A Visit To The Cemetery

It's been 30 minutes after the whole breakfast saga, Cherry had left to have breakfast with a friend of hers, Mrs. King had sought peace with Kristen and Annabel had arranged the bouquets for the trip to the cemetery and Ferb was waiting for his boss and daughter to come out. Stephen King had not stepped out of his room since.

Annabel giggled and touched the herms of Kristen's black gown. She really looked big in it. The light touch makeup Annie did on her face brought the glow she seemed to have lost.

"May I say something?" Annie chirped in and Kristen nodded in reply.

"Pregnancy looks so good on you, Sir Lucian is really lucky to have you."

At the mention of Lucian's name, Kristen stiffened for a while then relaxed her shoulders and turned to face Annie, backing her dressing mirror.

"I was here before my accident, right?"

"Yes, you were. Any problem?"

Kristen shook her head, "I was wondering if I mentioned my relationship, I mean the man I was in a relationship with."

"You never did, even to me. All I know is your mom wanted you to get married and you assured her that there was a man and I believe that man is Lucian." Annie responded to the best of her knowledge.

Kristen sighed and looked away, "I don't know why I feel uneasy with him. I feel he is not part of my missing memories."

Annie understood Kristen's anxiety and she walked round to face Kristen, "I don't know about that, perhaps, it's because the memories of him are missing that's why you feel this way. He really loves you, I can tell from the way he took care of you during your stay at the hospital and even here."

Of course, Annie won't understand. Everyone keeps talking about how good he is, why can't anyone see him for who he is truly? I am tired of trying to explain. I will just wait and see how things play out. I hope I am not making a very big mistake." She said in her mind and asked Annie to get her handbag from the bed.

Annie obliged happily and reached for the bag and handed it to Kristen, "say hi to your father for me."

Kristen chuckled," That's funny, you know? How will I do that? Maybe when I reach his grave, I will say 'father, someone is saying hello'..."

"I am glad I can make you smile, the look on your face a while ago was so horrifying and I am afraid that you are thinking too much. Don't forget you are pregnant, if you are sad, your baby will be sad too."

"Annabel, thank you so much. Now walked me to the car"

Both exited the room chatting happily, someone seeing them will think they are long best friends. It will never occur to them that it's a boss and a servant.

They made it to the entrance of the house and were about to walk out of the exit door when Kristen collided with something, let's say, someone. Annie wasn't watching because she was focused on getting Kristen out of the door while Kristen had her eyes glued to her phone.

The impact of the collision was much and Kristen staggered backwards.

She steadied her steps and looked up to see a man in a delivery vase.

"I am sorry, please."

She apologized but the delivery guy moped at her, lost. Annie cleared her throat and he returned to his senses.

"I am sorry, I am from Frazy Bridal home, your wedding dress."

He chanted happily and handed her the package after Kristen signed. Of course, it's her wedding dress. She had chosen to order it from across their street and it had been delivered so fast which means she was indeed getting married. Her heart skipped several beats, she exhaled and then inhaled deeply.

"Thank you but do I know you?"

The guy smiled and adjusted his Faz cap. He said nothing but handed her a personal card," If you feel you have met me before, meet up let's chat, you will be surprised at what you will find."

He smiled and left, leaving Kristen with her mouth hanging open. He never answered her question.

She threw the card into her bag without a glance and handed the parcel to Annie, "put this in my room"

Annie left and Kristen walked towards the car. She settled in and waited for Mrs. King to join her.

A few minutes later, Maria King arrived wearing the same outfit as her daughter with black heels and joined her daughter in the back seat. Ferb started the engine and drove the car off the residence immediately.

The drive to the cemetery was just for thirty minutes, and soon both mother and daughter stepped out of the car, each person with a bouquet of roses.

After passing several graves, they came to stop at one engraved with the inscription "PETER CHASE, FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS" There was no date of birth likewise, date of death.

They stood in front of the gravestone together but did not say anything as tears filled their eyes. They did not know how long had passed, nor were they able to find any words to describe what they were feeling. After some moments, their silence was broken by Kristen who spoke, "Hi, dad. It's been seventeen years and guess what, I am 22 already, pregnant, and soon to wed. And you know what, you are missing all of these because you laid in this cold place"

She paused and wiped away her tears, "you promised to love me and be there for me yet you left me and I had to pay for the consequences of your absence, another man dealt with your daughter, do you know?" She sniffed and looked away, Maria King stood and watched her daughter, she just thought of letting her express how she felt.

Kristen had only visited her dad's grave only five times and each time she did, she never said a word. So it was a relief to Mrs. King to finally see her daughter talking to her father.

"May you get the peace that you deserve," she prayed in her mind and continued to watch her.

"Every moment of my life I spent without you, I asked why you had to leave me. Mom wasn't there for me either. She chose her husband over me, and that really made me lonely. It made me wish you never left and that you will somehow come back yet I grew up to the reality that you were gone for good forever. I'm not angry, I'm just sad, sad that my life was never like you planned, sad that mom never fulfilled any of your wishes, sad that I was ripped off my innocence by a man who was supposed to act as a dad and the saddest part of it, mom watched it all happened and she did nothing."

It was heartbreaking for Maria King to watch her daughter open her heart out, the least she could do was hold her shoulders even though it seems like she was doing the wrong thing. Her heart was breaking watching her daughter utter those sad words.
