Chapter 136 Your Husband's Credit
Friday came in the blink of an eye.
After work, Harriet went to the flower shop to pick up the flowers she'd ordered in advance, then took a cab to Flora's place.
Finnegan was already there. What Harriet didn't expect was that Tristan was there too.
Even though it had only been a few days since they'd seen each other, Harriet felt like it had been forever.
The moment their eyes met, complicated emotions surged in both their gazes, but neither spoke first.
"Harriet, perfect timing." Flora came over to greet her. "And you brought me flowers?"
"Yes." Harriet looked away from Tristan and said, "I ordered two potted plants for you at the flower shop. I hope you like them."
"I love them, thank you. Come on in." Flora smiled as she welcomed her inside. "I just tried my luck contacting Mr. Lancaster, and I never thought he'd actually be free to come. I'm really honored."
"You all helped me so much, I don't know how to thank you. I thought about giving gifts, but you're not people who need money, and I was afraid you wouldn't think much of them. All I can do is invite you for dinner to show my appreciation. I hope you don't mind."
Harriet smiled. "Flora, you're too kind."
Flora gestured around. "Make yourselves at home. I'm going to the kitchen. I'm cooking myself today, so everyone can try my cooking."
Harriet immediately said, "Let me help you."
"No need, just sit. I can handle it."
Harriet watched her cheerful figure and couldn't help feeling pleased.
"Mr. Savoy, thank you so much. Flora has really come out of the shadow of her marriage. She's so relaxed and comfortable now."
Marriage was just one option on life's long journey—you could choose it or give it up.
The ultimate goal was to make yourself happy.
Flora gave up her marriage and found happiness, which was a good thing.
"That's your husband's doing." Finnegan took a sip of tea and joked, "Who told him to have such a high status?"
Harriet instinctively looked at Tristan, saw him staring at her, and immediately looked away, picking up her teacup to drink.
Finnegan took in both their reactions and said with a smile, "Flora's handmade garden is famous in Emberfall. I heard there's a greenhouse full of rare flowers and plants. I have to go see it. Excuse me."
With that, Finnegan got up and left.
Harriet didn't know how to be alone with Tristan. She immediately put down her cup. "I'm going to the restroom!"
She went to the restroom to wash her hands and calm her messy thoughts before opening the door to leave.
As soon as she opened the door, someone grabbed her wrist.
The next second, Harriet was pulled into a side room nearby.
The door to the side room closed, and she was pressed against it by Tristan.
Harriet frowned. "What are you doing?"
"What do you think?" Tristan demanded. "These past few days when I wasn't home, did you have fun?"
"How did I have fun?" Harriet tried to struggle. "Let go!"
Tristan pinned her firmly against the door, mocking, "The reunion felt good, didn't it? Did you two embrace and cry together again?"
"What are you talking about?" Harriet frowned. "This is someone else's house. Let go right now!"
"You're pretty familiar with this place, aren't you? It's not like this is the first time."
Harriet remembered last time was also here, remembered his crazy behavior, and her face involuntarily flushed. "I'm not in the mood for your madness. Let me go!"
"I'm mad?" Tristan laughed coldly. "Then let me show you what real madness is!"
With that, he kissed her lips directly.
Harriet's eyes widened as she pounded on his chest.
Tristan didn't back down, kissing her even harder.
Harriet was forced to endure his kiss and teasing, her breathing gradually becoming ragged and out of control.
Taking advantage of a breath, Harriet finally managed to speak. "Tristan, are you crazy? This is someone else's house, you..."
Tears fell from Harriet's eyes.
Along with them came grievances she had nowhere to express.
Tristan was always like this, not considering her feelings, using his physical advantage to bully her.
Not even caring about time or place.
In this marriage, she was always the weaker party, never getting equal respect.
The more Harriet thought about it, the more wronged she felt. She lowered her head and bit hard into his shoulder.
Even through the shirt fabric, Tristan still felt a twinge of pain.
"Trying to bite me to death?"Tristan laughed softly and kissed her lips.
Suddenly, an abrupt phone ringtone interrupted the intertwined sounds of breathing in the air.
Harriet had been holding her phone the whole time. Tristan glanced at the name on the screen, and a strange smile curved his lips."Answer it. What if it's something urgent?"
Harriet hesitated, then swiped to answer. "Griffin."
"Harriet, you're not home?"
"No, I'm having dinner at a friend's place. Did you come to my place looking for me?"
"I wanted to take you to dinner, but since you're busy, let's do it another day."
Harriet was about to respond when Tristan suddenly bit down on her shoulder!
Harriet gasped in pain, letting out a soft moan.
Griffin immediately asked on the other end, "Harriet, what's wrong!"
"Nothing." Harriet bit her lip tightly, looking hazily at Tristan in front of her as he went at it viciously, struggling to speak. "I... I got bitten by a bug."
"Be careful. Call me if anything happens."
"I know." Harriet said hastily, "If there's nothing else, let's leave it at that."
"Okay, we'll talk later."
Harriet immediately hung up, glaring accusingly at Tristan.
"What, are you that afraid of him knowing what you're doing?" Tristan smirked, mockery floating in his eyes. "Why hang up so fast? I haven't let him hear anything more exciting yet."
Harriet's scalp tingled. "This is someone else's house! We still have to go out for dinner later!"
Tristan laughed softly. "So what? No one dares gossip about me anyway."
Harriet was going crazy.
Because he really would make it so she couldn't walk out of here tonight!
"Tristan, even if you're going crazy, there should be limits!" Harriet said anxiously.
Tristan didn't stop. "Fine, beg me."
"I'm begging you."
"But I'm not satisfied yet." Tristan kissed the corner of her lips. "Unless we continue at home tonight."
Harriet wanted nothing more than to bite him to death right here!
Tristan slowly worked on her, unhurried. "Think it over carefully. I have all the patience in the world, Mrs. Lancaster."
Harriet was about to lose it. She gritted her teeth. "Fine, I agree!"
"It's a deal!"
