Chapter 46

“You seem so sure for yourself.” Elder John growled. “But yet no one has come around to try and stop me from doing what I have done to you.” He said looking down at her. “You are almost ready to go outside, once there the war will start. Everyone will come and try and take you this is going to become a fun and entertaining game.”

Ivy wanted to show him that she was stronger than he gave her credit for, but she was still strapped down to the table, and he wasn’t about to let her try and get up. Her body burned from all the torture, and she was already coughing up blood. She knew her time was limited. She wanted to reach out to Quinn to tell him this was all a trap and that he would die if he came to her. She didn’t want to see another one die for her. She felt powerless but she didn’t want anyone to know that. She had to fight.

“Why don’t you let me up, so I can show you that you aren’t going to win,” Ivy growled barely able to turn her head now.

“You are far too weak to fight me Ivy, but you act like you can fight.” Elder John laughed. “When we go outside, I will allow you to try and fight me, but you will see that you will fail.”

“We will see, the white dwellers are going to give me my powers back and you will soon fall at my feet and beg me now to kill you.” She said closing her eyes, she was going to pass out again, but she wanted to make sure he knew that he wasn’t going to be the last one to speak.

Samuel touched Ivy’s face. “Her temperature is high.” He said sounding concerned.

“No shit, she’s trying to stay alive, trying to fight our magic,” John said rolling his eyes. “Don’t worry she isn’t going to be able to fight it for long. She will have to die one way or another. Soon we will overtake her body.” He growled. “Stop touching her, you are just giving her comfort and I want her to suffer.”

“You have become something else.” Samuel snapped. “What happened to you when you were gone for months, something has changed in you. Something dark?”

“Yeah I have become darker, now shut up.” He growled. “It’s time we need to head upstairs, and outside, I don’t want to hear anything more about her. She will sit and suffer and nothing more.” He said glancing at Ivy who wasn’t moving anymore.

Samuel carried Ivy up the stairs, her eyes still closed. She was barely breathing but just enough to attract Quinn and anyone else that wanted her energy. This was the perfect plan if someone wanted to steal her energy.

Samuel felt her breathing was slowing, he felt bad that she had to die, he didn’t want to see her suffer, and she had already suffered enough. Samuel knew that he was evil but something about this whole thing was off, and he didn’t like this. He didn’t like how Elder John was acting. He was acting darker than he was before.

“Lay her in the middle of the crystals.” Elder John ordered. “I have to charge them, and once they are in place everyone should come. This is going to be a fun game.”

“You think you can beat everyone here?” Samuel said laying Ivy down in the middle. “I don’t want to die because you think you’ll win.”

“I know I am going to be able to win, you just stand over there and watch for Quinn, he knows we’re here and he is going to come. Nick should be bringing him, and what he doesn’t know if Nick isn’t Nick.”

“Wait what?” Samuel asked confused.

“Don’t worry when he gets here you will see what I mean.” He said with a sinister smile. “Now shut up so I can get these going.” He said closing his eyes. He began to chant, soon the crystal lit up. “Done. Now we wait until they come. This is exciting.” He said backing away.

Elder John didn’t have to wait long; Quinn and Nick appeared a short time later. Quinn looked around; he expected some kind of ambush. “I know you’re here John.” He snapped.

“Ah yeah I am here,” John said coming closer to Ivy. “I’ve been waiting for you; your girl has been through hell.” He said with his hands behind his back. “But it seems you haven’t cared too much, otherwise you would have been here a long time ago.”

“I have felt her pain.” He growled looking down at her. “I see you have been hurting her more than I have felt.”

“I also have a confession,” John said with a sinister smile.

“Oh?” Quinn snapped narrowing his eyes.

John looked past Quinn, “Yeah, you see Nick isn’t Nick.” He laughed.

Before Quinn could react, Nick turned into a dark dweller and stabbed him with a dagger coated with poison. He went down near Ivy.

“You see when I knew you loved her, and you wanted her to be safe, I had to figure out a perfect plan, and tricking you was easy. You were blinded by the love of a white dweller. You’ve become weak.” He said kneeling next to Quinn. “So now you’re going to die.” He said taking the dagger from the dark dweller. “I used this exact poison on her parents, it works wonders on those that fail the dark side, and since you’re in love with her.” He said glancing at Ivy who was watching this all go down. “I knew this was going to work on you too.” He said standing up again. “It’s going to take time to kill you because you’re a dark dweller. So, you’ll get to watch the show, each one of the dark dwellers that come here, they’ll fight for a spot next to me just to get to taste her.”

