Chapter 245 Her Son is Her Weakness
Shock instantly appeared on Scarlett's usually calm and composed face.
How did the Mitchell family know she had a son?
They even knew her son's whereabouts?
Seeing Scarlett's reaction, Phaedra's face immediately showed satisfaction. She had found Scarlett's weak spot, and she sat down unhurriedly.
"Ms. Mellon, I know you gave birth to twins, and one of your sons is missing. I can help you find him."
After hearing this, Scarlett's thoughts gradually settled down. She looked at Phaedra with a serious expression, "How did Mrs. Mitchell know that one of my children is missing?"
"Ms. Mellon, that's not a very smart question. As they say, know yourself and know your enemy, and you'll win every battle."
Phaedra had regained control of the situation and recovered her sense of superiority.
Scarlett took in Phaedra's reaction. She had to admit that the Mitchell family had really done their homework on her—they even knew about her child.
But did Phaedra really know where her child was?
"I'll handle finding my child myself. Mrs. Mitchell doesn't need to worry about it." She couldn't show urgency—that would give the other side the upper hand.
Ambrose was already in the final stages of finding the child. Even if Ambrose couldn't find him, Scarlett would figure something out. The Mitchell family couldn't be trusted.
"What if I told you I've already found that child?" Phaedra added.
Scarlett frowned immediately. Ambrose had been searching for so long without success, and now Phaedra suddenly claimed to have found him. This was too suspicious.
"Mrs. Mitchell sure talks big."
"Ms. Mellon, I really do know that child's whereabouts. If you're willing to let Octavia off the hook, I'll definitely help you with these three things. Think it over carefully."
The three things referred to her and Orion being safe and sound, plus finding her child's whereabouts.
These terms were quite tempting indeed.
"I've been searching for that child for so long, and Mrs. Mitchell just mentions it and claims to know his whereabouts. How can I believe whether what you're saying is true or false?"
Phaedra looked at Scarlett with a smile, "You can verify it!"
"So you're saying you'll let me know whether the news about the child is true or false first, and then I agree to drop the case?"
"No, we exchange at the same time."
Scarlett smiled, "I think you're dreaming. What if I drop the charges, and then the news about the child isn't real? Wouldn't I be fooled?"
Phaedra spoke with certainty.
"That definitely won't happen."
After saying this, Phaedra raised her hand to check her watch, then said.
"I won't be having lunch with you. I'm sure you wouldn't have an appetite seeing me anyway."
She pushed back her chair, "Think it over carefully. Give me an answer within two days."
Phaedra left, but Scarlett sat there in a daze, her heart conflicted. She wanted to know her child's whereabouts immediately, but she also didn't want to let Octavia off this time.
After Phaedra left, Scarlett didn't leave either. Instead, she asked the waiter to bring food. She ate alone, thinking things over while eating.
When Ambrose pushed open the door to the private room, he saw Scarlett sitting alone at the table, eating absent-mindedly.
After he walked over, Scarlett looked up. Seeing the worried expression on his face, she murmured.
"Why did you come?"
"The bodyguard said you met with Phaedra. After she left, you stayed alone in the private room without coming out. I happened to be nearby, so I rushed over."
Ambrose sat down beside her, "What did Phaedra say to you?"
Scarlett didn't answer, but said instead, "Let's talk while eating."
Ambrose hadn't eaten either. He asked the waiter for another set of utensils, and the two ate lunch quietly.
The room was very quiet. Except for the sound of silverware touching plates, both were silent. Ambrose didn't speak because he was waiting for Scarlett to start.
Scarlett was silent because she didn't quite know how to bring it up—should she say she was going to give up this opportunity?
After eating a piece of steak, she finally spoke.
"Phaedra came to make a deal with me. She said as long as I'm willing to let Octavia go, both Mr. Philip and I will be fine, and I can also find out my son's whereabouts."
When Ambrose heard the last sentence, his hand paused mid-air as he was about to serve himself more food. Two seconds later, he looked at her.
Scarlett met his gaze, "The Mitchell family can pinpoint my weakness so precisely. Do you think they've been planning this all along?"
"Even you can't find out where that child is, yet they know. Maybe they knew where the child was from the very beginning." As she said this, her eyes suddenly widened.
"They wouldn't mistreat my child, would they?" Scarlett put down her knife and fork, no longer calm.
Ambrose quickly reassured her, "Why do you always think the worst? The child will be fine."
Hearing his certain tone, Scarlett questioned, "But haven't you not seen the child yet?"
Ambrose served her some soup from the table and urged her to drink it before asking back, "Do you trust me, or do you trust the Mitchell family?"
How could Scarlett not trust him?
She gave him a look and said nothing, lowering her head to drink the soup.
Seeing her calm down, Ambrose tried to reassure her further.
"Right now, the Mitchell family is using this to pressure you. If you fall for it, you'll be playing right into their hands."
Scarlett understood the Mitchell family's purpose, but the child was her weak spot. She desperately wanted to know where he was.
She put down her soup bowl and sighed, "You're not me, so you don't know that anxious feeling a mother has wanting to see her child."
Ambrose suddenly felt that keeping things from her might not be right. What would happen when she found out later? He didn't dare think about it.
But he had already kept it from her, so now he could only try to make up for it.
"I know, I know it all. But right now, you need to stay calm. About the child, after this matter is resolved, I'll definitely give you an answer and let you see the child."
These words made Scarlett look up at him with surprise and joy, "You have results?"
He nodded.
Scarlett stopped drinking her soup, staring at him expectantly, "Can't you tell me now?"
"We're still making contact. Don't worry. We must resolve this matter first. Don't let the Mitchell family mess with your head. This is the best opportunity to deal a heavy blow to the Mitchell family."
It really was the best opportunity.
So she would be patient a little longer!
The conflict in Scarlett's heart immediately dissipated. After finishing her soup, she put down the bowl and took out a voice recorder from her bag, placing it in front of him.
"This is the recording of my conversation with Phaedra. We can use this against the Mitchell family later."
Actually, Scarlett had turned on the recorder before entering the private room.
Although Phaedra was very careful with her words and avoided mentioning Indigo, any sentence from it could be used to fabricate something.
Scarlett then began to describe bit by bit the video she saw of Ulysses's split personality.
Thinking back on it now, it was still quite shocking.
"For something like this to happen in the Mitchell family, it seems their luck is starting to turn." Scarlett murmured to herself.
As she finished speaking, her phone on the table rang. It was Finnian calling.
"Finnian." After Scarlett answered, Ambrose looked up.
