Chapter 49 I’ll Find Her.
MATTIAS'S POV
The drive to Derry's house felt like an eternity, my heart racing with worry and fear. I had to confront Derry and demand to know where Shimma was. The thought of her being taken away from me was unbearable. I couldn’t let that happen.
As I pulled up to the gates, the guards eyed me suspiciously as I parked my car. I stepped out, straightening my shirt and taking a deep breath. This was it. I had to be firm and demand respect.
“Good day, Sir Mattias. You know you’re not allowed in here,” one of the guards said as he approached me. Just before I could respond, Derry appeared at the gate, arms crossed and a frown etched across his face. “What are you doing here, Mattias?” he asked, his voice low and threatening.
“I need to talk to you about Shimma,” I replied, trying to keep my voice steady. “Where is she?”
Derry chuckled darkly, shaking his head. “You’re wasting your time, Mattias. She’s not here, and she’s not coming back.”
“Don’t play games with me, Derry,” I said, frustration bubbling up. “Just tell me where she is.”
He stepped closer, his expression hardening. “You think you can just demand things from me? Shimma is my daughter, and I will do what’s best for her. Leave this premises now,” he said, his jaw tightening as he stared at me.
I clenched my fists at my sides, resisting the urge to lash out. “I love her, Derry. She needs to be with me, not locked away from the world. You know I wouldn't be here if I didn't care about her. Why then are you doing this?”
Derry’s eyes narrowed. “You love her? You think this is love? You’ve manipulated her, my child. And you think you can manipulate me too? You must be foolish to think so.”
The accusation stung, and I took a step back, trying to regain my composure. “You don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ve never manipulated Shimma. I care about her more than you realize. Look, Derry, all I'm asking for is a chance. You're my best friend; I don't expect you to react this way.” I said as Derry laughed in a mocking Manner. The guards watching the scene unfold.
“You lost that right as my best friend the day you decided to mess with my child. I can't even stand you right now,” he said, turning away in disgust. I nodded slowly, understanding that no matter how hard I tried to reason with Derry, he would never listen. I needed to take matters into my own hands, or I would lose her forever.
“I don’t care what you think. I love Shimma, and that’s all that matters to me,” I said, about to turn when he interjected.
“You think you can just waltz in here and play the concerned boyfriend? You’ve already lost that privilege,” he said, his voice rising. “Shimma is leaving, and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
“You can’t take her away from me, I assure you,” I was desperate now, the thought of her gone sending a wave of panic through me. “I won’t let you do this. I don't care if you're her father. As long as she wants me, that’s all that matters to me,”
Derry sighed, his demeanor softening slightly, but his resolve remained firm. “You need to understand something, Mattias. No one can stop me from protecting my daughter. If you care for her at all, you’ll let her go.”
I shook my head. “I'm not leaving, You can’t stop me from finding her. No one will split us apart. I’ll do whatever it takes to bring her back, Bet on it.”
Derry’s expression turned cold again as he responded. “Then you’re really going to regret this.”
With that, he turned away, leaving me standing there, heart and mind racing with thoughts of what I would do next. I wouldn’t give up. Not now. Not ever.
I needed to find Shimma. Even if she's a thousand miles away. I'll find her. I promise.