“You bastard, you don’t think they will kill you and take her for themselves?” Quinn mused.

“They can try, but if they kill me, she’ll die. You see, she is magically protected, and they all know this, so they have to play nice.” He smiled. “As they arrive we will watch.” He said pacing back and forth.

Ivy watched Quinn; he turned on his side and their eyes met. He was unable to say anything; she was too weak to say anything. It didn’t matter; at least they were close enough to be together when they died.

Closing her eyes, she wanted to remember her parents, she wanted to remember her past before she died.

“Ivy, Ivy come down here please!” her mother called from the stairs.

Ivy rolled her eyes when her mother calls her from the stairs, it’s usually because she is in trouble, or they have to go somewhere important.

“What?” she said walking down the stairs.

“Your father and I have somewhere to be tonight, do not open the door for anyone you understand me. I left you dinner in the oven.”

“Yeah, I know.” She said rolling her eyes.

“I mean it, Ivy, there are dangerous people out there, especially for you. Don’t trust anyone.” She said touching her face. “Promise me.”

“I promise you,” Ivy said rolling her eyes.

She kissed Ivy on the cheek.

Ivy watched as they drove away, she wasn’t sure what her mother was going on about, but Ivy never opened the door to anyone. She didn’t have friends and she didn’t care about anyone either.

Wanting to go and walk around the neighborhood she didn’t care what her parents warned her, she grabbed her jacket and left the house without care. Walking around the streets, she knew she was crazy for doing this, but she knew her parents were overly protective.

“Ivy.” Someone called.

She didn’t know the voice, but without caring, she reacted by turning towards the voice.

“Thank you for confirming who you were.” He said before disappearing before her eyes.

Ivy opened her eyes; the pain all over her body reminded her that she was still alive, and still very weak. She wanted to crawl to Quinn, but Elder John and Samuel watched her curiously.

“What’s the matter, Ivy, what happened to show me what you’re made of?” Elder John taunted.

“Leave her be!” Quinn growled, getting to his feet. The poison was getting to him, but he had to show John he wasn’t weak.

“Stay down dog!” John growled kicking him in the face. “The more you fight the poison the longer it takes to kill you. You might as well just lay there and let it work its magic.”

Ivy tried getting to her feet, but she was too weak. She was able to get to her knees.

“Come on Ivy I know you have more strength than that.” John laughed. “Even if you were able to get up, there was no way you would be able to get out of the magic shield I have you placed.”

“I would be able to get out of his, remember I am a white dweller.”

“That is my exact point.” He said rolling his eyes. “The only way you would get out of there is if I die, and the only way that would happen is if you white dwellers were to kill me.” He laughed.

“They said they are coming, and they don’t like you, dark dwellers.” She said looking at him. “I can feel them, they are getting close.”

“Well, they better not keep me waiting, by the look of things you don’t have very much longer.” He said walking closer to her. “I am sure you have maybe an hour left. The rest of my dwellers are going to be here before they get here and we’re all going to feed on you.” He mused.

“I don’t think that is going to happen,” Ivy said getting dizzy all over again, she put her head down and closed her eyes.

“Fight and keep fighting.” She heard in her head.

“I, I am trying.” She said spitting out blood. “They are going to win; I don’t know how much more fight I have.”

“Who are you talking to now?” Elder John laughed. “I know she is going to go crazy before they all get here.”

“No,” Ivy said looking up at him. “I am communicating with those that are coming to take you down, you and all your minions.” She said shaking her head. “They will come and take everyone and destroy what you think you are building here.”

“I’d like to see them come to Ivy, so far it’s just us here.” He said pacing. “I don’t think they are coming; I think they are filling your head with lies. Do you remember that time when I met you when you were out by yourself? Your parents told you not to go out, but you didn’t listen to them. You could have listened, and we would have moved on to the next city. Had you listened, they would have protected you, and you would never be in this situation. You see, you were protected. You and your family would have never been found out. We would have left you alone. But no, no Ivy you wanted to go and be yourself someone that didn’t want to listen to her parents and stay inside while they went to their dweller meeting.” He smiled.

“That was you?” Ivy said laying back down.

“Yes that was me that night, you gave yourself away that night, and we were out looking for you. I made myself known to you; your essence is what gave you away. I was already down that street, but something told me to turn around and try again, and there you were coming out of your house. Talk about the perfect time.” He mused. “And there your future out the window.”
