Chapter 110: Leo
Who the hell looks this beautiful in a sick bed? I sat by Mae's hospital bed and watched her sleep on. The doctor she lost a lot of blood but she should wake soon; that was what I was waiting for.
My phone vibrated in my hands. I looked and saw that it was Pete calling so I left to answer it. I was expecting that call of his. He had told me that he found some gadgets and equipment being used by those FIA agents so he took them with him and was going to check through them.

Three weeks later.
I was driving to the hospital to check on Mae. She had woken up but hadn't fully recovered. The doctor in charge of her treatment said she would need some more time to be on her feet and active again.
"Omar," I called over the phone after picking up my ringing phone.
"You must have learned the full story behind the FIA agents being at that building that day." He sounded dull.
I hissed and wanted to end the call. I was in no mood to speak about that, at least not now that I was on my way to see Mae and not when I hadn't decided what way I wanted to pay him back for interfering in my business and hurting Mae. It could fuck up my mood just by thinking of the whole thing.
"Don't hang up on me," Omar said. The mother-fucker knew just what I was going to do.
"Why did you call?" I asked him because I knew he didn't just find out that I knew his orders involving Mae's attack.
"Come to me. Estil Tower, meet me at the rooftop. I'll be waiting."
"You know damn well I'm not going to come to you," I told him.
"If you don't come, I'll jump off the rooftop." He threatened and I just couldn't help but laugh heartily because there was no chance he was serious.
A solemn silence accompanied my laugh. He was serious. But he couldn't be. Omar loved his life more than anything.
"Good idea, Omar. Kill yourself before I get to decide what painful way I want to do it. At least, you'd make it less painful for yourself." I told him. What the hell did I care if he killed himself?
"I'm waiting." He said to me last and ended the call. I hissed again and drove on to see Mae.
One more turn and I would arrive at the city's hospital. I fixed my eyes on the road to avoid thinking of Omar's words and that worked for only a short while. I stopped the car abruptly and turned around.

Estil Tower.
"Good day, sir," One of the hotel staff greeted me as I made my way to the elevator.
Alone in the elevator, I checked my pockets and realized I was not with my gun, just my pocket knife. Fuck. For all I knew, Omar could be luring me into a trap and I was about to walk into it without letting Pete know, for security purposes.
The elevator stopped so I heaved a sigh and stepped out of it. Omar was waiting for me there. He was leaning against the elevated periphery of the rooftop.
I looked around the place and it was just him so I started towards him. He turned around when I got close enough for him to hear my quiet steps.
"Why am I here?" I asked him. He looked displaced, unusually. His hair was messy and he looked like he hadn't slept for two days at least.
"I..." He was about to speak but I felt someone else's presence behind me so I turned around and threw my knife in that direction.
The man fell to the floor immediately, my knife stabbing into him further as he fell on it.
"That was my..." Omar paused and I couldn't tell if he was pissed or not about who I just killed. He didn't seem to mind but I don't think he liked the sight either."My security." He finished his words with a loud sigh.
"You could have asked him to wait elsewhere." I shrugged.
"Mae is getting better, does this mean you're not going to kill me?" He turned back to look at the view like he was doing before I walked in.
"You can't be serious? Is this why you called me here?" I furrowed my brows as I questioned.
"Yes?" He turned back to face me."You came to my office some weeks ago and you told me that I'll die by you if she didn't recover. And now she is. She recovering fine. But I'm thinking..." He stopped and chortled to himself, then he swallowafterwardrds.
"I'm thinking of how you found out that the man who shot the child is one of mine and you probably know that the whole traffick sale was put up by me to get you there..."
I hissed.
"He... he wasn't meant to kill the girl," Omar said and ran his fingers through his hair.
I sighed and turned around to leave. I wasn't ready to have this conversation with him. I didn't want to remember the poor kid who had to die because of his stupidity. Pete had looked into the day Mae got shot and had discovered that the whole thing was orchestrated by Omar.
The man who shot the girl was an FIA agent and they had set it up to get me there so they could make up some real-time evidence.
"Leo..." Omar ran after me."Leo, listen to me. The agent who killed the girl, I don't know what got into him. I didn't give orders for that. I didn't plan for that to happen, I swear. I don't even know how to report the events of that day to those above me. They've been on my ass..."
"So you brought me here to tell me how innocent you are in all of this?" I stopped to ask him.
"No. I..." He scratched his head."I need your help. With my superiors, I know all you have to do is make a phone call and..."
"You had your people kill a little girl, Omar." I thought I should remind him.
"That was an accident."
"An accident? Where did you even get those poor kids from? And why did you involve them in all this? You put them in this without proper fucking security for their lives!"
"I know... That's why I need your help. I'm going to lose all I've spent my life working had to get if this case doesn't sleep."
I scoffed. I couldn't believe that was all he was worried about."Is that all you're worried about?" I had to ask him.
"Of course not. I'm also worried about my life. If you're not going to help me, at least kill me before you leave." He sighed after speaking.
I shook my head and decided to leave. Walking to the elevator door, I pressed the button to open it but it didn't open. It was then I noticed the light on the buttons were off.
With an inaudible curse, I went to the door leading to the stairs. I bent the door handle but it didn't open so I tried two more times. When it still didn't open, I cursed under my breath and wanted to ask Omar if he was the reason the exits were not functioning but I turned around to meet him holding up a gun at me.
