Chapter 45 I Love Him!
My father went ahead to open the bathroom door, revealing an empty bathroom. I could feel my heart almost escaping my chest.
That was fucking close. But how did he get out so fast? The fact that he had to climb through my window, just to see me. Made me fall inlove with him even more.
Seeing that there was no one in my bathroom. My father turned back to me. “Look Shimma, here is your phone. I have blocked and deleted his number. And i hope this is the last time he is mentioned in this family,” He. Handed my phone to me but i refused to take it.
I mean, of what use would my phone be to me when i wouldn't be able to reach Mr Mattias.
“Okay, I'll just drop it right here,” he said, dropping it on my bed side table. Slowly, he advanced towards the door. But turned to me again.
“Shimma, I'm not against your happiness. This thing between you and Mattias. It—it wouldn't work. You might not know this now, but trust me, you'll come to find out later. I only want the best for you. I'm your father, and it is my duty to protect you,” he said.
While he spoke, i couldn't help the tears that rolled down my cheek uncontrollably.
This is a dream. No, this is a fucking nightmare. Who knew loving someome, just because of their age gap would be a crime. Who fucking made that rule!
Once my father left, i sat on my bed due to how weak and devastated i felt.
I sniffed in, turning to glance at my phone. How do i reach him now. How do i know he is okay, after jumping off my three floored building. I want to talk to him so bad.
MR MATTIAS'S POV.
I pulled up in front of my gate, when my gate guards opened the gate for me to go through. But i couldn't. 'Should i go back? What if he finds me this time? No! I have to think of something else,' i mumbled, driving into my compound.
I pick up my phone, punching in some numbers. After that i dialled it, impatiently waiting for a response.
“HELLO MR MATTIAS'S, HOW MAY I HELP YOU?“ It was a voice of a lady.
“GOOD DAY, I NEED YOU TO REACH THIS NUMBER,” I CALLED OUT THE NUMBER.
“ALRIGHT, MAY I KNOW THE CALLER'S NAME PLEASE,” The lady said.
“SURE, SHIMMA REYNOLD. AND ONE MORE THING,” I said quickly.
“OKAY SIR, WHAT'S THAT?“
“I ALSO NEED YOU TO REACH THIS NUMBER - - - - - - -, CALLER'S NAME IS DERRICK RAYNOLD, JUST INCASE THE FIRST ONE ISN'T AVAILABLE,” I said.
“OKAY SIR, PLEASE HOLD ON, I WILL CONTACT THEM NOW,” The lady said.
“ALRIGHT, THANK YOU,” I greeted.
It wasn't long before the private number began to dial Shimma's number. I could feel my heart race, and different thoughts began to swirl my mind.
“What if Derry hasn't handed Shimma's phone to her. What will is say to him if he picks up. How do i convince him that he is making a big mistake by standing against our relationship?“
I was brought back to reality when i noticed the call was connected.
“Hello,”….
SHIMMA'S POV
The silence in my room felt suffocating as I sat on my bed, staring at the phone my father had left behind. My heart raced with the fear of not knowing where Mr. Mattias was or if he was safe after his escape. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was losing something precious, something I had just begun to understand.
I picked up my phone, running my fingers over the screen as if it might magically connect me to him. The thought of my father’s words echoed in my mind: “It wouldn’t work.” But how could he know what was in my heart?
Just then, my phone began buzzing against my palm. I frowned, staring at the caller ID that stated “Private Number.” I hesitated, but my instincts urged me to answer.
“Hello?” The voice on the other end sent a jolt of electricity through me. My heart raced as I recognized it.
“Mattias?” I breathed, barely able to contain my excitement.
“Shimma, thank God! I was worried,” he said, his voice a mix of relief and urgency.
“I can’t believe you called! My dad took my phone, but I was thinking about you—about us,” I confessed, standing up and pacing my room as if it could somehow release the tension swirling inside me.
“I had to find a way to reach you. I can’t stand the thought of losing you,” he replied softly.
I could hear the sincerity in his voice. “My dad is really against us, Mattias. He thinks you’re... too old for me. He doesn’t understand.”
“I know. I overheard him. But I’m not going anywhere, Shimma. You need to believe that,” he said firmly.
I nodded, even though he couldn’t see me. “I just don’t know how to make him see that this is real. That we’re real.”
“Let’s take it one step at a time. We can figure this out together. I’ll do whatever it takes to prove my feelings for you,” he promised.
Just then, I heard footsteps approaching my room, and panic surged through me. “Mattias, I think my dad is coming back!”
“Okay, listen. Just stay calm. If he comes in, act normal. We’ll talk later, I promise,” he said, his voice steady.
“Right, normal. I can do that,” I whispered, my heart pounding.
“Love you,” he added, and warmth spread through my chest.
“Love you too,” I whispered back just before I hung up, tucking my phone under my pillow as my father opened the door.
Just then, my door gently opened, revealing my mother. I rolled my eyes, turning away, bracing myself for whatever she was about to say. I was certain it would worsen the situation.
“Shimma, can I talk to you?” she asked, her voice soft. I ignored her, still facing the other direction.
“I know you're mad at us, but I promise you, we only want the best for you. Your father and I have gotten you a ticket. We want you to move to another state, where you can cool off and maybe start afresh,” she said. I turned to her, anger building up in my veins.
“What did you just say?” I shot back, my voice rising.
She hesitated, her brow furrowing. “We believe it’s for your own good. You need to distance yourself from... from him.”
“Distance myself? You’re trying to take me away because you don’t approve of my feelings!” I exclaimed, my frustration boiling over.
“Shimma, it’s not that simple. You don’t understand the risks,” she urged, stepping closer.
“No, you don’t understand! I’m not a child anymore. I can make my own choices!” I retorted, feeling empowered in my anger.
“Please, just listen—”
“No! You listen! I love Mattias, and I won’t let you take that away from me!” I shouted, my heart racing as I realized how fiercely I meant every word.
My mother’s expression softened, but I saw the concern in her eyes. “I just want to protect you, sweetheart.”
“Protect me from what? Love?” I felt tears welling up, but I refused to let them fall. “You can’t keep me from him. You have to trust me.”
At that moment, I knew I had to stand my ground. Whatever happened next, I was ready to fight for what I believed in.
