Chapter 30
Claire's POV
Looking at Connor holding the fainted Lydia, I quietly followed. Not long after, they got into Connor's car, looking at the direction of travel should be headed to Lydia's home.
To avoid being noticed, I called a taxi and followed them from a distance.
When I was about to arrive at Lydia's house, I saw Connor's car still parked downstairs. I had to hastily stop the taxi and go to a nearby coffee shop where I could observe Connor's car without being easily noticed.
I waited from the afternoon until the evening, Connor finally came out of Lydia's house, he took his cell phone and did not know what to say, and walked to the car.
After watching Connor's car go away, I did not dare to go up immediately, and waited for about ten minutes before I came out of the coffee shop.
Lydia's house is very quiet, the smell of food wafting through the house, but there is no movement.
Is Lydia not at home? There is no reason, I have just been in the coffee shop to keep an eye on the outside, even if there is anyone passing will not be ignored by me, and just now Connor is also a person left from here empty-handed, there is no chance in my eyes to take Lydia quietly away.
I walked into Lydia's bedroom with my suspicions, and let out a long breath when it turned out she was sleeping. I immediately deduced that the dinner in the dining room must have been made for her by Connor before he left, and the jealousy in me began to grow again.
I looked at the person lying on the bed, looked at her face, her body, remembered all that she had experienced and done in the past twenty years, and I wondered more and more what I was not as good as her, and why Connor could like her so much but not me who was better than her in every way.
After standing by her bed for a long time, I noticed that her hand moved slightly and a painful moan came out of her mouth.
I hurriedly put away the resentful look on my face and turned into a caring sister, going up to her and holding her hand and asking anxiously, "Are you awake? Do you want some water?"
I swept my eyes over the bedside table and saw that Connor had even poured water for her, and the hatred in my heart became even clearer.
Hmph, even if he did everything for you, I wouldn't even let you know, so let me impersonate him and steal his credit, so you have one less hope for him!
"You were worried sick about me, how come you just ran out of the hospital and passed out?" I held her hand tightly and helped her up from the bed.
Lydia's eyes looked around, as if she was looking for something. Could it be that she had seen Connor before she passed out and knew that Connor had brought her back?
I decided to test her a little.
"Here, have some water first." I handed her the glass of water next to me, "I've already made you dinner, get up later and eat in the dining room."
"Yeah." Lydia responded indifferently, her eyes still searching around.
I scolded her quietly in my mind for being so insensitive.
"Did you bring me back?" I didn't think I'd have to wait any longer to try, but Lydia asked me first.
"Yes, you were almost hit by a car, I was scared!" I pretended to look like I was still in shock.
Only to see Lydia's eyes darken and reveal a look of disappointment.
Sure enough, I guessed correctly that she knew it was Connor who saved her. Luckily, I followed them and saw everything at that time, and could use it to confuse her memory.
"Thank you." Lydia whispered.
"We're sisters. But still, please forgive me, when I saw you almost hit by a car I was frightened and angry, so I scolded you, my sister did not mean to, I hope you do not mind." I repeated what happened again, hoping to achieve the purpose.
Sure enough, Lydia's eyes began to drift off and looked as if she was trying to remember what had happened.
"What did you curse me for at the time?" Apparently Lydia didn't believe 100% of what I said and asked such a detailed question.
Luckily, I was not far away and vaguely heard a few key words Connor said, so as long as I answered less specifically, I shouldn't have been exposed.
"I was asking if you were crazy." I looked Lydia straight in the eye, hoping to show my honesty and cover up my weakness.
Time was like frozen molasses, just a few seconds of staring, but I felt as if centuries had passed. Finally, I saw the suspicion and caution in Lydia's eyes slacken.
"Don't think about it, you're in shock and it's normal for your memory to be confused. Let's eat first, the doctor said you need to rest and eat more nutritious things." I urged Lydia.
In a moment, she stood up dismally and was pulled by my arm to the dining room.
Lydia saw a table full of her favorite dishes and her eyes began to redden. I guessed she was beginning to falter and continued my offensive.
"Lydia, I'm sorry, I didn't keep an eye on my husband to make him do such a thing ......" I said to Lydia, choking back tears.
