Chapter 32
Connor's POV
Shortly after leaving Lydia's house, Charles called me to tell me that Claire had gone up to the building where Lydia's apartment was, and I instructed him to keep an eye on the woman and not let her do anything to hurt Lydia.
While I was working on the contract with DQ Group, Charles called me again to report that Lydia had taken a suitcase and stopped a taxi with that Ivan kid and seemed to be leaving the area.
How could she want to run away with that kid without my permission? I was so shocked and angry that I asked Charles to give me the license plate number of the taxi and immediately sent it to Locke, asking him to locate the taxi, and I was going to catch up with them and stop Lydia from leaving.
"What are you doing this for? Your fiancée Claire is already back, and Lydia is destined to be only your sister-in-law." Locke said helplessly on the other end of the phone, emphasizing the word "fiancée".
"I'm asking you to help me." I spoke to Locke on the other end of the line, and for the first time in my life, I begged.
"Hey, why bother." Locke sighed over the phone, "Who made me your brother? I can only give you up to another woman this time."
"Get lost." Faced with Locke's meaty words, I didn't hesitate to curse back.
Soon, I received a link on my phone, and when I clicked on it, it was the route of the taxi, and it looked like it was heading to the airport.
The taxi is still 30 minutes away from the airport, and the wait for the plane is about half an hour. I couldn't even put on my jacket, so I hurriedly put it on and ran all the way out of the office, calculating silently in my mind.
I can't wait to be able to release the silk thread like Spider-Man, swinging the thread to fly over a tall building to reach the airport directly.
"Find out for me which planes are taking off in London airports in one hour." I instructed Charles on the phone from the elevator.
The driver was on leave this morning and it was too late for him to come over from home, so I had to drive myself to the airport.
On the way, I ran countless red lights and passed several cars, causing a horn blast from the cars on the road and a tirade of abuse from the drivers on the road.
I don't care about that much, leaving Lydia behind is important.
At this time I did not even think about what to do if Lydia is not willing to stay, I only know that I have to hurry to the airport to tell her not to go, even if she does not want to, I have to tie her back to my side.
Finally, I drove to the suburbs.
Seeing that I was getting closer to the cab, the location link from Locke on the other end of the phone came with a live road human voice announcement, "Traffic accident one kilometer ahead, please slow down."
"Shut up!" I hammered the horn in exasperation, and my ride echoed my anger with a long beep.
Even if God came to my car right now, I wouldn't stop my chase after Lydia!
"There is a traffic accident 100 meters ahead, please slow down." The human voice in the location link was reminding me again.
The door behind the passenger seat was open, like a man with his hand raised to the sky calling for help.
"Drop! You have reached your destination!" The guy in the location link sent out a third alert.
What? Arrived at the destination?! Could it be ......?
No way! This must not be the taxi that Lydia was riding in.
I rushed near the car and looked at the plate that had been knocked out of shape.
" LS......79K......DE" I took out my phone and repeatedly compared this banged up license plate with the one Charles had sent me, and then again with the one I had sent Locke The license plate I sent to Locke.
I couldn't believe my eyes, I must have been mistaken, the taxi that Lydia was in was in an accident? What about Lydia? Is she okay!
After the nervousness, I smelled a gasoline smell, was my Lydia still in the car? I had to get her out or the car would soon burn and explode!
I hurriedly peeked in from the back of the car around the open door, and there was only Ivan and the driver, who was already dead in the driver's seat.
Could Lydia have been put in the back of the trunk? No, no, no, no. Charles told me to watch Lydia get into the car. But I did not dare to immediately rule out this possibility, so I had to open the trunk to see, which only Lydia's suitcase.
I moved the suitcase out and went back to the back seat and moved Ivan to my car.
Just after I settled the suitcase and the brat, the cab exploded and the highway burst into flames full of gasoline.
I felt the brat's artery, it was beating, still alive. I silently calculated that if I call an ambulance now, waiting for the ambulance to come over is estimated to take three hours, not as fast as I send him to the hospital.
Thinking, I started the car.
At the hospital, I waited for several hours and after dealing with a ton of work, the kid finally woke up.
"Where's Lydia?" I asked sharply, staring into his eyes.
The kid thought with wide eyes, then started covering his head with a look of pain.
"Doctor, get over here!" I yelled as I rang the emergency bell.
