Chapter 29
“Who is he?” Ivy whispered.
“One of the Council members on our side, so they might already know.”
“Yes, they do know,” he said glancing back. “They also know what you are planning or planned to do,” he said as they continued to walk.
“Where are we going?” Drake asked.
“To meet the Council,” he said stopping at a black limo. “We’ve known about you since you were born Ivy. Your parents thought it was fine for you to be protected and kept in the dark, and they also thought keeping us in the dark about you was safe. That was mainly the reason they were killed, had they come to us we would have been more prepared to protect you.”
“So, what is the plan for me now?” Ivy said looking at the limo. “Me get in there and you force me to what?”
“Do the other ritual and unlock your powers, you are unique,” he said. “Now please get in.”
“What if I don’t?” she said glancing at Drake, he was concerned with what would happen if she didn’t comply.
“You don’t want to know what will happen,” he said looking at Drake. “He knows what happens when Dwellers go against Council members.”
“Yeah, when are you going to let me see my father?” Drake demanded.
“Never he’s been judged and if you’re not careful you will end up next to him. Now tell your Dweller to get into the limo otherwise you will face her punishment until her ritual studies are over.”
“Please Ivy just do what he says I know you don’t want to do this, but we have to,” Drake said motioning for her to get into the limo.
“No,” she said shaking her head, she teleported away from them, she wasn’t sure where she could go but she was going to run as fast as she could. She knew leaving Drake there was a mistake, but he was a dark dweller, and she wasn’t. She was all about saving herself, she didn’t care about anyone else.
“Where are you going?” Drake appeared. “He’s going to find you.”
“I don’t care,” she said shaking her head. “I am going to run and keep running. I am not going to be forced to do whatever the hell you guys are,” she said wiping tears from her eyes. “You guys killed my parents because they didn’t want me to go through this, and I am sure as hell going to honor their wishes.”
“Ivy they are going to hunt you and when they catch you, it’s not going to be easy as you think to get away from them. I can only stall them for a little while,” Drake said, touching her face. “You are the first person I fell in love with, I will do what I can to make sure you are safe. Please take what money I have,” he said handing her a wad of cash and run. Change your appearance, and don’t come out at night. After the one and a half years ends, you will be called, fight the calling.”
“What are they going to do to you?” Ivy said with tears in her eyes.
“I’m going to die,” he said kissing her. “You better go, you cannot stay in one place for too long,” he said kissing her once more before leaving her to finish what she needed to do before she had to run.
She didn’t want Drake to die because of her, but she had to let things happen the way they would. She was scared for her future; she didn’t know if she would get away from them. When she was packed, she headed from her parent's house, it was raining hard. She wasn’t sure where she would head, but she figured the train station would be the best place for her at least for now. She remembered Drake told her that there were dwellers everywhere, so she would have to be careful and not trust anyone.
Closing her eyes, she went ahead and bought the ticket, and put the hood from her hoodie over her head, she was hoping that could help cover her some. She remembered Nick told her they could see both good and evil, she wasn’t sure if she had an aura, either way, she was putting herself in danger just being in front of all these people.
Once she was on the train and it started moving, she felt a little more at ease, she felt Drake being tortured she let out a scream, she felt the pain he felt. She cried when he let out one last one before the darkness hit her too.
Opening her eyes, she realized she wasn’t on the train anymore, she looked around her hands were bound, she was chained to the floor, but she was able to move around, Drake was chained to the wall, he was still conscious.
“Finally.” The dark dweller came into the cell. “I was beginning to wonder when you were going to wake up.”
“How did you find me?”
“You two are bound, he told me where to find you,” he said kneeling so he could look into her eyes. “He didn’t want to die, so he told me where you were heading, I sent the Dwellers to the train, they found you as the train started moving, and here we are.” He smiled.
“What are you going to do to me?” she said with tears forming in her eyes.
“Nothing now, we have to wait until the baby is born now,” he said looking down at her stomach.
“What, what are you talking about?” she asked sightly confused.
“Ah, you didn’t know,” he said cupping her chin. “You have a Dweller in your stomach, another one of you, special and growing.”
“You’re not going to get anywhere near our baby!” she growled trying to get away from him. “I will find a way out of here.”
“Not if I keep you here.” He half-smiled. “You see this room and these chains are binding, you cannot escape and if you are a good girl, I’ll let you get out of here, but if you try to leave, we’ll find you again.”
“I will ensure you cannot find my child!” she snapped.
“You will make the same mistake your parents made. They were selfish.” He laughed. “They loved you too much, and look they got themselves killed. You know if only they made that choice to give you to someone else, you would have been safe, and your powers would have been dormant.”
“I don’t care what my parents felt, I am not selfish, I don’t want this for my baby,” she growled. “Whatever you think I am, I am going to prove to you I am different, I am going to get away from you!”
“Well, we’ll see about that. You cannot leave here, and as your powers grow darker, you are going to be consumed to want to do what we want, and your choices are going to be out of your hands,” he said getting up, he walked over to Drake. “Wake up, she isn’t falling for our tricks.”
“Really?” Drake said opening his eyes. “I figured she would,” he said getting to his feet and removing his hands from the chains. “Sorry baby girl, but you’re stuck here until you figure out that your mine.”
“So, you tricked me!” Ivy growled.
“I had to, you needed to think I was on your side, we are dark dwellers, you are having my child, soon you are going to be my bride and you are going to be the darkest of the dark. You are special,” he said walking over to her. “I am going to make you see,” he said touching her face.
“Don’t touch me!” she growled. “I will make you pay for tricking me.”
“I am looking forward to it, besides I have lots of time left with you, we have plenty of time to play,” he said walking out with the man leaving her there.
Ivy looked down at the chains, she tried to pull her hand free from one, but it seemed like they were tightening on it. Standing up she was able to go to the window and look out, she wasn’t sure where she was. She was still in the city where they lived, but she wasn’t entirely sure where.
“Here.” someone said Ivy didn’t turn to the voice. “You need to eat.”
“Leave,” she said not facing the voice.
“Please talk to me, Ivy,” Drake begged.
“Go away,” she said still looking out the window.
“Look I am bound to them, I had no choice in the matter,” Drake said closing the gap between them. “I know you aren’t going to care one way or another, but you are pregnant, and when they told me I had to tell them.”
“You didn’t have to tell them shit Drake,” she said turning to face him. “You could have lied to them; told them I went to Canada or somewhere else. You could have died for all I fucking care,” she said wanting to throw her hands in the air, but the chains were heavy. “But now I am stuck here as a prisoner.”
“We are both here, they are not allowing me to leave either,” Drake said pushing his hair away from his face.
“At least you don’t have chains binding your hands to a room,” she said turning away from him. “You are not bound here. I’m sure you can leave if you want.”
“You need to eat Ivy,” he said touching her arm. “They will force you to eat if you don’t.”
“I’d like to see them try,” she said moving away from his touch.