This sentence directly pinched the soft spot in Lydia's heart, and it seems to have aroused her sense of guilt.
"No ...... don't say that ......" Lydia began to cry.
I cried along with her, even more intensely than she did: "It's happened, but can you leave Connor?Even if my sister begs you, give Connor back to my sister ......"
I cried while secretly happy in my heart, crying scene said to come, I do not go to Hollywood as an actor is really a waste.
Lydia did not have any verbal response to my words, just cried louder.
I knelt down again, looked up at her, took her hand and said: "Please, my sister has nothing in her life, and her happy life has only begun a few months, how can you bear to destroy it? I really love and adore Connor."
Her brow furrowed, as if she was making a difficult decision. I also understand that she has loved Connor for more than ten years, not that she can just let go, but I definitely will not sympathize with her. I, Claire, will not sympathize with this woman who stole everything from me since I was a child, and who wants to ruin my happy life when I grow up!
"I know that the baby in your belly is a little life, just like the baby in my belly, and it's impossible to just say give up. If you don't want to abort the baby, it's okay to have it, my sister is willing to help you raise it and treat it like the baby in my belly that I gave birth to, as long as you are willing to leave Connor and give him back to me." I continued to cry, intending to tip the scales of her heart a little more to my side.
Her eyes were filled with emotion and she was about to nod her head in agreement when the doorbell suddenly rang.
Lydia hurriedly helped me up and walked to the door.
Why, every time there is an accident when things are about to work out! If this were a play, I would have struck it right now!
"Ivan?!" Lydia's surprised voice rang out from the other side of the door.
The uninvited guest outside the door walked right in without any response, and he seemed surprised to see me.
"What are you doing here?"
"Funny, why can't I be here?" I thought to myself.
I was only halfway through the play, so I couldn't just change my face like that, so I continued to play the pity, hoping that I could sway Lydia's decision.
"I've come to beg Lydia to leave Connor."
The moment he heard these words, Ivan's face showed a hint of sarcasm: "All these years you've only been bullying Lydia, and now you've come to beg her?"
I knew that Lydia was the one he cared about the most, so I took him by the scruff of the neck and fired back, "Wasn't Lydia at fault in this? I am also a victim! I think it's enough for me to do this! Please don't make a distinction between right and wrong!"
Ivan still defended Lydia: "So what if it's Lydia's fault? Do you two couples have the nerve to blame Lydia? She's only nineteen years old, she can't tell the difference!"
"Then at least she's not like you, who doesn't distinguish between ethics and morals, between right and wrong." I raised my chin slightly and glanced at Ivan to retort.
"Would your husband have been able to tell the difference? Lydia is an idiot! Your husband is the one who is black to black, if he wants to do something to Lydia, Lydia can resist! You probably don't know that your husband held Lydia captive for a whole month, she didn't even have a chance to contact the outside world, and finally she escaped herself!" Ivan also defiantly and loudly defended Lydia.
He, it turns out that Connor locked Lydia in the house for a month, no wonder after returning to always feel that the placement of things at home is not quite right, not like my usual habits, more like the habits used by Lydia in the Green house.
"Really want to manage, just go home and manage your man! Don't let him bark and sleep with women all day long like a male dog in heat!" The kid was more arrogant when he saw that I didn't say anything, and even said these unpleasant words.
No, I have to endure! The purpose of my visit today is not to fight with him, but to convince Lydia to leave Ivan, it is difficult to get a little guilt and opportunity in Lydia's heart, I can not ruin it all because of a moment of anger!
I, Claire, can give in and take out! The insult I received on you kid today, I will pay back twice as much later!
"Okay, I'm sorry, I didn't control my man, I'm sorry for the trouble I caused you." I put away my anger and coldly uttered an insincere apology to Ivan.
"I'm leaving, you remember to take care of yourself." I took Lydia's hand and gazed deeply into her eyes, attempting to leave a little more leverage to overwhelm the scales of her heart in this moment.
After that, I turned around and left Lydia's apartment.
Even if you win now, so what, the final result is not yet out, all the competition, only the last laugh is the real winner.
I silently cheered myself up in my heart and secretly hoped that things would turn around.
