Chapter 177 Dark Humor
Scarlett's shout instantly silenced the car.
Ambrose frowned, but the car still gradually slowed down. Seeing the car was about to stop, Scarlett finally reined in her anger.
Hayden was shocked, his big eyes staring at her the whole time. Sensing his gaze, Scarlett turned to look at him.
In the darkness, Hayden's big eyes were particularly bright, like two gems, sparkling.
Looking at Hayden, she could always see Yara's shadow. Scarlett wanted to be heartless but really couldn't bring herself to be, so she had to turn her head away.
At this moment, the car pulled over. As soon as it stopped, Ambrose's voice rang out.
"Ms. Mitchell, I'll have someone take you back."
Octavia wasn't surprised, but she had achieved her goal. Once again displaying her understanding and big-picture mindset, she said with a smile.
"Thank you for the trouble."
Scarlett ignored them both, opened the car door, and got out first. Before getting out, she tossed out a line, "I have something to do, I'll get off here."
With that, she pushed the door open and got out.
Octavia looked at Scarlett, a faint smile on her lips, and followed her out. After getting out, she walked around the back of the car, went up to the curb, and deliberately glanced at Scarlett.
After Scarlett got out, Ambrose followed. Taking a few long strides, he walked up to Scarlett and reached out to grab her arm. "Your hand is injured so badly. What else do you have to do this late at night?"
Scarlett turned to look at him coldly. "I'm not playing this kind of game with you."
Ambrose ran his tongue over his teeth. "What game?"
Scarlett's lips curved slightly, and she turned to glance at Octavia, a few steps away. "Ms. Mitchell and I are enemies. To get two enemies to sit in the same car, that's all thanks to Mr. Boleyn's charm."
After a two-second pause, she added, "Mr. Boleyn really enjoys this feeling, doesn't he?"
With that, she raised her arm, trying to break free from his grip, but Ambrose held on tight, making her shout again in anger.
"Let go, I'm not playing along with you two."
"Ms. Mellon, I'm Hayden's mother, so of course I'll be in contact with Ambrose. Please understand, you can't get angry every time we meet because of the child. Some things can't be avoided." Octavia walked over, taking her understanding attitude to the extreme.
Scarlett was in a bad mood tonight. She'd been injured for no reason, had to endure Octavia's provocations, and Ambrose in front of her wasn't saying a word.
All of this made her very uncomfortable. She was extremely irritated and didn't want to control her emotions anymore, so she just started cursing.
"What's your relationship got to do with me, and what's my anger got to do with you? Is it because I didn't settle the score with you for the stuff you pulled behind my back before, so you think I'm a pushover?"
After saying that, she spat at Ambrose, "Ambrose, you're really unlucky. Of all nights, you just happened to run into such a two-faced person that night."
That night, in Scarlett's words, referred to that night four years ago. The smile on Octavia's face grew more triumphant. "Scarlett, for Ambrose's sake, I won't stoop to your level."
Scarlett couldn't stand Octavia's pretentious act. She scoffed, then deliberately provoked Octavia. "Your stooping to my level is malicious slander behind my back, so what would it look like if you showed you minded? Secretly sending people after me?"
Scarlett drew out her tone, looked down with a smile, then raised her hand, deliberately saying.
"Could it be that this injury on my hand was also your doing?"
Octavia's smiling face froze, then turned to anger the next second. "Scarlett, I can tolerate you, but I won't let you slander me."
Scarlett had just been talking nonsense, but seeing Octavia react so strongly, she walked up to Octavia and leaned in to examine her.
"Your reaction looks like a guilty conscience."
Octavia immediately adjusted her expression, putting on a stern face. "Why would I feel guilty about something I didn't do? I can't be bothered to talk to someone like you."
Scarlett glanced at her. "You were just trying to talk to me, and now you can't be bothered? That shows you're guilty."
Octavia frowned. "Show me proof before you talk, otherwise I can sue you for defamation."
"Cut that crap. This injury better have nothing to do with you, or your dad's position won't be too stable."
Scarlett couldn't quite tell if Octavia's reaction meant she was involved or if she herself was being too sensitive, but saying it would at least keep Octavia from bothering her.
"I think you're just looking for trouble." Octavia snorted coldly.
Seeing the two were about to argue again, Ambrose quickly called out behind him, "Take Ms. Mitchell back."
With that, two people got out of the car that stopped behind Ambrose and came up to Octavia. "Ms. Mitchell, please!"
Octavia tossed her hair and said pleasantly, "Then I'll head back first. Ms. Mellon, don't be so unreasonable and fight with Ambrose. We don't have any relationship."
With that, she turned and left.
Scarlett ignored Octavia's self-satisfied performance and just looked coldly at Ambrose.
"If you don't want things to get so awkward, I suggest you let me go."
Ambrose saw the faint anger on her beautiful face. Scarlett's bloodless face looked even paler, and considering her injured hand, he reluctantly let go.
"Stop making a scene." Ambrose coaxed in a low voice.
Scarlett laughed coldly. He was really something.
Where was she making a scene?
She just didn't want to play this kind of game with him.
Better to make it clear, to avoid this kind of drama in the future. With her uninjured hand, she brushed her hair. As the wind lifted her hair, it also lifted her voice.
"You forgot about our relationship, so let me remind you. We don't interfere with each other. Whatever relationship you have with Octavia, I won't comment, but don't treat me like a fool. I won't participate in this sick hobby of yours."
She must have had water in her brain earlier, getting in Ambrose's car, knowing Octavia was there. Watching her and Octavia clash must have made him so pleased, right?
"Sick hobby? What sick hobby?" Ambrose asked, his face growing colder.
Just then, a car stopped behind Ambrose's car. The next second, the window rolled down, revealing a handsome, bold face.
"Scarlett."
It was Finnian. Seeing Finnian, Scarlett genuinely felt his timing was perfect. She could take his car and leave, saving herself from looking at the eyesore that was Ambrose.
Scarlett stepped toward the car. Just as she took one step, her hand was grabbed.
"You haven't answered me yet." Ambrose asked.
Scarlett laughed coldly, "The sick hobby of enjoying two women fighting over you."
With that, she shook her hand, broke free, and strode toward Finnian's car.
Without a word, she pulled open the door and got in. After fastening her seatbelt, the car started and drove away.
Standing by the roadside, Ambrose didn't chase after her, just watched the departing car with a slightly dark expression, his face very unpleasant.
Octavia, who had gotten into the bodyguard's car, saw all of this. A triumphant smile appeared on her lips. See, she just showed her face, and the two of them got into a fight. Scarlett got into another man's car. Ambrose must be very angry!
Ambrose would definitely turn around and take her home.
