Chapter 213 Instead, He Harmed Himself

Chapter 213 Instead, He Harmed Himself

Before Ambrose could even start telling the story, Scarlett's gaze had already stirred him up, leaving him stiff and unable to move as he pressed against her.

"Why don't you go take care of yourself first, then come back to tell the story?" Scarlett said, noticing Ambrose's erection becoming increasingly uncomfortable against her.

Ambrose looked at her and reached for her hand, asking tentatively, "With your hand?"

Scarlett pulled her hand back. "During the dating period, we need to keep things innocent. At most, we can hug and kiss on the cheek. Nothing else."

Ambrose had no choice but to endure it and continue with the story.

But before he could start, his phone rang. He didn't want to answer, but Scarlett urged him to, so he picked it up. Seeing the number, he frowned.

"It's Octavia."

Scarlett looked up as Ambrose answered expressionlessly.

"What is it?"

"Tomorrow evening, I'd like to have Hayden over for dinner."

"You'll have to ask if he's willing. If he wants to go, he can." Ambrose's voice was flat.

"I'll ask him tomorrow."

Scarlett overheard their conversation. Honestly, she really didn't want Hayden to have any more contact with Octavia.

After Ambrose hung up, she said, "Since Octavia is an imposter, aren't you worried she might harm the child if you let her keep seeing Hayden?"

Ambrose looked down at her with a deep gaze. "As long as we pretend not to know the truth, she won't make a move on the child."

Scarlett thought it was too risky, so she told him about Octavia bullying her classmates.

After finishing, she added, "There's nothing Octavia wouldn't dare to do. Hayden is so young—I really don't want him to get hurt even a little bit."

Ambrose was silent for a moment, then deliberately tested her. "Once you become my girlfriend, you'll have the right to make decisions about the child. If you say he can't go, I won't let him go even if he wants to."

This was clearly a temptation. Scarlett wasn't falling for it. She rolled her eyes at him. "Whatever you want."

Scarlett was a bit annoyed that Ambrose was using this to pressure her, so she pushed him.

"I don't want to hear the story anymore. You should go."

Seeing she was upset, Ambrose quickly said, "Hayden doesn't want to go. No one can force him."

Even so, Scarlett was still a bit angry and told him to leave. He had to say, "I'll leave after you fall asleep."

With him there, Scarlett couldn't sleep at all. She glared at him, and he had to compromise. "Then give me a goodnight kiss."

Seeing that he was following the rules, Scarlett leaned toward his cheek and gave him a peck. But one peck wasn't nearly enough—he turned his head and kissed her on the lips.

This kiss was more urgent than the one at noon. Scarlett felt that Ambrose, at this moment, was like a hungry wolf, wanting to devour her whole.

Just as Ambrose was about to take things further, she stopped him.

"Ambrose, stop."

Forced to stop abruptly, he felt an uncomfortable ache in his lower abdomen and rushed to her bathroom.

Soon, suppressed groaning sounds came from the bathroom. Scarlett quickly pulled the thin blanket over herself. When they used to have sex, she never thought his groaning sounded scary, but hearing it now—it was truly terrifying.

Had he brought this on himself?

Twenty minutes later, Ambrose came out after relieving himself. Scarlett threw off the blanket, her big eyes staring straight at him, deliberately provoking him.

"Will you still tell bedtime stories next time?"

Seeing her smug look, Ambrose couldn't help but laugh. She really held grudges.

Looking at Scarlett's triumphant expression, Ambrose raised his eyebrows slightly, his voice low and deep. "Of course, I'll keep telling stories. I never quit halfway through."

As he spoke, he walked toward the door and casually tossed out, "Go to sleep early."

This time, he left decisively without lingering. But Scarlett, lying in bed, couldn't fall asleep. His groaning kept echoing in her ears.

Scarlett felt restless and irritated. She covered her ears, trying to drive the sound away, but the more she tried, the clearer it became. Finally, her blood began to boil, and she couldn't lie still.

Actually, it wasn't just men who craved sex after having it once—women were the same way.

Scarlett suddenly realized that while Ambrose's seduction had backfired on him, she wasn't much better off. The desire deep inside her body was faintly surging up, making her so uncomfortable that she rolled from one side of the bed to the other.

The heat in her body was rising—it was so uncomfortable!

If she had known, she wouldn't have teased him.

This reaction kept Scarlett from sleeping well all night. The next day, she had huge dark circles under her eyes.

At breakfast, Yara noticed Scarlett's condition and, thinking she'd had nightmares again, asked about it at the table.

After hearing this, Hayden also expressed concern.

Facing the two little ones' care, Scarlett felt touched, especially by Hayden. She liked him more and more. Then, thinking about Octavia wanting to see him tonight, she felt a hidden worry.

"Hayden, no matter who you go out with in the future, don't believe everything they say. If anything happens, contact your dad immediately, okay?"

Hayden found these words strange, but sensing her care, he felt happy and nodded repeatedly.

"I will."
