Chapter 31
Ivan's POV
When I was in school, my heart suddenly raced and I had a bad feeling in my heart.
Something had happened to Lydia, right?
That was my first reaction to my rapid heartbeat.
Thinking about the fact that Lydia has a baby in her belly and has been through so much recently, I was afraid that she would not be able to take the baby and commit suicide.
Panic and worry took over my heart, and I couldn't even ask for leave from school, so I hurriedly made a "report" that I had to go to the bathroom and ran out of school.
Luckily for me, I met a taxi just before the school gate and it stopped as soon as I waved. I gave a brief address and let the driver hurry off.
"Why isn't this damn elevator coming!" I stood under Lydia's house and pounded my hand against the wall.
No, it's too late, people's lives are at stake, what if I arrive late and something happens to Lydia!
The eighteenth floor is the eighteenth floor, fortunately I have not lacked exercise since childhood, it only took a few minutes to run from the first floor to the door of Lydia's house.
Just approaching, before I had time to knock on the door, I heard a female voice like Claire's coming from inside.
I heard the woman's voice with a sobbing voice saying harshly, "...... give me back."
It can't be that crazy woman who wants to do something to Lydia, right?
I didn't dare hesitate for a second to pound on the door of Lydia's house to distract the crazy woman inside and give Lydia a chance to escape, and to deter the crazy woman through this loud noise.
Soon, Lydia opened the door and I was relieved to see that she was all right, only her eyes were red.
Lydia, I will help you get justice for the wrong you have suffered!
I didn't have time to ask Lydia what had happened and rushed straight into the house.
There was a large table of dishes on the dining table, all of which Claire liked.
These dishes could not have been made by this crazy woman, if she did, then she must have poisoned the dishes or had some other plans for Lydia.
The crazy woman was standing at the table, her eyes were red, she was sniffling, and her collar looked wet, so it was hard to tell who was crying worse, her or Lydia.
According to the current situation, it seems that the crazy woman has no intention of hurting Lydia, so why is she here?
After I asked my question, I got a reply from the crazy woman with a sobbing voice and a pitiful voice.
Oh, if I hadn't seen her true face before, I might have really just believed her crocodile tears.
This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to seek justice for Lydia was finally seized by me, and I began to sneer at her: "All these years you've only been bullying Lydia, and now you're begging her?"
Wedding donkey, this crazy woman is really a big wedding donkey, even now, she does not realize that it is her husband's problem? If her husband had been able to take care of his grandchildren, things would not have come to this unmanageable state?
Then let me call you two couples, two stupid asses together!
In my justified and impassioned refutation, the crazy woman finally had nothing to say.
Before I could quietly congratulate myself for my victory, the madwoman reached out to Lydia again, holding her hand with a look of affection and telling her to take care of herself before she turned to leave.
Looking at the door that was closed by the crazy woman, I kicked the air twice to vent my heart's disgust.
"If you walk two steps slower, I'll scold you so much you won't be able to face anyone in London!" I said angrily.
"What's she doing here?" I asked Lydia.
Lydia tried to speak, but as soon as she opened her mouth, she burst into tears.
I got a tissue and scrambled to wipe her tears, while my other hand swiped her back to soothe her.
After a few minutes, having used up most of the roll of tissues, Lydia finally stopped crying and told me that the crazy woman had begged her to leave Connor.
"I know I was wrong, but how could I let go, I couldn't ...... Even when I was almost hit by a car in front of the hospital, I thought of Claire as Connor ...... "Lydia bawled again in front of me without regard to any image.
I knew as soon as I heard it that the crazy woman had fooled her again. Even if she was in a trance, she wouldn't be able to mistake a woman with long hair for a man with short hair, let alone two people who look so much different.
But I can't tell Lydia this fact because not only do I not have any proof that I'm right, but I'm also prone to make Lydia fall in love with that old man again because of this incident.
"Okay, okay, it's okay, it's all in the past ......" I patted Lydia's back and coaxed her in a soft voice.
When I look at Lydia, I can't express my heartache in words. I would rather she fall in love with that old man, get married and have children, and stay old, leaving me alone and sad, than to let her cry so much because of emotional matters.
Of course, what I wanted more than anything else was for that crazy woman to disappear from this world forever, so that Lydia's relationship with the old man would no longer be in conflict with ethics.
