Chapter 117
Anna’s POV:
Tooked terrible. His normally perfect appearance was completely disheveled – his face pale as snow, his eyes dull and lifeless… Til bever seen him like this before.
With what little rationality I had left, I called a nurse over. I didn’t een check if she could support someone as tall and broad is Blake. I just couldn’t stay there any longer.
I hurried out of the hospital without looking back. The image of Blake reaching for Scarlett, the desperation in his mes – it wi much, I felt like I was suffocating
The flower petals shook wildly in the breeze as I stood in front of my father’s grave.

Id come here hoping to cry, to let out all the anger and hurt building inside me. But sitting here from sunrise to manset, I felt strangely empty. It was as if I’d lost the ability to cry.
How could I explain to my father the twisted relationship Blake and had developed? The man who had once been my a now felt like a stranger.
everything
The worst part was that I couldn’t even summon tears anymore just a dull, persistent sadness that I had to bear alone.
The twilight painted the skyline red when my phone rang. Claire’s name flashed on the screen.
“Anna, you’ve met Scarlett, right? Her voice was hushed and urgent.
In that moment, I understood what Claire had meant earlier by joining forces.” She was pathologically sensitive about any woman near Blake. Even if it was just a cleaning lady in his office. Claire would stare her down until she was sure the woman hadn’t looked
at Blake too long.
“Yes, I have,” I replied flatly, curious about what she would say next
“How can you be so calm about it? Don’t you know who she is?!” Claire sounded genuinely surprised by my reaction.
I frowned. Who was she? Should I even know? I overheard Scarlett and Blake together. Their relationship felt close and flirty, but there was something about it that just didn’t quite feel like lovers.
“Tell me, he should I react? What is she to Blake?” My heart was pounding wildly as I clenched my fists, like I was waiting for
verdict.
“She’s Blakey’s stray puppy who just got back from abroad,” Claire said. “Anna, when you and Blakey went on your honeymoon, he made a stopover in London and brought Scarlett back with him.
“What did you say… My voice was barely audible.
Our honeymoon had been my must treasured memory a meaningful ritual that made up for past disappointments. It had been the dividing line between the happiness and bitterness in our relationship. And now I learned it had all been a lie.
Blake had deceived me. Caroline had kept his secret. And Scarlett wasn’t a friends daughter as they claimed, but a “sponsored student, according to Claire.
Claire’s words
me like a punch to the gut. The pain exploded inside me, spreading and intensifying with each passing

New
I realized that girl was Scarlett, and Blake had deliberately downplayed their relationship.
“Compared to her, Lactually prefer you,” Claire said with contempt, Then, with a childlike smile in her voice: ‘Ante, Blakey has been with you for years without falling in love with you. He’s just playing around. You should get rid of all obstacles around him still hasn’t grown tired of you!”
1 pondered her words. Had I been blind? I’d once been so prouid when Blake confessed his feelings to me. Now it all seemed painfully ironic.

you talking about? We’re best friends! I’m talking about Scarlett! She definitely has bad intentions coming back
1 recalled how Blake’s concern for Scarlett had seemed excessive for a mere student.
I said,
“She’s just a sponsored student,, tegning nonchalance.
“He already gave her money! She should have stayed far away! Why come back?” Claire snapped. “Lets team up and drive her away You don’t want other women around Blakey either, right?”
I noticed Claire wasn’t treating me as an outsider anymore, seeming to forget her previous hostility. She now saw me as “the enemy” of her enemy.” A bold theory formed in my mind.
“Was Scarlett going abroad your idea?” I asked.
“Of course!” Claire said proudly. “I don’t like anyone clinging to my Blakey
“What do you plan to do?”
“You lure her to my hospital room, and I’ll handle the rest. I’ll make sure she goes right back where she came from! Claire’s voice was filled with malice.
I was shocked by her viciousness. How could a 22–year–old woman raised in a loving family be so twisted? Tbegan to wonder about Blake’s role in Claire’s tile and her pathological obsession with him.
Was Claire’s involvement with other classmates deliberate, designed to attract Blake’s attention? Had the Wright family noticed her unhealthy fixation? Did Blake know or silently allow it? This could plain why he’d grown cold toward me after our marriage.
