Chapter 26 who helped her

Chapter 26 who helped her
Oscar’s P.O.V. (Continued)

For a few seconds, I couldn’t breathe. Ms. Stone’s eyes were glued to me.
She knew….
But how?????
Did she see that footage?
“Our technical team is still trying to find the person who sent those footage to us and also at what time those footages are erased from the system.” She continued coldly, but her gaze didn’t leave me.
“Is the principal thinking about calling the police? I mean, this is serious.” Someone spoke in a worried voice.
“For now, no.” Ms. Stone answered and took a deep breath in the end.
“From now on, the school surveillance will be more alarming than ever. Those who think that they are untouchable need to lie low.” She spoke with finality; the command in her voice was unshaken.
No one in the class spoke a word, but I felt the burning gazes of my friends on me.
I didn’t look away. I just stared at Ms. Stone blankly.
“The second thing is about the math competition.” She spoke again calmly.
“Madelyn was representing our class in the school team, but now.” She paused, and her gaze moved.
My breath hitched, and I snapped my head in Galvin’s direction.
“As the only math student in our class, Galvin, you will represent that class. Go to the practice session after lunch.” She continued calmly and casually, but Galvin’s face turned ghostly white.
Damn you, Madelyn….
I gritted my teeth angrily.
“Okay, take your book out and open to page 67. Today, we are going to finish.” I didn’t listen to the rest of the words coming of her mouth.
Galvin was still in shock and hadn’t returned to his senses.
Galvin had trauma with math, but he was forced to study it because his grandfather was obsessed with it.
Now, he had to take part in that competition.
The worst of all the nightmares.
“It will be best for you if you concentrate on what I am teaching, Oscar.” I snapped out of my daze and lowered my head immediately.
Ms. Stone wasn’t from an influential family, nor did she hold any authority.
Yet the only teacher who can make all the students in school bow to her.
Except one….
And that one wasn’t me.
I took my pencil out of the pouch and started marking whatever she was saying absentmindedly.
What happened on Friday night in her apartment was still fresh.
She told me that she never feared me.
She cooked soup and noodles for me.
She knew about my sensitive stomach, and even though she was angry, she didn’t throw me out of her apartment until I finished the soup and the noodles.
“Snap out of it, Oscar. Ms. Stone is staring at you constantly.” Fred, who was sitting beside me, whispered to me in a hushed tone.
I blinked and looked at the page in front of me.
My eyes widened in shock when I saw what I had written there.
Fred was about to see in my book, when I shut the book immediately.
“Is there any problem, Oscar?” Ms. Stone asked me in a stern voice at the same time.
“No…. no, Ms. Stone,” I muttered awkwardly and glared at Fred.
Fred immediately cowered in his seat and hid his face inside the book.
I opened the book again, but flipped the page immediately.
For the next half hour, until the class finished, I just kept my eyes glued on the page in front of me, but I didn’t register a single word written there.
Nor did Ms. Stone speak all the time.
I put everything in my bag as soon as the bell rang at the end of the class.
Ms. Stone glanced at me one more time before going out of the class.
The coldness and accusation in her gaze were enough to make me suck in a breath.
“Oscar.” Galvin cried hard while running towards me as soon as Ms. Stone got out of the class.
“Don’t say a word to me. I can’t help you in this matter.” I immediately warned him coldly and stood up.
“Oscar. This is bad. The way Ms. Stone looked at you throughout the class, she knows.” Easton spoke hurriedly, worry evident in his voice.
“So what??” I asked him nonchalantly while stepping out of my desk.
“It must be Madelyn. She must have rattled on us.” Galvin muttered angrily.
“If she has rattled on to you, you would have been in the basement.” I stopped in my tracks when Stella yelled angrily.
“Where were you?” Galvin yelled angrily, marching towards her.
“None of your business, and stop spitting nonsense about Madelyn. Think about whom you have pissed off these past days. Don’t pin your faults and all the blame on Madelyn. You made a mistake; own that.” Stella retorted and dashed away.
“Hey, you. Come back. Stella. Come back.” Galvin yelled while running behind her.
He is doomed.” Easton grumbled, but I had more pressing matters to take care of.
“Where are you going?” Easton asked me hurriedly when I started walking in long strides.
“Meet me in the gym,” I ordered them while walking out of the class.
“Oscar.” I heard Easton yelling behind me, but I didn’t stop.
I needed to find Madelyn.
Madelyn is not skilled in hacking.
Whoever sent her the footage should be the one who sent the footage to the principal.
I needed to find this person as quickly as possible before he brings problems for me.
I reached Class F and stopped at the door, but to my dismay, she wasn’t in the class.
The students present in the class looked at me in confusion, but they resumed whatever they were doing.
It pissed me off again.
Where could she go?
I didn’t know about her schedule. We were in the same homeroom class, but we had different subjects.
We only had two common subjects - Economics and Business Administration—and we don't have any of those classes today.
“If you are looking for Maddie, she went to the library, but don’t think of bullying her anymore, Oscar. She is now one of us, and we protect each other.” Leo Davenport, the future heir of the Davenport family, spoke to me coldly.
His light blue eyes held provocation.
I grimaced but didn’t reply to him. I had no time to get involved in an argument with him.
So, I walked away towards the library.
The problem was that the library was in the second building, and I stopped abruptly when I remembered that the incident also happened there.
Ms. Stone told us that the school had tightened the surveillance. So, forcing her to answer me wasn’t an option for me now.
I took a deep breath and marched towards the staircase. Every second was crucial.
It took me a few minutes to reach the library. I stopped outside the library and let myself catch my breath, as I had almost run here.
After calming myself, I entered the library and immediately scanned the room to find her location.
I narrowed my eyes when I saw her on the second floor of the library.