I soothed Lydia while silently analyzing the current situation in my mind, she had to leave the city and leave this man, otherwise not only her, even all members of the Green family would be ridiculed by the circle. After all, I had already heard rumors about Lydia and the old man when I had dinner with the elders recently.
Once she had calmed down a bit, I offered to take her out of London and we would live together in Washington.
She hesitated again as she did last time, and in order to push her to make the right decision, I told her the analysis I had just made in my mind.
Thinking that she has always been interested in the relationship between her parents, and recently because of this matter made Hope and Wendy are bad-mouthing her, I added: "Leave here, and after a long time everyone will forget about this matter, you can still repair the relationship with Mom and Dad, if not, they may be because you can not lift up in front of everyone for the rest of their lives , may hate you even more."
Sure enough, after these words were spoken, Lydia began to falter.
She nodded hard and slowly: "Okay, I'll pack my things now, you book the fastest tickets, and we'll leave here right away."
After saying that, Lydia went back to her room and started packing her bags.
At this point, I was in a conflicted mood. On the one hand, I was happy to see Lydia so determined to get out of this wrong relationship, and on the other hand, I felt sad for her sadness.
I helped Lydia take her luggage downstairs, called a taxi and went with her to the airport.
The car drove slowly through the bustling city of London, watching the traffic around us dwindle as we got further and further away from the city center, and I felt a sense of sadness for the city where I was born and raised, but it didn't matter when I escorted Lydia safely to Washington, I would come back again to help her sort out the rest. When all the turmoil is over, we can come back again.
Lydia was lying by the car window, looking at everything here with the same fondness as I did. I don't know if she missed the city she grew up in as much as I did or the man who lived in it.
"It's okay, I'll be with you when you go to Washington, you're not alone." I reassured Lydia and tried to hold her hand.
But she faked ruffling her hair and avoided it.
"When it's all over, when people have forgotten about it, you can come back again." I awkwardly scratched my head with my hand and continued to add.
"Ivan, really, thank you so much, my best friend." Lydia looked me in the eye and sincerely voiced her gratitude to me.
Before I could savor the tenderness in Lydia's eyes, the car suddenly made a sharp turn, nearly throwing me into Lydia's body.
"Grab the handrail above you!" The driver yelled back at us!
Lydia and I didn't know what was happening, so we listened to the driver and grabbed the armrests and sat up straight.
"Fuck, trying to drive over me?" The driver cursed rudely.
Lydia and I exchanged a look, each sensing the fear in the other's heart.
"What's going on?" I hurriedly asked the driver, wanting to be fully prepared before something happened.
"How should I know! I'm afraid you two eloping little brats have gotten into some kind of trouble, and a black car came down the road trying to run me over!" The driver cursed and stopped the car, "I admit my own bad luck, the money is not charged to you, hurry up and get out of the car with your things!"
The driver turned back to us and issued an order to evict.
Just as I was hesitating to unbuckle my seat belt and take Lydia out of the car, the driver started the car again.
"Shit! There's more than one! This time it's several! If we don't leave, we're dead! If you get away later, remember to pay me ten times the price for your two lives!" The driver was forced to start the car, while dodging left and right, while cursing under his breath, as a way to hide his fear.
For the first time in my life, I was so close to death that I was now completely unable to react, and could only shudder and say okay, okay.
And look at Lydia next to me, already fainted with fear.
God Jesus, the gods of the East and the West, for the sake of the fact that I have followed the rules all my life and have done nothing bad, let Lydia and I escape this fate!
I drew a cross on my chest with both hands and prayed silently in my heart.
As soon as the prayer fell from my heart, there was a "bang" in my ears.
At that moment, my first reaction was to protect Lydia, with the drive of consciousness, I turned my body aside to protect her, just at the moment the car stopped, and my head hit the back of the driver's seat.
I touched my head and it was all bloody, but luckily Lydia beside me was blocked from any harm.
In accordance with the images seen in the past in the movie, the car was impacted not long after, because of the oil leak and fire explosion, I endured the pain and hurried to unbuckle themselves and Lydia on the seat belt, want to open the door to take Lydia.
However, when I just touched the door handle, the car door opened automatically. A pair of hands in a black suit reached in and carried away Lydia, and also gave me a hand knife to my neck in the process.
"Ly......" I just watched as Lydia was taken away by a man in black and passed out without even being able to finish calling her name.