Soon the doctor came running over panting, "Mr. Co......Connor, what is it please?"
"Why does he look like this when he thinks about things!" I asked, lifting the doctor by the collar.
"You put him down, you just can't know Lydia's whereabouts even if you strangle him here now." The kid said breathlessly as he sat on the hospital bed.
"What do you mean?" I pushed the doctor to the side and rushed to the hospital bed.
I felt like a savage surviving in a primitive era now, I hadn't slept all night, my face had grown stubble, even my behavior and language had lost all traces of modern human civilization, and my desperate search for knowledge of Lydia's whereabouts made me unable to control my behavior.
"He ...... he was hit hard after a car accident ...... got a mild concussion ...... can't recall... ..." the doctor explained in a careful, trembling voice.
"All right. You go." I caught the key word "concussion" and did not want to listen to his nonsense, directly interrupted his words and drove him out of the ward.
The kid sitting on the hospital bed showed a helpless smile: "Not to mention more than ten years, even if it was last year, you showed such concern for Lydia, she would not have become this way today."
"Don't talk nonsense here, I don't need you to care about Lydia and me." I waved my hand in boredom, feeling like that kid was like an annoying fly, always buzzing around my ears talking nonsense and pointing fingers at my relationship with Lydia.
"I heard that hypnosis can evoke memories in the subconscious, maybe we'll be able to know what I saw before I passed out and deduce where Lydia went, do you want to try it?" The kid started buzzing in my ear again, but this time he said it in a pretty constructive way.
Without looking back, I answered him with my actions.
I picked up my phone and called Charles: "Get the best hypnotist in London to St. Mary's VIP9 ward in half an hour."
After briefly instructing Charles, I hung up the phone, believing that with the contacts he had accumulated and the ability he had honed over the years at my side, it would not be a problem to accomplish such a small task.
Then, I thought of another thing I could do about finding Lydia's whereabouts, I dialed Locke's number: "Lydia is missing, please also mobilize the power of your family to help me find her ...... the exact situation is not quite clear now ...... okay."
After I hung up the phone, the kid cocked his hand semi-immediately began is derisive half praise speech: "Rich can be really good."
"Hmph." I responded to him by letting the syllable out of my nose.
"I don't really know what Lydia likes about you either, but it can't possibly be that she likes that you're richer than me." I don't know if he was mocking himself or mocking me.
I was so full of wanting to know Lydia's whereabouts that I didn't care to bother with him anymore.
"Obviously I've liked Lydia for no shorter time than you, could it be that Lydia likes this old man smell of active oil on you?" The boy continued to chatter, but his words provoked my competitive spirit.
"You'll know what it means to smell like old man oil when you get better and we have a fight." I said indifferently.
I have to say, I began to appreciate this kid a little. Indeed, he has liked Lydia for no shorter time than me, and even when I hurt Lydia, he has always stood by Lydia to protect her, and when I did not know my own heart, not clear about my own feelings, he has been very clear that he only likes Lydia and only wants to protect Lydia.
This kind of person who knows his own mind and lives a happy life is indeed quite enviable. It's also an honor to have him as a rival to compete with me for Lydia's love.
"Let's fight, who's afraid." The boy was also aroused, holding back the pain from his injury, grimacing and waving his fist in response, "I don't show mercy to old men."
"I was at your side and found no trace of Lydia except for her suitcase." I steered the conversation to the main topic, after all, Lydia's safety was the most important thing right now.
"So do you think it's possible that she was taken away?" The kid finally came up with a second useful idea after waking up.
Before I could respond to him, the doorbell outside the ward rang. ,
"Come in!" I commanded in a loud voice.
Before the visitor could walk in, my cell phone rang, and it was Charles.
"Mr. Connor, Brown the hypnotist has arrived."
"Good." I hung up the phone.
The man who walked in was a man wearing black-framed glasses, wearing a decent suit, his face was calm, and he slowly introduced himself, "Hello Mr. Connor, my name is Brown."
"How do you do." I greeted him business-like without any emotion, "My friend has a mild concussion, please refresh his memory from before he passed out."
"Small problem." The hypnotist said and walked over to Ivan's bed, gesturing for him to lie flat.
Just as Ivan lay down, he pulled out the pocket watch on his chest and began his hypnosis.
