talking about.” I said hoping she'll just let it be. But I should have known.
“You little freak, you let them spank you and did dirty naughty things to you didn't you?” Chloe asked with a sly look in her eyes. I literally choked coughing hysterically. They all burst out into laughter, even stoic Frank had chuckled, though he'd pretended he was clearing his throat.
They were laughing at my expense, while I felt like sinking into the ground and hiding forever, not used to speaking about things like this openly though I had heard more embarrassing things from my aunties than this as a teenager growing up it was never about me.
I've always been very private about certain things, but their laughter, seeing how they took what I told them in stride and how they didn't judge me.
It released a knot inside me, it also gave me hope that they believed me, that Dane and Jax would be free and back to their lives. I just hope everything goes well.
“Honestly Gianna, I didn't know you had it in you. Guess, we can't call you the cold fish now,” Chloe said.
“What?” I swore.
“Oops, that was a sleep of the tongue.” I shake my head and turn away.
“So did you do it?” she poke me when I didn't answer.
“Did you?”
“Of course you did, who wouldn't with those big gorgeous men, you lucky bitch!”
“Chloe!”
“Enough Chloe.” we said at the same time.
Grandma finally put a stop to her merciless teasing, knowing there's no end to it. She and Tessa and of course my aunts are the only ones who could get away with teasing me like this.
“One thing I don't understand is why would anyone sign you up with a male escort agency, have you kidnapped, then send incriminating pictures of you and these male escorts and get them arrested? I'm getting a bad feeling about this Anna,” Grams said soberly.
Just like that, the momentary lightheartedness we felt when Chloe teased me, drained away leaving only a grim silence as Frank drove closer to the police station.
