Chapter 118
Anna’s POV:
Clalie suddenly went quiet. I heard hurried footsteps and the soft role of fabric through the phone. My breath caught in my throat as I pressed the device closer to my eat
“Blakey?” Her voice carried a hint of panic..
The phone seemed to be hastily hidden. The sound became nuffled, like it had been covered or shoved somewhere. Despite this, I could still make out their conversation, every word burning into my mind like neld.
Blake’s voice came through, hard and cold. “The doctor said they couldn’t find you. Where are you? What are you doing? The sharp edge in his tone was something I recognized concern wrapped in allmyance.
Claire’s voice noticeably trembled. Im… just making a phone call.”
“To whom?”
“To Anna…” Claire’s response was barely above a whisper, almost apologetic.
Blake’s voice instantly chilled. “What could you possibly have to talk about with her?”
The disdain in his voice was unmistakable, cutting through me like knife..
Claire quickly adopted a concerned tone that sounded rehearsed to my ears. “I was thinking Anna could help redirect some of the negative attention my way. My ballet fans would create a new wave of discussion.”
She continued with fake sincerity that made my jaw clench, “I donant Anna to be attacked by my… overly enthusiastic fans.”
I gripped my phone tighter, feeling a surge of absurdity wash over me.
A bitter smirk formed on my lips as I realized Claire was likely manipulating public opinion again.
The footsteps of both of them echoed at the same time. Blake let out a low grunt, I’ll handle this; you don’t need to get involved.”
My hand trembled as I held the phone, and finally, I couldn’t keep a grip on it, so I switched to speaker mode. My fingers frantically pressed the volume up button, trying to manage the whirlwind of emotions inside me–was it anger or panic?
“Blakey, I don’t mind taking some heat for you, but it seems like Anna has a real problem with Scarlett… Claire spoke in that fake, distressed tone of hers. I couldn’t help but scoff; here she was, playing the victim again and trying to pin everything on me
Blake responded directly, his voice completely devoid of warmth. “Anna won’t care about any of this.”
“That’s true, but I didn’t say anything about you and Scarlett. But, Blakey, do you really want to have kids with her? I heard Mom say Dad’s condition is getting worse…..
Blake. Have kids. With another woman
Through the fog of shock, I heard the call disconnect, leaving only the dial tone echoing.
My fingers gently traced the engraved letters of my father’s name on the cold stone surface. Unshed tears glistened in my eyes, but I refused to let them fall.
My palm trembled against my lower abdomen. Ever since I got back with Blake, I’d been taking birth control pills every time we

I gently traced my fingers over the gravestone, my lips quivering as whispered, “Dad, Mom, it seems like I’ve gotten myself into a

“I can’t keep fooling myself anymore,” I said, my voice gradually growing stronger with each word. “It’s time for a divorce.”
The sky had darkened considerably, and the first stars were beginning to appear. I’d lost track of time completely, trapped in my thoughts and memories..

An elderly cemetery caretaker approached, concern etched on her weathered face. The lantern she carried cast long shadows across the graves. She held out a cup of hot tea that steamed in the cool evening air.
“Miss You’ve been sitting here far too long,” she said, studying my pole face with motherly concern. “It’s getting late. Being alone in a cemetery isn’t safe. Are you okay?”
She kindly offered to call me a cab, her eyes showing genuine worry accepted the tea gratefully, the warmth from the cup seeping into my cold fingers.
My phone suddenly rang from inside my purse, its harsh tone shattering the cemetery’s quiet. I pulled it out to see Blake’s name Nashing across the screen. My heart lurched painfully in my chest.
“No need,” I told the caretaker calmly, though inside I felt anything but calm. “My husband is coming to get me.”
After the cemetery caretaker nodded and walked off, I quickly hit the end call button and rejected Blake’s call
As I stood to leave, a wave of dizziness hit me. The world around me darkened, and I felt myself tipping forward. The gravestones, trees, and night sky spun wildly,
Just as my vision blurred and consciousness slipped away, a strong am–familiar with the scent of mint aftershave–caught me before I hit the ground
