Chapter 94 Wanting to Have a Child
Tristan raised an eyebrow, "Why are you suddenly asking this?"
"I'm curious."
"Maybe," Tristan said casually. "After all, I've never tried sleeping with other women."
Harriet blurted out, "That's impossible!"
"Why not?" Tristan looked displeased. "You think I've had a lot of women?"
Harriet swallowed.
After marriage, if he hadn't slept with Lark, then there probably weren't other women.
But what about before marriage?
With such a high sex drive, he'd never had sex before marriage?
Who would believe that?
Seeing her disbelief, Tristan became serious. "Harriet, do you really think I've had many women?"
"I didn't say many," Harriet said carefully. "But before marriage, there should have been one or two, right?"
Tristan's face darkened. "Am I that casual?"
Harriet pursed her lips. "Don't tell me you're saying I was your first time?"
"Is there a problem with that?"
"Really?" Harriet couldn't believe it, then quickly added, "Tristan, you don't need to say that just to make me happy. Even if you had relationships before marriage, that was before, so I have no reason to mind."
Tristan froze.
His face turned dark instantly.
Harriet shrank back in fear. Just as she was about to explain, his handsome face suddenly loomed close, and the next second, her lips were captured in a kiss.
Tristan's kiss was forceful and dominating, leaving Harriet no room to resist.
Plus, with his injury, Harriet was afraid his wound would tear open again, so she was extra careful and didn't even dare push him away.
Though they'd kissed countless times, Harriet still fell for him again and again.
What started as a punishing kiss gradually spiraled out of control for both of them, until Harriet felt his body reacting. She suddenly came to her senses and quickly pushed against his chest. "Tristan, calm down."
Tristan had refused to let Harriet treat him, so she didn't know how much this injury affected him sexually, but from the past few days, he clearly had normal reactions.
But the Lancaster Group's hospital was the most prestigious in Athenia, and they had declared he'd lost his sexual function, which shouldn't be wrong.
So he should have normal sexual responses, but couldn't actually have sex.
Harriet felt even more guilty. "Tristan, I believe you, okay? Don't get worked up."
Tristan didn't bother explaining. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself.
"Let's sleep."
"Okay."
The next day at noon.
Harriet used her lunch break to visit Haven at the Lancaster Manor.
"Grandma, how are you feeling today?"
"I won." Haven happily held out her hand to Iris. "Pay up."
Iris pulled out cash without complaint.
"Grandma, were you making a bet?"
"Yes, we guessed who would come home to see me first today. I guessed it would be you."Harriet smiled and shook her head, then went to check Haven's condition.
"Grandma, you're fine now, but you still need to rest more and not get too emotional."
"Okay, I'll listen to you."
After chatting for a while, Harriet went back to work.
Just as she reached the front gate, she ran into Owen coming back.
They both stopped, and Owen spoke first. "How's the divorce going?"
"Tristan and I just made up. If I suddenly bring up divorce, he'll definitely be suspicious."
"Then you better hurry up. If you keep delaying, I'll completely strip Tristan of his power." Owen smiled. "Don't think about changing your mind. If you don't divorce, Tristan will be kicked out of the Lancaster Group. Do you think he'll still be able to protect you and your family when he has nothing?"
Harriet's fingers trembled slightly. "I understand. I'll do it as soon as possible. Please don't make things difficult for Tristan."
"He's my son. As long as he listens to me, I have no reason to make things difficult for him."
That evening, Harriet got off work on time and returned to Cloud Bay.
The study door was open. When Harriet reached the doorway, she saw Tristan working.
She'd called Ryder that afternoon to discreetly find out, and sure enough, as Owen said, he'd used Tristan's injury as an excuse to suspend all his work, with Owen taking over the Lancaster Group.
In other words, Tristan currently had no work.
Harriet guessed Tristan didn't want her to know about this, so when it was time to get off work, he pretended to be working hard.
Harriet's heart ached.
"You're back?" Tristan looked up and saw Harriet at the door. "Why didn't you say anything?"
Harriet collected herself. "I saw you were busy and didn't want to disturb you."
Tristan closed his laptop and walked toward her. "I'm done now."
"Did your wound hurt today?"
"No."
"Still, you need to rest. Lie down more when you have nothing to do."
"Okay."
Tristan pulled her into his arms. "What about you? Was work tiring today?"
"Not tired. I went to see Grandma at noon. She's fine now, so don't worry."
Tristan kissed her hair. "Mrs. Lancaster is the most filial."
After dinner, Tristan went to the study again.
Harriet packed up some soup Rhea had prepared earlier and went to the hospital to see Flora.
Flora wasn't in good spirits. Harriet stayed to talk and comfort her until after ten before returning to Cloud Bay.
As soon as she entered the master bedroom, she saw Tristan sitting on the edge of the bed with his back to her, holding something.
Harriet closed the door while asking, "Tristan, what are you looking at?"
When Harriet walked closer and saw what he was holding, her face changed.
Tristan slowly turned to look at her. "Harriet, tell me, what is this?"
Harriet bit her lip hard, unable to speak for a long time.
Seeing her like this, Tristan's suppressed anger exploded. "Harriet, I'm asking you a question! I'm asking you what this is!"
Harriet was so frightened she trembled, and said shakily, "Divorce papers."
Tristan stood up and walked to her in a few steps, his tone softening slightly. "It's from before, you forgot to throw it away, right?"
Harriet forced down the pain in her heart and said softly, "No."
Tristan closed his eyes in despair. "Actually, I looked carefully at the content. I know it was newly drafted. Harriet, you want to divorce me again, don't you?"
"I'm sorry."
Tristan opened his eyes and laughed mockingly. "You wrote in the agreement that you'll be my personal doctor for life, taking care of my health for free. You've clearly planned to repay me this way, so how could you be sorry?"
"Tristan..."
"Why?" Tristan interrupted her. "Tell me, why did you change your mind? Why do you want a divorce?"
Harriet's hands slowly clenched into fists, and she said with difficulty, "I want children."
Tristan froze, then laughed coldly. "So the reason you want a divorce is because I can't give you children now?"
"Yes." Harriet's eyes gradually became firm. "I've had no parents since childhood. Now in this world, apart from Uncle Jasper, I have no close family left. I love children and want to have my own child."
