Chapter 250 Why Did He Hide It From Her

Chapter 250 Why Did He Hide It From Her

Scarlett stared at the message, her mind racing the entire time.

The faces of Yara and Hayden, along with what Finnian and Bodhi had said, flashed through her mind like scenes from a movie.

So Hayden was her son. He and Yara were twins, no wonder they looked so alike.

The child she'd been searching for all this time had been right under her nose.

No wonder Hayden was so attached to her, liked her so much—it was the pull of blood.

A mix of shock and joy spread through her. Scarlett felt so excited that she wanted to rush to Silver Oak Heights right away to see Hayden.

Briar noticed Scarlett staring motionless at her phone and leaned over. "Got a hot guy on your phone?"

Scarlett snapped back to reality and quickly turned off her screen. Briar didn't see anything, but seeing how fast she moved, assumed it was something private. With so many people around, she didn't press further.

"Come on, let's drink." Scarlett suddenly became very excited, raising her glass and enthusiastically clinking it with Briar and Cleo.

She downed the drink in one gulp.

She'd found her children, and they hadn't been abused or hurt. She was so happy she couldn't put it into words—she could only use alcohol to calm herself down.

No one else noticed anything unusual, just thinking she was happy. Ambrose leaned in close and reminded her, "Even if you're happy, take it easy. Don't drink too fast."

Scarlett turned to look at him. His handsome profile still made her lose focus. Why would such a good-looking, capable man choose her—a divorced woman with a child?

Before, she'd thought he just liked her body, but now it seemed there was also the factor of her being Hayden's mother.

He knew about this, didn't he!

Seeing Scarlett staring blankly at him, Ambrose chuckled and asked, "So happy you've gone silly?"

She quickly lowered her head and quietly replied, "Very happy."

He reached out and touched her face. "Silly girl."

"Ambrose, we're still here, show some restraint!" Ruben watched their intimacy and knocked on the table in protest.

"He's this old and finally has feelings for someone. Just pretend you don't see it and congratulate him, can't you?" Felix chimed in from the side.

"Fine, for Ambrose's sake, I'll pretend I don't see it!"

Ambrose ignored their teasing, but Scarlett removed his hand and stood up, smiling at everyone.

"You all keep eating. I'm going to step out and make a call."

If Scarlett didn't leave now, she was afraid she couldn't help but ask Ambrose whether he knew about Hayden or not.

In the public restroom, she leaned on the sink, emotions churning.

What exactly happened four years ago?

Why was the man that night Ambrose?

If Octavia wanted to scheme against Ambrose, why would she let herself get involved with Ambrose?

But even if it was Octavia's scheme, how did she know the child she gave birth to was Ambrose's? How did she take the baby away the moment it was born and then use the child to find Ambrose?

Scarlett's mind was in chaos. She couldn't figure out the reason, so she stopped trying.

But she knew one thing: Indigo had harmed her father, and Octavia had taken her children.

This was an unforgivable grudge.

She would make sure the Mitchell family father and daughter got what they deserved.

As for Ambrose, he'd said he was also schemed against, which meant he didn't know either. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been deceived by Octavia.

But if he knew Octavia was an imposter, did he know she was Hayden's mom?

He kept saying he was still looking for the child's whereabouts, but there were never any results. Was he deliberately not telling her, or did he really not know?

He'd stopped her from agreeing to Phaedra's deal—he knew about this, didn't he?

If he knew, why didn't he tell her?

The more she thought about it, the more confused she became. She turned on the faucet and washed her face.

"Scarlett, something on your mind?" Briar walked in and asked, seeing her wiping water off her face.

Best friends really were best friends—they could detect even the smallest changes.

After wiping the water droplets from her face, she nodded and smiled happily. "I just found out I've found my son."

Briar froze for two seconds, then squealed and jumped up, gripping her shoulders and excitedly confirming, "You found him?"

Happiness was contagious.

Scarlett said with a smile, "Hayden is my son."

Briar suddenly froze as if someone had hit her off switch, standing there with her eyes wide as saucers, her expression as if she'd just heard Scarlett could go on a space trip—completely shocked.

Scarlett had expected this reaction. She'd probably been even more shocked herself earlier.

She reached out and gently hugged Briar. Only at this moment did her emotions slowly calm down, and she said in a low, gentle voice.

"Back then, I thought that child really was dead. I felt guilty for four years. Later, when I found out he was alive, just sold by Wesley, I was both heartbroken and overjoyed. I just wanted to find him. Now I've finally found him—he's been right beside me. I can see him every day now, and he's grown up well, getting a good education. He's smart too. Right now, I just think God has been good to me after all."

After this explanation, Briar finally came to her senses. She pulled Scarlett out of the embrace, stared at her with wide eyes, and asked.

"Ambrose's son is your lost child? So the child isn't his?"

She nodded. "The child is his."

After another few seconds of silence, Briar questioned, "So the man that night was him?"

Scarlett nodded. "Pretty unexpected and shocking, right? I don't know exactly what happened back then, and Ambrose doesn't know either. It's possible we were both set up, but I'll find out exactly how we were set up."

"Does Ambrose know that Hayden is your child?"

Scarlett wasn't sure about this question, but she suspected he knew. She'd need to confirm it, though.

Seeing her hesitation, Briar said, "If he knows you gave birth to two children for him, then tonight's celebration means he feels about you..."

She couldn't finish the sentence.

Scarlett naturally understood what Briar meant. She smiled and said.

"Whether he really likes me or because I'm the children's mother doesn't matter. What matters is getting through tonight's dinner first."

The two composed themselves and returned to the private room. Although Scarlett was smiling, her face clearly showed she wasn't fully present.

Ambrose noticed, so after dinner, when Ruben suggested going to a club to continue the fun, Ambrose declined.

After the two got in the car, it headed toward Lakeside Garden, but Scarlett suggested going to Silver Oak Heights instead.

Because Hayden was at Silver Oak Heights, she wanted to see him. Although she'd seen him today, at this moment, she particularly wanted to see him.

Ambrose was stunned for a moment. She'd never actively wanted to go to Silver Oak Heights before. Something was off tonight, but he still smiled and replied, "How about you and Yara move to Silver Oak Heights?"

Scarlett turned to look at him without speaking. Her expression wasn't very clear in the darkness, but Ambrose could sense that something was wrong with her emotions.

"What's wrong?"

"Ambrose, you said that after Octavia's matter was settled, you'd tell me about my son's whereabouts. When are you planning to tell me?"
