~Ch. 24~ Fulfilling A Prophecy

Surrounded by strangers with spears in their faces, they don’t let go of each other. The strangers are speaking in a dead language. Sterling eyes meet Olivia’s.

He speaks through their mind link, “I understand them!

Olivia replies, “Me too! They mean us no harm!”

He agrees, “They think we do!”

Olivia raises her hand. “What are you doing?” Sterling asks.

Olivia nods to them, “Asking for permission to speak?”

He laughs at her, “What are we in high school?”

She shakes her head, “It’s more of an elementary thing but I’m trying to be respectful.”

The group starts to laugh. The biggest one says, “You may speak!”

Olivia points to the top of the mountain, “We were trying to make it to the top to break a curse!”

Sterling interjects, “That was a failure!”

She nods and adds, “Now we’ve mated and just want to go home.”

The leader gasps and speaks to the crowd, “They are the ones!”

Everyone starts to speak at once. The leader announces, “The prophecy has been fulfilled!”

He bows down and the rest do the same. At the same time they chant, “The Alpha, and the Luna, leaders of our tribe!”

Sterling and Olivia share glances. “The moon Goddess said we would rule and protect the world!” Olivia mind links to him.

The leader rushes to their side, “We are two of three of the last of the mountain warrior tribes. The other two consider us useless and rogue, please help us!”

Sterling is confused, “How could we help you?”

The leader pulls a young woman forth, “She needs her soulmate or we will die!”

Olivia repeats, “Soulmate?”

He nods, “We must find our soulmates or we can’t survive.”

Others chant, “We all need our soulmates but they belong to the other tribes!”

The leader uses an example, “Our soulmate is like our mate. Without them it’s impossible.”

The girl cries out, “He refuses to marry me because I am weak!”

Sterling rubs his scalp with his fingers, “What do you expect us to do, train you?”

Hope fills the girls eyes, “If you train me then I can challenge him and when he sees how strong I am he would marry me!”

The leader speaks with no hope in his tone, “He is engaged to marry Viva in one week! You’d have to challenge her before the wedding and win!”

The girls face falls flat, “Vic’s is the strongest female warrior on the whole mountain!”

Olivia pulls the girl in for a hug, “I will train you!”

Sterling pulls her away, “You can’t! You can’t fight!”

Olivia glares at him, “Trust me my love, what I can’t teach you can!”

The tribe all begged him. He slumps his shoulders in defeat, “Fine, but we must get started now!”

“We will take you to the village now!” The leader wraps his arm around Sterlings and they walk together.

“My daughter is very weak. She was born with a problem!”

Sterling is hesitant to ask, “What problem?”The leader explains her bone deficiency issue.

Sterling mind links Olivia, “She has a bone deficiency!”

Olivia laughs, “At least we are medium wolves and can fix it!”

Sterling is shocked, “You really think we can fix it?”

Olivia is certain, “I believe so but we will need to do some communicating with our inner mediums.”

The girl interrupts their mind link, “I… I’m sorry to ask but what’s so funny?”

Olivia smiles, “My mate and I speak through mind link and he has such little faith in me!”

The girl is confused, “Why?”

Olivia studies the girl for a moment, “What is your name?”

The face palms herself in the forehead, “I forgot!”

Confusion fills her, “You forgot your name?”

The girl links one arm with Olivia’s, “No, I forgot to introduce myself!”

They both laugh and Olivia asks again, “What’s your name?”

The girl giggles, “Faith!”

Olivia smiles, “Hello, Faith. I’m Olivia!”

“It’s an honor to meet you Olivia!” She responds.

“So you’re weak because of a muscle deficiency?” She asks the girl.

Faith shakes her head, “No, that’s curable! Mines a bone deficiency.” She lowers her head and barely whispers, “It has made me a laughing stock…”

Olivia whispers back, “People laugh at you?”

Faith shakes her head, “They mock, bully, and…” she kicks a rock with her foot and her shoulders slump, “Deny me.”

Olivia stops her and lifts her chin, “I feel it in my soul that I can help you but…”

Faith repeats, “But?”

Olivia continues without breaking eye contact,”I know in my gut that I can help but it will hurt!”

Faith giggles it off, “It can’t hurt more than what I’ve already been going through!”

Olivia keeps to herself but she knows that’s not true. Something in her is telling her what to do. The transformation didn’t just change her appearance but had opened her mind.

They get to a small village in Sterling rejoining Olivia's side. Whispering to her, “They need more than just to learn how to fight…”

Olivia looks around and finishes his sentence, “They need to adapt and learn how to live on their own.”

Sterling is befuddled by how far back that this village is, “Where to start?”

Olivia starts to give him a list, “We should have a village meeting and separate them. See who are the hunters in the fishers? Who does the crops and who is the Warriors?”

Sterling pulls heart in for a big hug, “I always pray to the moon goddess that I would have a beautiful and brilliant wife..”

A Smile creeps across her face and he gets all embarrassed, “Mate I mean mate!”

She keeps her smile on her face, but her eyes frown slightly, “One I expect to be your wife as well!”

Sterling smirks, “I’d love that as well!”

Faith and her father approached them, “Do you need to rest?” Her father asked.

“No, we need to have a village meeting so that we can see what we need to fix and work on to make you a stronger community.” Sterling admits.

The leader is confused, “What do you mean?”

Sterling pulls him into his arms and starts to explain to him, “We want to make sure that no matter what you’re sustainable on your own!”

The Leader gets all teary-eyed and pulls Sterling into a hug, “Do you think it’s possible?”

Sterling nods, “It may take some work but anything is possible if your community is willing to work together.”

The leader runs off to gather everyone. Faith grabs Sterling and Olivia and pulls them into a tent. She starts to brush their hair and clean them up.
