Chapter 48 No! This Can’t Be Happening!
LUCAS'S POV (CONTINUED)
I took a deep breath, trying to force out a convincing smile. “I’m a friend of Shimma’s. I was hoping to see her. It’s been a while since we last talked.” The guard studied me for a moment, his eyes narrowing with suspicion.
Wait here,” he said, stepping back to confer with another guard. I leaned back in my seat, glancing around at the well-kept surrounding. It was strange to think of Shimma living in such a pristine place, surrounded by tall hedges and manicured lawns. She always seemed so down-to-earth, so unlike this world.
When the guard returned, he looked less hostile but still cautious. “You can go in,” He said.
“Got it,” I said, relieved to be granted entry.
As I drove into the compound, the guard eyed me suspiciously. Which made me so uncomfortable. Why was he so suspicious of me. Isn't Shimma allowed to have friends?
The moment I parked. I stepped out of the car just in time to see Shimma getting into a vehicle, her face pinched in a way that suggested she wasn’t happy at all. Luggage was being loaded into the boot, and my heart sank.
“Shimma!” I called, rushing toward her. “What’s wrong?”
But as I approached, she slid into the car without looking back. The door shut with a definitive thud, and I felt a knot tighten in my stomach.
Just then, her father walked up, his frown deepening as he scrutinized me. “Who are you?” he demanded, his tone leaving no room for misinterpretation.
“I’m Lucas, a friend and colleague of Shimma’s at work,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady. I wanted to mention Mattias, to explain why I was there, but something stopped me. He had told me not to mention him.
I glanced back at the car where Shimma sat quietly, her eyes cast down.
Her father crossed his arms, his expression darkening. “A friend? You should know she’s leaving,” he said, his voice low and firm. “And I suggest you stay out of her business.”
I opened my mouth to argue, to explain that I was only trying to help, but the words caught in my throat. “Is she… is she okay?” I finally managed to ask, desperation creeping into my voice.
He sighed heavily. “ Yes, She's fine, It’s for her best,” he replied, shaking his head. Why would be say that? Did. He know i was sent by Mattias?
“If everything is fine, why then is she leaving?“ I asked, raising both brows.
“Like i said, shes fine. Now You go back and tell Mattias he no longer has the power to fool and control my daughter.”
A chill ran down my spine. The implication was clear: Mattias had crossed a line, and now it seemed he might be in serious trouble. I felt a surge of anxiety as I watched the car pull away, Shimma’s face still hidden from view.
I turned back to my own vehicle, my mind racing. What had Mattias done? Had Shimma’s father finally discovered the truth?
I climbed into my car, my thoughts racing as I drove back to Mattias’s place.
While i drove back, The road blurred by, as thoughts swirled my head.
What if Mattias had been caught? What if Shimma was being sent away because of him?
Fuck! She can't leave. If she does, i won't get a chance with her.
How do i find her if she leaves? What do i do now?
I gripped the steering wheel tightly, forcing myself to concentrate on the road ahead. I needed to figure this out... I can't let Shimma go just like that. Dammit.

MATTIAS'S POV
I was pacing in my living room, the silence making me more impatient.
Lucas had been gone for too long. I tried to convince myself that he was just taking his time, but deep down, I felt the anxiety creeping in.
When the door swung open, I turned to see him step inside, his face pale and drawn.
“Did you see her?” I asked, my heart racing.
He nodded slowly, running a hand through his hair. “Yeah, but… it’s not good, Mattias. She’s leaving.”
“What do you mean, leaving?” I felt the ground shift beneath me.
No! This can't be happening!
