Chapter 214: A Night of Pleasure
There was no emotion to be found in Tristan's deep eyes.
Seeing he didn't speak, Lark continued, "Tristan, your mom and Harriet should be the two most important women in your life, right?"
"One night with me in exchange for both of them getting better - you're not losing out on this deal." Lark said considerately, "Tristan, since I love you so deeply, I'm willing to make another concession."
"Griffin came to kill me because of Harriet. As long as you sleep with me for one night and make my dream come true, I'll let Griffin go."
"If you don't agree, I'll kill Griffin. That way, Harriet will spend the rest of her life remembering the sacrifice Griffin made for her."
Tristan laughed instead of getting angry, "Not bad. After entering the Romanov family, you've gotten smarter. You know how to manipulate me now."
Lark said rather proudly, "Of course."
Tristan considered it, "I can think about agreeing, but first, I need to make sure my mom and Harriet's conditions can actually be treated. Otherwise this exchange is meaningless."
"In this world, there's no illness that Dr. Aiden can't cure." Lark said confidently, "Otherwise you wouldn't have spent all these years trying to track her down."
"You can bring them to Golden Ember Hotel to see me anytime. I'll have Dr. Aiden examine them then."
In the evening, Harriet came out of the clinic and saw Tristan's car parked at the entrance.
She walked up and opened the back door, seeing Tristan sitting in the back seat.
"Tristan, what are you doing here?"
"I came to pick you up from work." Tristan smiled, "Let's go eat first."
"Okay."
The two went to an upscale restaurant for dinner, then headed to Golden Ember Hotel.
Harriet asked, "What are we doing here?"
"Lark found Dr. Aiden. I want Dr. Aiden to take a look at your condition."
Harriet naturally welcomed this, but quickly thought of something, "Lark hates me to the bone. How could she possibly want to help me? Could this be a trap?"
Tristan touched her hair, "With me here, nothing will happen."
The two ran into Ian at the hotel entrance.
"Mr. Jones, what are you doing here?"
"Mr. Lancaster asked me to come."
Tristan explained, "I asked Mr. Jones to come to verify whether Dr. Aiden is real or fake."
Harriet nodded, "You're always so thorough."
The three of them went up to the top floor together.
From the moment they stepped out of the elevator, there was a bodyguard stationed at regular intervals.
When Harriet came last time, there were no bodyguards.
The same middle-aged man from last time opened the door.
As soon as they entered, they saw a middle-aged woman sitting on the living room sofa, dressed simply but with an air of elegance that couldn't be hidden.
"Dr. Aiden!" Ian exclaimed, walking forward excitedly, "I finally get to see you again!"
The middle-aged woman stood up, "Ian, long time no see. How have you been?"
Lark walked out from the bedroom, laughing lightly, "Whose idea was it to have Mr. Jones come verify whether Dr. Aiden is real or fake?"
Tristan ignored her and asked, "Mr. Jones, is Dr. Aiden... this lady?"
"Yes." Ian excitedly held the middle-aged woman's hand, "Our school doesn't accept female students, but Dr. Aiden was so talented that my master made an exception and took her as a student."
"But we always told outsiders she was a male student. Even the name Aiden was given to her by my master. Her real name is actually Ondine Smith."
"How could the person the Romanov family found be fake?" Lark crossed her arms, speaking dismissively, "Just because you couldn't find her doesn't mean the Romanov family couldn't either."
Tristan took Harriet's hand and walked forward, "Dr. Smith, this is my wife. Could you please check if her condition can be cured?"
Ian also spoke up, "Dr. Smith, this is my student. Her name is Harriet Getty. Harriet, say hello."
Harriet nodded to Ondine, "Dr. Smith."
"Anyone Ian would take as a student must have something special." Ondine gestured, "Sit down, let me take a look at you."
"Thank you."
While examining her, Ondine said, "You were probably premature, born with a weak body, but fortunately you've been taking care of your health since childhood, so your condition is relatively okay."
"Yes." Harriet said, "My grandparents were also doctors. They said I was weak from birth and always sleepy. Later they carefully helped me take care of my health, and I gradually got better."
