Chapter 282 Son Comes to Assist

Chapter 282 Son Comes to Assist

Scarlett called Chase, and after picking up Chase immediately reported to Ambrose.

Ambrose had just arrived at the office with a cup of coffee. After Chase finished speaking, he checked his phone—no missed calls, not even a single message.

She didn’t even bother to call him anymore.

"Get Dr. Watson to check on him." Ambrose's face was cold, showing no intention of going to see the child himself.

Chase understood the situation. The fact that Scarlett hadn’t contacted Ambrose directly when the child was sick, but reached out to him instead, showed that the two hadn't made up yet.

This made Ambrose sulk even more. If things continued like this, it would be very difficult for them to reconcile.

"Mr. Boleyn, with Hayden’s condition, it’s always tough when he gets sick. You should really go see him."

Ambrose sat still. "I have an important meeting coming up. We'll talk after the meeting. Let Dr. Watson on him first."

Scarlett waited at home for the doctor. Twenty minutes later, Paxton arrived to examine Hayden. During the examination, Hayden suddenly said to Scarlett.

"Scarlett, I want some water. Can you get it for me?"

Scarlett nodded and left the room to get water. As soon as she left, Hayden immediately grabbed Paxton's hand.

"Dr. Watson, tell Scarlett and my dad that I'm really sick, so my dad has to come over," Hayden whispered.

Paxton frowned. "What's going on with you, Hayden?"

"My dad and Scarlett had a fight. He hasn't come home in a long time. I want him to come back."

Paxton touched his head, was silent for a moment, then said, "Alright, I'll help you."

Hayden smiled. "Thank you."

When Scarlett came back with the water, Paxton had already put away his instruments. After she handed the water to Hayden, she quickly asked.

"Dr. Watson, how is Hayden?"

Paxton said with a serious expression, "I need to wait for Ambrose to discuss this condition. Call him and tell him I'm waiting here for him."

Scarlett's heart jumped, thinking it sounded quite serious. She quickly said.

"Is it serious?"

Paxton didn't answer directly, only saying Ambrose should come quickly. Scarlett couldn't worry about anything else and picked up her phone to call Ambrose.

Ambrose was in a meeting, though he sat there completely distracted. When his phone rang, he quickly grabbed it. Seeing Scarlett's number, his tense face immediately relaxed.

He picked up his phone and stood up. The phone rang four times before he answered.

"What's wrong?"

"Hayden's illness looks serious. Dr. Watson says you need to come over." Her voice on the other end was full of worry.

Ambrose frowned slightly, paused for two seconds, then said, "Did he say what's wrong?"

"No, just said you need to come."

"I'm coming now."

Ambrose had Ryder take over the meeting. If anything important came up, he’d handle it when he got back.

Twenty minutes later, he appeared at Lakeside Garden. He saw Paxton and Yara in the living room talking. As soon as Yara saw him, she rushed over.

"Ambrose, you haven't come to see me in so long. Have you forgotten about me?"

Ambrose bent down and picked her up. Smelling the milky scent on her, much of his fatigue from the past two weeks faded.

"How could I forget about Yara? I've just been busy lately. When I'm not so busy, I'll definitely come see you."

After comforting Yara, Ambrose sat down across from Paxton.

"Dr. Watson, what's wrong with Hayden?"

Paxton looked at Ambrose but didn't answer. Instead, he said, "Let's wait for Ms. Mellon to come out."

Scarlett had Yara stay in the room with Hayden, then came to the living room. Seeing Ambrose sitting on the sofa - they hadn't seen each other in two weeks - she didn't deliberately ignore him, just glanced at him briefly before looking back at Paxton.

"Ms. Mellon, please sit. Let me tell you about Hayden."

Scarlett cared most about Hayden, so she naturally sat down. After they were both seated, Paxton spoke.

"Actually, Hayden isn't sick."

Scarlett was stunned, not understanding why he would say he felt bad if he wasn't sick.

"What do you mean?" Ambrose asked.

"He just hasn't seen you in so long that he came up with this plan to get you to come see him." Paxton laughed at this point.

"This kid is pretty smart. Don't blame him. He just wants both of you by his side."

Paxton didn't directly point out their quarrel, instead putting everything on Ambrose. This was to save face for both of them.

"Ambrose, no matter how busy you are, you need to make time for your child and family."

After Paxton left, the two were alone in the living room. Scarlett felt guilty about neglecting Hayden's emotional needs and realized she couldn't give him a complete family.

She suddenly thought that maybe she had disrupted Hayden's routine. If she let him go back to Silver Oak Heights, maybe this wouldn't have happened.

"How about this—let Hayden go back to Silver Oak Heights with you. After all, he grew up with you. Suddenly not seeing you would make him anxious."

Ambrose's hands on his knees tightened. If Hayden went back to Silver Oak Heights, then he and she would be completely separated.

"We should ask him. If he's willing, I'm fine with it."

He didn't dare refuse outright, so he could only push the decision onto Hayden.

Based on his understanding of Hayden, the idea that he missed him was impossible. Hayden probably saw the problems between him and her, which is why he came up with this plan.

But this was good too, at least it made her face the issue.

"Then when you go in to see him, ask him!" Scarlett said.

Ambrose didn't dare disagree with her now.

He nodded. "I'll ask him in a bit."

Seeing he had no objection, Scarlett said, "Go see him then! But don't scold him. Just tell him it's not serious, and he should eat lighter foods."

Scarlett thought that Hayden had been eating heavy foods lately and had even gained some weight. He needed to eat lighter.

Ambrose just made a sound of agreement, his face expressionless, and got up to see Hayden.

When Ambrose pushed open the door, he saw Yara and Hayden sitting on the bed whispering. Hearing him open the door, they immediately went quiet.

Seeing who it was, Hayden immediately called out, "Dad."

Ambrose walked over and sat on the edge of his bed. "How are you feeling?"

Hayden suddenly lay down on the bed. "Still not feeling well."

Ambrose didn't call him out, just said, "If you're not feeling well, rest more."

"Dad, can you come back tonight and sleep with me? Like last time when I was sick, and we slept together, you can take care of me."

Though Hayden had his little scheme, it suited Ambrose's wishes perfectly, so he said.

"If you want me to take care of you, we'll go back to Silver Oak Heights together."

Hearing this, Hayden immediately sat up. "I want to stay at Lakeside Garden. If I go back to Silver Oak Heights, I won't see Scarlett anymore. You used to live at Lakeside Garden too. Why can't you now?"

These words reached Scarlett's ears as she arrived at the door.
