Chapter 117 Stunned
Chapter 117 Stunned
The glass door shook behind him as he slammed it closed. He snarled, sweeping his gaze over fucking Eva and Olivia perched at his bag, his blanket from home stuffed in a trash can, glass and seasonings scattered all over the floor. One of the jars had left a smear of oil across his floors and on the walls.
He turned and stopped in the doorway of the kitchen, listening to Amber’s voice from down the hallway.
“Amber!” He growled, the sound of her name cracking like thunder in his own ears. Red pushed in on the edges. “Get out here. Now!”
Eva flinched, but Dorian didn't give a damn. His shoulders heaved. Fury built in his chest like another living thing wanting to get out. The fear, the shock had burned away.
Lydia worked fucking hard to keep his place clean. Amber sauntered from down the hallway, letting the robe slip from her shoulder. It was Lydia's, the one he'd bought for her as a cover-up because it was artsy and pretty. He hadn’t even gotten a chance to give it to her, and now he'd have to fucking burn it and get her a new one, a different, better pattern.
"How fucking dare you—"
"You can't talk to me like—"
He stepped forward and hissed at the sharp prick of pain, dropping his gaze to the floor, a mess of colored glass at his feet.
His hands shook, every muscle in his body screaming. She was fucking lucky he couldn’t chance fucking up his feet.
"You fucking bitch."
"Dorian!" Eva cried. "You—"
"Shut the fuck up, Eva! No one asked you for your bullshit, and that goes triple for you, Olivia." He snarled. "I’m not going to say it again, get the fuck out of my house!"
"Make me," Amber said, smiling. "You put your hands on me, and you know what will happen."
He did know, but right now he didn't care. That fury he swore he'd keep under wraps, that he'd control because his mother had raised him better than that, because he wasn't Vincent's son, or Dorian I's grandson, boiled through his veins. Lydia's face flashed through his mind, and it turned bitter and seething. He panted, chest heaving as the rage continued to swell.
He couldn't have Lydia.
Now that Amber was back, everything would get more dangerous. He couldn’t risk her safety. He couldn't ask her to explore this thing between them when it could get her killed or worse.
Amber’s family was slimy, and Amber herself was a snake. He promised that she was safe with him, but he couldn’t guarantee her safety when he couldn’t even guarantee his fucking own!
After everything he suspected had happened to her and everything he knew had, she deserved a man she would be safe with, who could cradle her close and protect her heart. A good man. A better man.
And the only thing he could offer her was… to keep her away from this because it would get ugly from the moment he got Amber out of his villa.
He stared down at the glass on the ground, eyes burning. He should walk away. He wasn't Vincent.
His mother—the man he wanted to be would back away. Wait outside and let Animkii send the security. He should focus on getting the recording to the administration.
He could do this. He could get the bill together for her family for all the damage.
But he wasn’t going to let the chance to deal damage slip through his hands.
"You're not my only option," Dorian said, smiling slowly. "I've got a more respectable option. Good family. Intelligent. Respectable."
She laughed. "I've heard about that chink. She's never going to be able to satisfy you."
"You couldn't get my dick hard even if you choked on it."
"Want to make a bet?" Amber asked, tossing her hair. "Because the chink isn't going to travel. I'm going to be at every game. I'll eat dinner with your parents." She gestured to Eva and Olivia. "The WAGs won't let her take my spot. You'd be better off playing nice." She smiled. "How about it, Dorian? I'll throw in a few free-use coupons for the trouble."
Dorian grimaced. "That's fucking gross, and that robe isn’t for you. Leave it when you get out. And be prepared for the bill. My maid deserved extra compensation for this shit."
“That bitch?” Amber thrust her hand toward the hallway. “She deserves to be deported. She doesn’t even speak English!”
Dorian glared at her and let his gaze drift toward the hallway. Lydia must have gotten here.
“What did you do to her?” He rounded the mess, walking through a pile of turmeric and glaring at Amber. It must have been on his face that he wasn’t fucking around because she stumbled back.
“She’s—”
“Seu Knox? Tudo jóia?”
Dorian’s stomach flipped. “Sim…Mais ou mal.”
That was Lydia’s voice, but how…
“Tô destruída.”
His stomach growled in response. Shit. So was he. He laughed, the anger retreating slowly at the sound of her voice through the door.
“Que é isso?”
“A problem.” Dorian smiled. Amazed, he told her, “Your accent is good.”
“Me perdoa, mas não entendi.”
Dorian laughed. “The bathroom is to the left.”
She laughed. “Valeu!”
Shaking his head, he turned to Amber. He let his gaze sweep over the wreckage in his living room. He wondered how he was going to tell his mother that the gift the family had given him was broken, but that was later. Amber scoffed, her heels crunching across the glass as she headed back to the kitchen, grinding the dust into the stone. Fucking bitch.
"This is why you should let the Resort handle things. That maid isn’t even in uniform, and she was rude."
"You and your unwanted opinion need to get out of my house, and again, leave the robe."
She smirked, slipping the robe from her shoulders and letting it land in the glass. “Still going to give it to that chink?”
Dorian’s lips twitched. “I’m going to burn it and buy her a better one.”
She narrowed her eyes at him, placing a hand on her hip. “You’re starting to piss me off.”
“Go cry to Vincent about it.” Dorian glanced over at Olivia and Eva. "You two have a lot of nerve to still be here.”
A knock sounded on the door. Dorian rounded the mess to answer the door, revealing two of Animkii's bodyguards and Animkii in the doorway.
"Just in time.”
Animkii chuckled. "Glad to have stopped you from doing something you’d regret.” He lifted his gaze, dark eyes cold and vicious as they landed on Amber.
She flinched, shuffling back toward the kitchen.
"Ms. Reynolds, I believe you have something you shouldn't. You will hand it over before you leave.” He swept his gaze over her. "You have five minutes to hand it over and leave, or you will have more than your father to worry about."
She pivoted and hurried upstairs. Dorian’s skin crawled. He was going to have to shop and deep clean, salt and sage his whole fucking house… then move.