Ondine nodded, "But you must have been exposed to cold at some point, which damaged your foundation and will affect your fertility."
"My grandparents and Mr. Jones actually all diagnosed this, but they all kept it from me and didn't teach me about this aspect of medicine."
Tristan asked, "Dr. Smith, can my wife's condition be cured? I don't need her to be able to have children, I just want her to be healthy."
"She shows signs of being treated with medication." Ondine looked at Ian, "Did you prescribe it?"
"Yes, I've done my best."
"I can see that you've really tried your hardest to treat her, but it hasn't helped much." Ondine withdrew her hand, "Give me three months. If nothing unexpected happens, I should be able to cure it."
"However, the treatment is quite troublesome. Not only will she need to take medicine, but it also requires herbal treatments and special treatment methods."
"We need to find a quiet place, preferably with hot springs. She must retreat with me for three months of treatment."
Tristan breathed a sigh of relief, "None of that is a problem."
"Dr. Smith, Harriet is extremely talented. Her medical skills have already far surpassed mine." Ian said, "When she treats patients, I can even see your shadow in her."
"If you could give her some guidance, her medical skills would definitely improve by leaps and bounds. Do you think you could..."
Before Ian could finish, Ondine interrupted him."School rules - unless I take someone as a student, I don't give outside guidance on medical skills."
"You're right. What I mean is, if you're willing to take Harriet as your student and guide her, that would naturally be wonderful. I can stop being her teacher anytime."
Harriet frowned, "Mr. Jones, how can that work?"
"Harriet." Ian said seriously, "Dr. Smith's medical skills are extraordinary. If you can really become her student, it's your good fortune. Once you get her guidance, your medical skills will improve, which is a good thing."
Harriet pressed her lips together slightly and said nothing more.
"I've never taken a student, and I won't take one carelessly." Ondine said, "Since Ian has said this much, let me see just how talented you are before I decide. Ian, find two random patients and let her treat them so I can see."
Ian was delighted, "I'll arrange it right away!"
Less than twenty minutes later, the doorbell rang.
It was Gemma and Uma who arrived.
Lark drank her tea calmly, watching Ondine examine Gemma.
"Mrs. Gemma Lancaster's situation is quite complex. I need a separate room to do a more thorough examination."
Lark said graciously, "The room next door is empty, use it."
About half an hour passed before Ondine came out.
"Mrs. Gemma Lancaster's spinal nerves are damaged, causing full-body paralysis. I can try my best, but I can't guarantee I can cure her. And the treatment process will be quite painful, with constant risk to her life, so I don't recommend taking such a risk."
Tristan fell into thought.
"I want the treatment."
Gemma's voice came from beside them. Uma pushed her out of the room.
"Tristan, my life is worse than death. Now that we've finally found Dr. Aiden, she's my last hope." Gemma looked determined, "No matter how dangerous it is, I must try!"
"I understand." Tristan responded flatly.
"Dr. Smith," Ian said, "The patient I found is here. Please evaluate Harriet's medical skills."
"Alright."
Harriet examined, diagnosed, and treated the two patients one by one.
Ondine sat quietly watching. After she finished the treatment, Ondine went forward to verify.
"Dr. Smith, how was it?"
"Not bad. The way she treats patients does resemble me somewhat."
"That's great!" Ian said happily, "So will you consider taking her as your student?"
"No." Ondine said coldly, "Her medical skills are decent, which is indeed rare, but she's far from qualified to be my student."
The words were direct, and Tristan's face darkened immediately.
Ian quickly said, "Harriet is very talented. It would be a shame not to teach her properly."
"Being your student is indeed enough, so you teach her well." Ondine sat down on the sofa, "But to be my student, she's far from qualified."
Lark laughed outright, "Harriet, I thought you were so capable, but turns out you're this looked down upon."
Harriet remained calm, "Dr. Aiden's medical skills are exceptional. Not being chosen by her is nothing to be ashamed of."
"Stop comforting yourself. Incompetence is incompetence." Lark looked at her with contempt, "No matter how much money Tristan throws at you to prop you up, it's useless."
Harriet fell silent.
Did her reputation really look like it was bought with Tristan's money?
