Chapter 34 What Do We Do?!
SHIMMA.
“Enough!“ I cut in, stopping Lucas from saying anymore words.
I stepped forward, my heart racing as I faced Lucas.
“That’s enough, Lucas. What’s happening between Mr. Mattias and me isn’t your business. You need to leave, now.” I was surprised by how firm my voice sounded, but I knew this was important.
Lucas opened his mouth to argue, disbelief on his face. I raised my hand to stop him.
“I mean it. This is private and doesn’t involve you. If you can’t respect that, you need to go.” I felt the weight of my words.
Mr. Mattias stood tall, his gaze steady and focused. He glanced at Lucas, then back at me, exuding calm. I guess he liked that I was in control.
“Lucas, I suggest you leave. This is a personal matter, and your presence is not welcome.” I said calmly, trying to regain my composure.
After a moment that felt too long, Lucas sighed in frustration.
“Fine. But this isn’t over.” He glared at Mr. Mattias before turning and storming out, slamming the door behind him. The sound echoed in the silence.
I let out a slow breath, running a hand through my hair to calm down. I looked at Mr. Mattias, hoping for reassurance, and found it in his steady demeanor. “We need to be more careful,” I said softly, my voice shaking a little.
Mr. Mattias nodded, his brow serious but composed.
“I know. I’m sorry this got out of hand. We need to handle it wisely.” He reached out, his hand steady as he closed the distance between us. I felt a mix of comfort and uncertainty. This wasn't the time.
“We’ll talk about this later. Right now, we need to deal with Lucas.” My words felt heavy with meaning. The tension between us was palpable.
The silence stretched on, and I could almost hear the clock ticking, each second a reminder of our situation. Lucas had seen too much. He wouldn’t let this go. My mind raced—how would he confront us next? Would he tell my father? That thought chilled me.
Although, Lucas doesn't know any of my parents, he could find them, tell them. Why is he even bothered about this situation, why is he being this protective of me, when I bare even know him.
“Shimma,” Mr. Mattias said, breaking the silence. His voice was calm but firm. “I never wanted to drag you into this. I care about you, and I’m here to protect you.”
I looked at him, feeling the sincerity in his eyes.
“I know you care, but this—” I waved my hand between us, frustration bubbling up.
“This isn’t just a crush. It’s serious, and we know the risks.” Who knew a relationship with Mr Mattias would come with this much risk?
He nodded, running a hand through his hair, but his expression remained focused.
“I understand. My feelings for you are real, and I won’t ignore them. But we have to think clearly.” I wasn't saying he would, but atleast his words gave me reassurance. He wasn't willing to give up on this, on us. But yet…
“It’s not just about us,” I replied, my voice softer.
“Lucas doesn’t know me well, but he’s protective. He might not take this likely. He sees you as family, and I don’t want to hurt anyone,”
Mr. Mattias took a deep breath, his posture strong.
“I never wanted to put you in this position. We thought we could keep it quiet until we figured things out. But now we need to be strategic.”
I felt empathy mixed with my own confusion. “Maybe we need to be honest with Lucas. He deserves to know the truth, but we have to be careful how we tell him.” I mumbled.
He looked up, determination in his eyes.
“You’re right. We can’t hide from this. It’s too serious to ignore.” Mr Mattias said, I nodded.
I took a deep breath, feeling a bit of the tension ease.
“Let’s come up with a plan together. We can’t let this spiral out of control.”
We stood in silence again, but Mr. Mattias’s calm presence gave me strength. I couldn’t shake the feeling this was just the start of a bigger storm. Lucas wouldn’t back down easily. I don't know what he thinks of this but I know he doesn't approve of I and Mr Mattias's relationship, right from the start.
As I looked at Mr. Mattias, I realized whatever happened next would change everything—not just for us, but for everyone involved. We had to be ready for the fallout.
In that moment, I understood that love, while beautiful, could also be very complicated. (sigh)…
