The Mate Bond I

The Mate Bond I
He had claimed her that night.
Arthur walked to the window and gripped the ledge so tight it broke. His mind was in a whirlwind.
His wolf marked her. That stupid creature marked her that night. And he didn't know till now.
"Fk! Shit! Hell of a disaster!" He cursed and muttered more profanities that made her wince.
How did this happen? It couldn't be true. He didn't remember. But why did the mark call to him? Why did notice her lavender fragrance?
What had he fking done?
Myra glanced at him warily. He looked tensed, almost feral. Like someone had stabbed him.
"You look like you've seen a ghost" she commented, her lips twitching. "And that serves you right"
He turned slowly—too slowly and stared at her quietly. His calm eyes made the hairs on her neck stand on end.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" She asked, taking a step back instinctively.
He studied her with the same neutral gaze then crossed the room in three strides.
She swallowed, goosebumps erupted on her skin. She backed away, managing to hold her chin high.
"Why the sudden silence? Did you see a ghost Alpha? Or are you nursing some bruises?"
No answer. Just a single step forward that lessened the distance between them.
"Alpha? What are you doing?" Worry began to seep through her voice.
Arthur watched her with slightly narrowed eyes and came too close for comfort. His fingers flexed as if he was about to strike.
She took another step but her back hit the cold wall. Dead end.
"Alpha?" She said quietly.
Arthur leaned closer, placing a hand on the wall.
Her heart pounded, her neck tilted to hold his gaze that was eerily calm.
"Alpha—"
In a blink, his hand came around her throat, tight enough to make her blood cold.
"How did you get the mark?" He questioned softly, but his tone was rough.
Myra's eyes widened in alarm. "Let me go! Leave me!"
His grip was like steel, cold and tight enough to kick the air out of her lungs.
"Tell me" he whispered. "How did you get the mark?"
She gasped but air was far from her reach. "Let me... Alpha.... go" she wheezed out.
"How did you get my mark?" He repeated calmly, unconcerned her face was turning blue. "Answer me princess"
"A-Alpha... A-Alpha" her voice was struggling to come out, her lungs burning from lack of oxygen.
"ANSWER ME!" He roared, slamming her against the wall. His eyes were alive with unleashed fury.
"How did you get my mark?! Answer my question"
Myra's heart trembled in fear. She scratched his fingers, attempting miserably to escape his choking hold.
"I.... I... Alpha"
"You seduced me. You wanted the bond. You wanted to trap me"
"I don't know anything" she cried out, thrashing in his grip.
His fingers squeezed her neck hard, his eyes a dangerous shade of anger. "You wanted my mark, my bond.... why?"
"I don't know any mark" she forced the words past the burning sensation in her lungs. "What mark?"
"You're bound to me. You're my.... mate" he snarled with disgust, as if the word itself was a taboo.
He flung her to the floor carelessly.
Pain shot through her but it didn't dull the sweetness of unrestrained air. She gasped and crawled away from him.
"W-What m-mate?" She coughed out.
He pinned her with a dark look. Never had she seen him this furious.
"You're my mate" he spat out like it was bile.
She massaged her neck and stared up at him with bewildered eyes.
Had he lost his mind? What the hell did he mean by mate?
"I don't understand. What gibberish are you talking about? What is mate?"
His fingers ached to tear her apart, to rip that abomination on her neck. He glared down at her like she was dirt beneath his boots.
"I marked you princess. I made you mine that night." He spelt it out clearly. "You fking tied me to you"
Slowly, realization hit her like a ton of bricks.
"You.... You can't be...." She breathed.
He scowled and walked over to the window again, his fury was on the verge of breaking. He leaned against the slab, trying to think through the storm in his mind.
Fate was mocking him. It was pointing fingers at him.
Of all people.... her? It had to be her? This was an awful nightmare too cruel for words.
When did this happen? And how couldn't he recognise it sooner?
'Mine. Ours. She's mine' the wolf said.
He hated his sick wolf. It was all because of it he was in this hideous mess. Lust, desire and primal satisfaction had clouded his mind and left only her—her sweet scent, her soft sighs, her slender curves.
Now the mark was a torn in his flesh. What had been in his stupid mind when he did that?
He wanted to kill someone, he wanted to put a fist into the wall.
Instead he ran a hand down his face and looked at nothing in particular.
Her shaky voice came from behind him. "What did you do to me?"
His lips twitched. She was either foolish or just plain stupid. He knew she was a mix of both.
He kept his back to her, his eyes fixed on the sky that looked as black as his thoughts.
Myra rose on trembling legs. "What happened Alpha? What do you mean by mate? What have you done?"
He was painfully silent, hardly glancing her away. It was as if she didn't exist.
Her blue eyes hardened with suspicion. She hoped it wasn't true.
Her fingers involuntarily brushed her neck, feeling the jagged edges of the bruise.
Her brows pulled to a frown. Was that what he meant by mark?
"Is this what you're calling mark?" She asked, pointing to her neck.
He turned slightly and burned a hole into her neck. She recoiled at the wildness in his eyes.
"What is this Alpha?" She demanded, coming closer.
He turned away, his jaw clenched tight.
Her patience snapped. She rushed to him and grabbed him by the collar.
"What did you do to me Alpha? What have you done?"
"I bound you to me alright?! My wolf marked you that night. He made you mine!" He exploded.
Silence followed. The kind of silence that followed after a bombshell.
Her hands dropped limply to her sides. "You did what? You bound me?"
She took a step back, the force of his words hit her. "You marked me?"
Another step. "Without my consent?"
Myra clutched the table, her face drained of all colour. Her head began to spin. "I'm.... your mate?" She asked incredulously.
He didn't answer. What could he say?
That he had sealed their fate in the throes of passion? That his wolf recognized her even when he didn't?
Fear stabbed her heart. What did he mean?
That..... she was his?
