Chapter 134 He Likes Her, Right!

Chapter 134 He Likes Her, Right!

After getting in the car, Ambrose told Chase to drive Scarlett's car back. Chase got out, and before he left, Scarlett gave him the car keys.

There were only two people in the car. After sitting for a while and calming down, Scarlett said to Ambrose, "Let's go back!"

Ambrose drove while Scarlett sat in the passenger seat. The car was quiet - Scarlett didn't speak, and Ambrose didn't push her to talk.

He knew that last time when she came to see Owen, she was also upset.

"Ambrose, my dad said you don't need to worry about the Serene Bay Peninsula situation. The Mitchell family won't dare to do anything openly." After a long silence, Scarlett finally spoke.

Ambrose raised his eyebrows. "Your dad is starting to pay attention to me?"

"Tatum went to him and told him everything, which made him really sad." At this point, Scarlett's tone suddenly became harsh.

"Tatum doesn't want me and my dad to have peace, so she can't blame me for not being nice about it."

Ambrose had never seen Scarlett like this before. It seemed that when someone hurt the people she cared about, she was willing to go all out and fight back.

"Scarlett, you looked really scary just now, but I like it." Ambrose's tone was casual, yet it revealed a hint of envy.

"If someone hurt me one day, would you be like that too?"

Scarlett turned her head and looked at his profile. In the dim light and shadows, she couldn't see his expression clearly, but she could hear the expectation in his voice.

He said he was just passing by to pick her up - that was an excuse, wasn't it? He didn't want her to overthink things.

Ever since she said those words about cutting ties, he had changed a lot. He became careful with his words, didn't dare to push her, and even seemed to be trying to please her.

He must like her, right?

Ambrose, who was driving, turned his head. In the darkness, seeing her staring at him without speaking, he teased her.

"Forget everything else - with my looks, if someone bullied me, you'd at least feel bad for me, right?"

Although Scarlett was puzzled, she didn't ask. What would be the point of asking anyway?

Just keep things as they are - everyone stays comfortable.

"Who would dare bully you? It's good enough that you don't bully others." Scarlett's tone was very light. Perhaps because of her low mood tonight, she didn't have her usual sharp edge when bantering with him. Instead, she sounded somewhat playful.

Ambrose, driving the car, felt his heart tickle. Knowing she was in a bad mood, his tone was deliberately trying to lift her spirits.

"You're the one who dares to bully me."

Scarlett turned her head. "When have I ever bullied you?"

"I'm your lover now. When you're in a bad mood, you don't want to deal with me. When you're in a good mood, you give me some attention. Isn't that bullying?"

Hearing the word "lover," Scarlett felt helpless again. Her tone rose: "What are you talking about? We have an equal relationship."

Perhaps seeing that Scarlett was getting worked up, Ambrose quickly dropped the teasing and said with a smile.

"Feeling a bit better?"

So he said all that to make her feel better.

Suddenly, she fell silent. Seeing her quiet, Ambrose brought the topic back to earlier. "What do you want to do about Tatum?"

She turned her head, her tone cold. "You don't need to do anything. I'll handle it myself."

This was the first time Ambrose had seen her like this, so he didn't interfere. "Okay, if you need any help, just say the word."

Half an hour later, the Bentley returned to the city. Ambrose took her straight to a restaurant. The location was very out of the way - along the busy commercial street and then winding through several turns. Ambrose pointed to a restaurant without a sign.

"We're here."

He pushed the door open. Once inside, it was a whole different world. The dim lighting created a home-like atmosphere, but it was full of people - not noisy, very quiet.

Ambrose kept walking inside until he reached a private room. He pushed open the door. There were several people sitting inside. Scarlett paused - she hadn't expected there would be others. She thought he hadn't eaten dinner yet and was just coming to have dinner with him, especially since he had made a special trip to pick her up.

Ambrose noticed her hesitation and turned around. "These are all my childhood friends. Do me a favor - the meal isn't important, just sit for a bit."

Scarlett glanced at him. Since he put it that way, could she refuse? She steeled herself and followed behind him.

"Ambrose!" Ruben called out, but his eyes looked behind Ambrose. "Ms. Mellon, sit here."

Scarlett nodded graciously at Ruben. "Mr. Lawson." Out of the corner of her eye, she also spotted Felix and greeted him: "Mr. Evans."

Felix nodded with a slight smile. "Ms. Mellon, what a rare guest."

There was another man Scarlett didn't recognize - distinguished and composed, staring at Scarlett but speaking to Ambrose.

"Ambrose, aren't you going to introduce us?"

Ambrose smiled lightly. "Scarlett Mellon." Then he turned to look at Scarlett and introduced the man: "Griffin Chambers."

Scarlett's heart skipped a beat. This was Griffin, the internet mogul. She had heard of him but had never actually met him in person. So this is what he looked like.

Though secretly surprised, she still nodded at him. "Hello."

Griffin's lips curved in a smile, with deeper meaning: "Hello, Ms. Mellon. Seeing you in person is better than just hearing about you."

Scarlett didn't try to read too much into his words, thinking that Griffin must have heard about Owen's situation.

After the two sat down, Ambrose ordered a bowl of soup for her. The soup tasted very good, so she quietly lowered her head to drink it, listening to them talk.

"Ms. Mellon, don't be shy. We're friends with Ambrose - be casual." Griffin said.

Scarlett smiled and nodded. "I won't. The soup is very good."

Ambrose put a piece of fish in her bowl with his fork. "This one's good, try it."

Scarlett had to say, "Thank you!"

After that, Ambrose, Griffin, and Felix chatted about other things, while Ruben talked to Scarlett.

"Ms. Mellon, for what Wesley did this time, he'll get at least this many years." Ruben held up some fingers.

Ten years. Scarlett's heart jolted. It seemed Wesley really had no chance of making a comeback. He brought it on himself - he couldn't blame anyone else.

"Ambrose, are you planning to acquire the Ross Group?" Griffin's voice.

Scarlett looked at Ambrose. He hadn't mentioned this to her. Now that Wesley's crimes were confirmed, the Ross Group would soon go under too.

Ambrose: "I'm thinking about it." Then he turned to look at Scarlett beside him. "You built up the Ross Group single-handedly. If I acquire it, what do you think?"

Scarlett was stunned for a moment, not expecting Ambrose to suddenly ask her. She was silent for two seconds, then said calmly.

"Although I built up the Ross Group, if it's in the hands of someone who can't manage it well, I'd rather see someone capable take it over."

Ambrose smiled. "Don't you have forty percent of the shares? If I acquire it, would you manage it?"

Scarlett smiled. "Don't joke around."

Seeing her resistance, Ambrose didn't say more and continued talking with Griffin.

Scarlett's mind wandered a bit after that. Ambrose wanted to acquire the Ross Group?

Ruben suddenly leaned over and said in a low voice: "Ambrose actually just wants to give you the Ross Group, but he's too embarrassed to say it. Just accept it!"

Scarlett turned to look at him. "Mr. Lawson, have you heard the saying 'don't accept rewards without merit'?"

Seeing her firm stance, Ruben said directly: "Getting him the art museum project is merit! Besides, between you and Ambrose, you don't need to talk about these things! When you two get together in the future, these will all be shared assets anyway."

Scarlett frowned. "Mr. Lawson, you can't just say things like that."

Ruben: "Let me put it this way - Ambrose has never brought a woman to eat with us. You're the first. What does that mean? I don't need to spell it out, do I?"
