~Ch. 20~ Ophelia
Yeah, I’ll just switch points to the middle witch, “What have you done?”
The middle witch shakes her head, “I’m not doing anything!”
The youngest sides with the oldest, “It was your brilliant idea for her to raise the dead!”
The middle child defensive, “None of us thought she could do it!”
The middle youngest share knowing glances. Argument is cut short as something grabs the middle witch by her foot. She yelps for help but the other two take off running..
“Don’t leave me!” She screams at them.
It’s too late because they’re already long gone. Her eyes are drowned back to the tugging at her feet. A skeleton is using her to get itself up from under the ground.
“I’m so sorry, please help me!” she begs, Olivia.
Sterling places his hand on Olivia’s shoulder. Catching her attention, “The other two were the evil ones. They left her here to die!”
Olivia’s eyes glance over at the medium. There’s a skeleton now on top of her, threatening her life. She glances back at Sterling and he gives her a knot and his eyes look like they’re pleading.
She nods back and shouts, “She’s not the enemy, the enemy has gone.”
The skeleton's bone, structured face shoots a glance in Olivia‘s direction. Olivia’s voice continues to boom across the broken ground and into the skeleton's ear, “Thank you friend!”
The skeleton nods. Slowly climbing off of the middle witch. The middle witch is making frightening noises. Checking her heart and pulse to make sure that she is still alive.
She uses her power to fly across the broken ground. She rushes into Olivia’s arms. “You saved me!”
Olivia pats her back, “My mate wanted me to.”
The witch turns to Sterling in confusion, “But why?”
Sterling wrapped his arms around Olivia, “I can see you're not evil.”
The witch has been trying so hard to be evil starts to cry, “I know!”
Olivia filled with so many questions, “If you’re not evil then why? Why try to be evil? Why not stand up to your sister? Why…”
The middle witch cuts her off, “Evil runs in the family! I am the first one to not be evil and I’m a disgrace!”
Olivia pulls her back into her arms, “Your family is crazy and you do not need to stay!”
The witch’s breath is heavy, and tears are pouring down her face, “I can’t go now! They’re gonna ask how I survived, they're gonna want answers, they're gonna know that you let me go and I will be punished!”
“You have options!” Olivia informs her.
“What options are those?” Sterling ask her with curiosity.
Olivia Answers his question, but she directs it at the witch, “Go West…”
She starts to say, but the witch repeats her question and curiosity, “West?”
Sterling picks up what she’s laying down, “You're going to send her to your grandma?”
Olivia nods and continues to tell the witch, “Go West. There will be booby traps, but just let them know that Olivia sent you!”
The witch repeats her name, “Olivia!” She pulls Olivia in for another hug, “A beautiful name for a beautiful soul!”
Olivia giggles, “What’s your name?”
The witch pulls away and looks her in the eyes, “My name is, Ophelia.”
Olivia’s never heard that name before, and she repeats it, “Ophelia?”
Ophelia’s eyes are filled with sadness. Sterling whispers to Olivia, “It’s a name for tragedy.”
Ophelia nods, “A tragic name for a sorrowful child!”
Olivia is still confused, “Sorrowful?”
“Ophelia nods, “An unwanted child!” The tears start to flow down her eyes again.
Olivia places a comforting hand on her shoulder, “You’re not unwanted anymore! Go to my grandmother and she will take care of you!”
Sterling’s voice is filled with worry, “We must continue our journey!”
The girl's eyes follow his gaze. “Oh, no!” Ophelia replies. “It’s almost dark, I can’t be out here alone in the dark!”
“Run along!” Olivia encourages if she gives her one last hug.
She turns to the skeleton, “Get her to my grandmother safe and then go back home, my friend!”
The skeleton nods and rushes off with Ophelia.
“Sending a skeleton to protect a witch?” Sterling laughs. Olivia turns to him and watches as he continues to joke, “That won’t raise any suspicions!”
Olivia playfully slaps him, “We don’t have time for jokes!”
Reality returns to Sterling and he no nods, “If we have, we should be able to make it there in time!”
He gets serious for a moment, “We will be cutting it close, but I think we can do it!”
Olivia places her hand on his cheek, “I trust you, Sterling and I think that as long as we work together, we can make it!”
She plays a gentle kiss on his cheek and whispers,”I will do everything in my power to keep you from the horrible fate!”
He Brushes his hands through her hair and whispers back, “I will do everything in my power to keep you alive!”
Their lips connect and for a moment they forget about all of their troubles. Electricity flows through their bodies. They are lost in the moment until darkness starts to fall upon them.
“The sun?” Olivia’s voice is filled with anxiety.
“We are officially on the last night.” there’s a hint of sadness and worry in his voice.
“It’ll be okay!” She tries to reassure him. “We have one more day!” She encourages.
“What about sleep…” he starts to ask, but she cuts him off, “We will sleep after the ritual is complete!” She pulled him by his hand and they start to run up the mountain.
“We are making really good timing!” Sterling says shockingly.
“I told you everything will be okay!” She responds in an upbeat tone.
They are smiling at each other when big clumping sounds start to form the side of them. Sterling pulls her behind him protectively. Rocks start to fall around them.
“Few, they missed us!” Olivia is relieved and excited.
Sterling doesn’t respond as she continues, “I was so scared. I thought it was gonna crush us!”
“Sterling?” She asks when she realizes that he’s not not responding.
Her eyes follow his gaze and she gasps, “Ugh, are you serious?”
Sterling, thanks for a moment and then speaks in his alpha voice, “I’m going to transform and you’re going to come on my back and I’m going to slowly walk up these rocks!”
“Why in Wolf form?” She asked with curiosity.
“My wolf is more coordinated than neither of us could ever be,” he suggests.
“Wolf form it is!” She agrees with a slight hint of pride in her voice at his brilliant brain.
He transforms into his will form and she claims on his back.
