Chapter 24 The Freeman Mansion

Chapter 24 The Freeman Mansion
It seemed Xavier really didn't want to discuss it. I decided not to ask further, afraid of angering him, as he was clearly a short-tempered person.

"You didn't ask who she was?" Xavier asked. Just when I'd decided not to pry into his personal affairs, Xavier asked me instead. He really was a strange man.

"I don't need to know, do I? I don't want to pry into your personal affairs!"

"I see, but if you asked, I would have answered!"

"Really?"

"Yes."

"Why?"

"You're my girlfriend, right? So we should be open with each other."

"Do you seriously consider me your girlfriend?" I asked, a little incredulous.

"Even though our relationship is based on mutual use, we're still officially a couple."

"I don't understand."

"Besides being a daydreamer, you're also stupid, aren't you? In class, you're always daydreaming like an idiot, so much so that none of the lessons register. Oh damn, you're so embarrassing!"

"Okay, I'm stupid and not smart. But you don't have to get so hysterical!"

"So you don't want to know who she is?"

"No! I don't care!"

"Oh, is that so? Okay."

"Who is she?"

"Tch, you're so fickle, aren't you? Do you want to know or not?"

"If you want to tell me, then tell me!" I said, annoyed. He was really testing my patience. Xavier suddenly stopped the car.

"Then, kiss me first!" He demanded, staring into my eyes.

"W-what did you say?"

"Why are you so nervous? We've kissed so many times before?"

"B-but why are you asking so suddenly? I-" As if not wanting to wait for me to finish, Xavier kissed me immediately.

Every time he kissed me like this, my heart beat so fast. The more I touched something about him, the more I fell in love with him. Why was he so enchanting?

Xavier broke the kiss when our mouths were already very wet. He looked into my eyes, and his gaze made me fall so deeply in love.

"So you're really in love with me, aren't you? Control your heart, Layla! If you keep this up, you won't be able to let me go!" He whispered right in my ear. After saying something that confused me, Xavier got back in the car.

I glanced in the rearview mirror and realized the woman was still following us. Did she know Xavier and I were kissing?

"Who's that woman? You haven't told me yet."

"She's my ex-girlfriend I told you about."

"Your ex-girlfriend? So she's the woman you love?"

"Yes, she's very beautiful, isn't she? If you saw her in person, she would look even more beautiful."

"Even from afar, she looks so beautiful. She's tall and has a great figure. You look very good with her," I said with a strange feeling I couldn't quite understand.

Xavier paused for a moment and didn't immediately respond to my words. My mood soured. I didn't want to fall in love with him like this. I'd only known him for two weeks. I didn't know what kind of man he was or what his true nature was like. I had no idea. But why had I fallen so deeply for him?

"We're here!" He said, and before I knew it, Xavier's car had already pulled into a large mansion complex.

I looked out the window, my eyes awed. This house wasn't just large, but also incredibly beautiful, completely different from my previous expectations of an old, neglected house.

"Is this your family home?"

"Yes."

"It's very large, and the grounds are very spacious. It takes a few minutes to walk from the gate to the front door?"

"About 20 minutes if you run."

"Wow...amazing! I've never been in a house this big before. So you're really rich, Xavier! No wonder you called my house a slum."

"Your mood changes quickly, huh?"

"What?"

"Forget it! Come on" He said as he opened the car door and got out.

Xavier approached the woman's car and helped her open it. The bastard ignored me. I took my suitcase and bag out of the trunk of his car while he talked to the woman.

"They look so good together," I thought as I saw them standing facing each other. Xavier didn't have to bend down to talk to her, unlike me, who was much shorter than him.

I struggled to lift my suitcase, and as I did so, the zipper came open, sending my clothes flying out. Seeing my predicament, Xavier immediately approached me.

"Why are you using such a cheap suitcase?"

"I don't have the money to buy a nice one," I said in a sharp tone.

"I'll buy you a nice one later!"

"No need! You don't need to help me, I can do it myself. Besides, isn't it inappropriate for you to ignore your ex-girlfriend?" I said, glancing at the woman. I noticed the woman continuing to eye me with a scornful gaze.

"You're my current girlfriend, she's just an ex. Just let her wait!"

I was starting to think that Xavier had chosen me as his girlfriend to make his ex jealous. But why me? His ex and I were like heaven and earth. No matter how you compared us, I was nothing.

"Xavi...!" The woman called out to him. Damn, not only was her face beautiful, but her voice was also beautiful.

"What's wrong?"

"Don't ignore me!" She said, clearly annoyed.

"I've been telling you for one week that I'll be busy, I have to take Layla to my parents' house! You're the one who insisted on coming here!"

"It's because I miss you and I want to see you!"
