Chapter 274 Playful Bickering
Gage hurried forward with the soup, "Dad, have some soup, it'll help you feel better."
After coughing a few times, Cody caught his breath and grabbed his knife and fork, he threw them at Bodhi.
"You bastard, your head is full of dirty thoughts all day long."
Bodhi caught them with both hands, looking wronged.
"Grandpa even took that little girl to the collection room. Isn't that clearly treating her as family?"
That made sense, but Cody couldn't explain the real situation. Now wasn't the right time to announce Yara's identity publicly.
He could only scold, "You're a grown man, and you're still competing with a kid over this?"
"I can let other things go, but that's the collection room. How about you let me go play there for a bit?" Bodhi stretched his neck hopefully.
"Don't I know you? You'd definitely steal stuff if you went in."
Bodhi fell silent.
"Dad, Bodhi wouldn't do something like that, would he?" Gage, standing nearby, couldn't stand hearing Bodhi being put down like this.
Cody snorted coldly, "How many times has he stolen my stuff?"
After that, no one dared to speak.
The atmosphere instantly became tense. Ambrose, sitting nearby, spoke up to ease the tension.
"Yara will be part of our family in the future. We don't have any girls in the family, so it's normal for Grandpa to favor her a bit more."
This statement made it clear that Ambrose would marry Scarlett, and naturally, Yara would be family too.
Bodhi looked sideways and asked gossipily, "Did Grandpa agree to let you two get married?"
"Shut up and eat your food. If you don't want to eat, then get out." Gage reached over and smacked his head again, cutting off the conversation.
After getting hit, Bodhi was angry but he didn't dare say anything. He unhappily picked up his knife and fork and continued eating.
"Grandpa, I'm planning to have Bodhi work at the company, in the business department. What do you think?" Ambrose added.
Cody, who had picked up his knife and fork again, was silent for two seconds before saying, "You arrange it."
Bodhi's eyes widened. Angry but not daring to speak, he gave Ambrose a thumbs up, "Ambrose, you're something else."
With Bodhi's careless attitude, making him do business work was even worse than not letting him race cars.
This time, Gage had no objections. His eyes casually swept toward Yara.
Yara was very sensitive. Feeling his gaze, she looked up and met Gage's eyes and stared back without fear.
Gage was amused by her reaction and smiled, "Yara, what do you want to eat?"
"Are you looking at me because you think I'm cute?" She asked in a sweet childlike voice, seeing right through him.
Gage paused, then laughed, "Yes, Yara is cute. I once had a little sister who looked a lot like you. Looking at you is like seeing my sister."
As soon as he said this, everyone looked at him.
"Gage, just eat. Why bring this up?" Cody scolded, but there wasn't much real blame in his words.
The person Gage cared about most was his deceased sister. Cody had always known this, so over the years, no matter how many mistakes Gage made, he never punished him too harshly.
Ambrose looked up at Gage. Seeing that Gage's eyes showed affection but also something else, he narrowed his eyes.
"So, Yara looks like my aunt. No wonder Grandpa likes her so much." Bodhi suddenly understood.
So Yara looked like his late aunt Dahlia Boleyn. No wonder Cody was so fond of her.
Bodhi also knew that the deceased Dahlia was Gage's painful memory.
Suddenly, Bodhi seemed to think of something and turned to look at Ambrose.
"Ambrose, last night when you met that woman who looked like Ms. Mellon, did you mistake her for Ms. Mellon too?"
Ambrose immediately shot him a warning look, "Bodhi, if you don't speak, no one will think you're mute."
At Ambrose's sharp rebuke, Bodhi realized he was angry and quickly raised both hands in surrender.
"Okay, I won't say anything. Let's eat."
With that, he lowered his head and ate as if he hadn't eaten in a year.
Cody looked at Ambrose with a deep expression, but it was just a glance before he returned to normal and called out.
"Hayden and Yara, hurry up and eat. Don't listen to their nonsense."
Yara nodded and lowered her head to eat the delicious food in her bowl.
As for Hayden, after hearing Bodhi's words, he looked thoughtful.
After that, the table was peaceful, with only occasional sounds of Yara asking Ambrose to add food. The lunch ended calmly.
After lunch, Hayden ran alone to Bodhi's room.
"What are you doing here? Don't you need to keep your little girlfriend company?" Bodhi lay sideways on the bed, looking at him.
Hayden rolled his eyes. "Uncle Bodhi, Yara is my sister."
Bodhi smiled, "Okay, she's your sister. So what do you want from me?"
Hayden ran up to him and climbed onto the bed, asking curiously, "Is there really someone who looks like Scarlett?"
Bodhi laughed, "Hayden, why do you care about this?"
"I'm just curious." Hayden didn't reveal his thoughts.
Bodhi raised his eyebrows, pulled out his phone from behind him, and opened a video.
"Take a look. Does she look like her?"
Hayden leaned his little head in, staring at the screen without blinking. When he saw a face that looked a lot like Scarlett's, his little eyebrows furrowed.
Bodhi caught this reaction and asked with a smile.
"Pretty similar, right?"
Hayden watched for a while longer, then finally lifted his head with a look of disdain.
"Not similar at all. Scarlett is a hundred times prettier and a hundred times gentler."
Bodhi fell silent.
Hayden must be completely charmed by Scarlett!
She really had some skills!
Hayden glanced coldly at Bodhi, "Uncle Bodhi, there's something wrong with your eyes. Don't ever say that woman looks like Scarlett again, or I won't call you Uncle Bodhi anymore."
With that, he angrily climbed down from the bed and ran toward the door on his short legs.
Bodhi laughed in exasperation. Hayden actually dared to threaten him like this. Good for him!
In the study, Cody sat in his chair, his face serious as he questioned Ambrose.
"What happened last night? You beat up Tobias, and over a strange woman?"
Ambrose, who was pouring coffee for Cody, said calmly.
"It's not important."
"Then what exactly happened?" Cody demanded.
Ambrose finished pouring the coffee and set down the pot, "Have your coffee first."
Cody picked up a cup and slowly took a sip, then heard Ambrose say.
"Last night I ran into Tobias. Not to mention what he did to Hayden's mom last time, but tonight he was talking crazy—not only putting down the Boleyn family, but also asking me for Scarlett. I had to teach someone so clueless a lesson."
From start to finish, he didn't mention Felicity.
Cody had already received information. He looked at Ambrose skeptically, "But I heard you fought with Tobias over a woman who looks like Scarlett."
Ambrose chuckled lightly, "There was such a person, but I didn't teach Tobias a lesson because of her."
Then he added, "I'm not so foolish as to stick my neck out for someone who has nothing to do with me."
"Scarlett was also someone who had nothing to do with you at first, and you still lost your head and stuck your neck out for her," Cody shot back bluntly.
