111. Leo

I laughed when I saw the gun in his hand but he didn't laugh along. I groaned and went to lean in the same position he was leaning against when I joined him here.

"I thought of the possibility of you doing this, but then I shoved it to the back of my mind. I told myself Omar wouldn't do that shit. But here you are, doing that shit."

"If you won't help me. I'll help myself. I know you won't kill me. If you wanted to, you'd have all these while. So that leaves me no choice. I have to kill you to save myself."

"You're in flames for killing the little girl, and you want to kill me too? You still enjoy playing with fire, don't you Omar?"

"..." He didn't say anything after me. He just held the gun tighter and licked his trembling lips.

"Alright, enough of this shit. Sixty seconds, you've got sixty seconds to kill me or I'm leaving. I want to be at the hospital when Mae wakes up." I told him and took off my suit jacket.

"If I don't pull the trigger in sixty seconds, will you kill me?" He swallowed.

"I might," I answered honestly and started to count down time in my mind as I watched him try to come to a decision. He should have thought about pulling out his gun.

"Just help me talk to the mayor, to let this sleep. I won't kill you." He told me and I just smiled.

"I don't plan on doing that, Omar. Twenty seconds left." I reminded him.

"I don't want to kill you."

"You should. You have the gun in your hand. It should be just as easy as it was for you to send Mae to come kill me."

He laughed, "Mae wasn't supposed to kill you."

"No?" I smiled. It couldn't hurt to make the moment more amusing than tensed up.

"I may make a lot of unchecked decisions but one of it wouldn't be sending an agent who has only sat behind a computer her entire time as an agent, to kill you. She was barely even trained."

"Five seconds, Omar." I reminded him again even if I had gotten hooked on what he was going on about.

"She wasn't meant to kill you. It was supposed to be the other way around. I wanted you to ki..." I kicked the gun out of his hands while he was still talking and slammed him face-first to the floor.

"Fuck!" He cursed at me while breathing out loud."Couldn't you let me finish?"

"I told you how much time you had to keep holding that gun up at me." I let him go and went to pick the gun up."You wanted me to kill her?"

"Yes." He got back on his feet."The plan was for you to kill her so I could have something on you."

I laughed, not believing what he was saying."I love that woman, and you knew it when you sent her. What made you think I'd kill her?"

"You don't mix business with pleasure, Leo, that's what. You've killed some 'friends' of yours after they went against you or tried to ruin you. It was supposed to be the same with her... but you didn't kill her."

"Is there why you ordered for her to be shot dead three weeks ago?" I asked and cocked the gun before returning the favor and pointing it back at him.

"..." He didn't answer. I stared at him briefly and decided to unload the gun. I threw the gun to the floor and left him standing there.

"Ask them to get the elevator to work again. I need to be somewhere." I told him when I got to the elevator door. He wasn't saying anything so I turned to know why and met him pointing another gun at me.

"You've got to be fucking kidding me." I almost rolled my eyes."Why the fuck are we doing this Omar? You know damn well that you're not going to pull that trigger, and I don't plan to kill you either so why the fuck are we doing..." I stopped talking when he took a shot. I ran my hand through my torso and felt the hole in my shirt. Fuck. He shot me.

I fell to the ground, my eyes popped wide with surprise. He fucking shot me. He really did it. I was on the floor when I heard the elevator ding. Of course, it would become active now. The door opened and I heard someone walk through it.

"O my g–" I heard someone gasp. Mae. What was she doing here?"Did you do this?" She asked Omar and I saw him about to shoot her again.

I tried to stand up but stumbled back to the ground and just then, I heard the gun go again. I suddenly started to lose my breath from the shock of all that was happening. Did he shoot Mae again? My heart was beating rapidly beyond my control and I was hyperventilating.

"Leo, are you okay?" I heard Mae call. She lifted my head and placed it on her thighs as she knelt on the floor.

He didn't shoot her. I took in a deep breath after hearing her voice."I'm fine." I managed to say to her.

"No, you're not. You're bleeding. Pete... he's bleeding." I heard her cry. Her voice started to fade away.

"Hold on, let me lift him..." Pete's voice was the last I heard before I passed out.

I opened my eyes to meet Mae sleeping on a twin sofa in the ward I was in. She was clutching tightly to a sofa pillow as she slept on.

The door to the ward opened and I saw Pete walk in. He passed when he saw that I was awake.

"Sir," he called excitedly in a whisper and rushed to my bed.

"What happened? With Omar? I don't remember much." I asked him.

He took in some air and exhaled before talking."I uhm, I shot him after he shot you. He was going to shoot Miss Yrote."

"Why was she there, she was supposed to be here, wasn't she? Why did she leave the hospital? Did something happen?"

"Uhm..." She scratched the back of his neck.

"What? Talk." I ordered him.

"Well, you see, she was going to surprise you when you got to the hospital to see her. She had told the doctors not to let you know that she was okay to be discharged so you could walk in and see her fine. But then, you didn't show up and she got worried..."

"And you found me." I completed the only part of his story I knew.

"Yes sir."

"And you thought it very wise to bring her with?"

"She insisted. I only agreed because I knew you wouldn't be happy if she told you about it."

A month later.

A different city.

"Did you see his face?" Mae laughed out loud and fell into Leo's arms after they left the elevator taking them to their suite. They had just won a game in the casino downstairs and were planning to call it a night.

"He couldn't believe you knew how to play," Leo laughed with her as they opened the door to their room.

"If they knew, they would have rather you played than me," Mae giggled and brought her lips to his. She bit on his lower lips and kissed him after. Leo was about to wound his arms around her when she stopped him.

"One minute," she told him before leaving him standing at the room's door. Leo watched her go into the bathroom.

Mae took off the fur jacket she had on and let it fall to the ground, then she proceeded to the extended mirror. She stared at herself in it for a while before reaching for the knife in her outfit.

The man who had been watching her saw her reach for the knife and decided to attack but Mae heard a gunshot before she could defend herself.

Leo walked in with a groan."I guess some people don't know how to take losing." Leo came to her and kissed her.

"It can't be only him, right? They surely must have more around." Mae said amidst their lip lock.

"We could check around the room for them," Leo whispered to her, "Or we could just go ahead with what he was going to do before their interruption."

"We should check," Mae said and saw him feign a frown. It made her laugh."Let me kill the next one." She kissed him on the cheek.
